Diner Reviews
  • "We live in the neighborhood and enjoy eating regularly at D4. They have a nice outdoor space as well as a large, comfortable indoor space. Wide selection of alchol and the chef updates the menu throughout the year. Employees are courteous and attentive, in particular, the manager George and one of the servers, Q."

  • "I had friends visiting from Montreal and we had dinner at the D4 Irish Pub. The place looks great. Our waitress was adorable, she recommended we try the fish tacos and they were delightful. The portion size are really big so you need a good appetite. Nice selection of beers. We had a great evening and the staff was very patient we my friends from out of town that speak little English."

  • "We have never had a bad meal at D4. The food is wonderful, the service is terrific, and the owner, Mr. O'Neal takes great pride in the ambiance of the venue. It's decor is beautiful - can be loud at times - but, the feel and comfort of the restaurant far exceeds the noise level. The new menu offers something for everyone...my husband loves the burgers - for me, the bourban salmon is my favorite. And for Irish, the Guiness pour is top notch!"

  • "I made Reservations 4 days before. When arriving the host informed me that there was only one area that i can sit in , because thay had 2 big parties booked. and they were pretty full. I did not like being told this since i made reservations before hand and i should of been made aware at that time at that time so i could of decided if i wanted to keep my reservations. or go else where. The waiter i had sucked !!!! he never smiled brought a glass of water with no ice. just sat it on the table without making my party aware!!! . food 5 stars, atmosphere 5 stars , employees 1 star. for the few that did not wait on my table and actually was nice."

  • "We discovered D4 a few weeks back as a great place to go before heading next door to AMC. The food is AMAZING, the drinks are great, they have a great beer selection, and the service is attentive. We have been back at least 4 times in less than a month. They have a patio - which I'm sure we will be on all summer. The home made chips are a MUST as are the chicken tenders!"

  • "Have dined here several times, within walking distance from the apartment. Great spot to stop for drinks, lunch, or dinner. Excellent food- have had salmon, chicken sandwich, french onion soup, broccoli soup with crushed almonds. The lobster roll is so good I order it the majority of the time. Recommend making reservations if dining, the dining room is small & busy. Great staff, classy decor. One of my favorite go-to joints."

  • "Met my sister-in-law and her hubby for Chicago weekend. Picked this off Open Table recommendations. The food was really different and good. We started with the short rib nachos. I would go back just for that. I had the grapefruit salad....excellent. The had Smithwicks on tap....great with the nachos. This was fun and good."

  • "Great place for late night. My boyfriend and I came here on our trip to Chicago after a local recommended it to us. We had the 3 sliders which were bbq pulled pork (our fav), crabcake and beef with blue cheese. All were pretty good, but the highlight was the "curry chips" (fries). I wasn't too sure about ordering them but figured they sounded interesting so give it a try...they were AMAZING! We talked about them for days after...very addicting if we lived in Chicago!"

  • "D4 is great. The food is excellent - try the lobster mac and cheese or the Harp chicken fingers. The atmosphere is bar-like, but you can hear people talk. Their staff us awesome. We have never had anything but a fabulous time here."

  • "Food was nothing special at all...Waiter was a nice person but a terrible waiter. Had to ask for everything. You should not have to ask for spoons, a napkin, cream and sugar when you order coffee… They should know that. And the prior guests empty creamers and used sugar packets were left on the table. Had to ask three time for water. Ugh. Not going back anytime soon. But if we do hopefully it will be better next time."

  • "Nice variety for an Irish pub - something for everyone, including vegetarians. Parking & entrance are complicated so pay attention. We looked for the columns of fire outside. Cozy and warm inside on a winter evening. Good food and excellent service."

  • "We had a group of 14 who were in town for a conference. (Our reservation was for 12, but they accommodated us without any complaints.) The location was close to our hotel, but still felt like the city. We also had some unique requirements pertaining to the checks. D4 accommodated all of our challenges effortlessly! Chris was our server and handled things beautifully. Everyone thought their food was great and the prices were really appreciated by our "not-so-Chicago" crowd. Even more impressive was the fact that they didn't use our group size to make us wait. Our food was brought out together and we were completely done with our meal in about an hour. Really awesome for our group! We will certainly be back! Couldn't have asked for more."

  • "Had a group of ten on a busy Saturday early evening. Staff was great. Decor very nice. Most in my group had outstanding meals -- french onion soup, corned beef sandwiches, burgers, etc. My son and I had the lobster macaroni, thinking it would be an unusual treat. Noodles were tough, lobster spongy, and it was served lukewarm. Disappointing. But overall, our group had a great experience. It was nice they took reservations for a larger group."

  • "Overall place was good, quiet and warm. Food was good, hanger steak was over cooked though. Took a while to get the check, wish there was some sounds on for the games."

  • "Made a reservation for after the film at AMC. That was a great idea because it was raining when we left the movie and D4 is a short walk away. Food was yummy. Sat in the bar area. Lots of activity and football on TV....but not so loud that we couldn't talk. It was a delight."

  • "We enjoyed our meal at D4. Food was very good, service was good. We don't normally like the 2-top seats along the wall lined up--one next to the other, but we were on an end and it was fine. We had drinks outside a few weeks before and that was a very nice."

  • "My husband I went here with his parents. We sat outside around 8:30pm. The lighting was a little dim outside, but the food and drinks were wonderful. We ordered the fish and chips, lobster mac and cheese, chicken pot pie, 3 sliders (one of each) with french onion soup, and had the nachos as an appetizer. Everyone was pretty happy with what they ordered. The nachos, soup, and pot pie were among the favorites. The lobster mac and cheese was the only disappointment due to the small amount of meat. For drinks, the beer list is a good one and their Pink St. Germaine was delicious. The atmosphere outside is definitely quieter and more intimate than their inside especially when the games are on."

  • "D4 Irish pub and cafe is a great neighborhood place located in Streeterville a few blocks from Michigan Avenue to the west and Navy Pier to the east. They have a nice varied menu,of good food for good value. There is a great selection of beers and a decent wine list. In the good weather they have a nice outdoor patio to add to your options. The ambiance is upscale and while the "games" are on the large screen TV's the volume is off so you can converse with your fellow diners and drinkers. A great place!"

  • "I asked our friendly server, Hannah about a gluten-free menu, she brought it over and I was surprised to have so many options! We started with nachos (hubby is NOT vegan), I ate the chips that weren't covered in cheese or sour cream. For dinner I had a veggie burger. BIG surprise it was gluten-free. Most veg burgers use wheat as a binder. I had it bun-less w/ a sweet potato fries. It was delicious! I was really hungry and craving some greasy food, which is why I went for the fries. The veggie burger had a ton of flavor, I topped it with some dijon mustard and enjoyed a nice malbec/cab. Definitely a great spot to hit for a large patio, and perfect if you're going to see a movie at the nearby AMC."
