Cyprus RestaurantDate night @ CyprusThe food was absolutely excellent, we worked our way through the various appetizers as I find that to be the easiest way to sample a variety of the menu and none of those on offer were a disappointment. The Thai Calamari was bar none the best I have ever eaten, and I have eaten Calamari at some pretty fantastic restaurants, texture was silky, buttery with a perfectly crispy crust and a delicious sweet chili sauce as an accompaniment. We are generally not huge fans of eggplant, but decided to give it a try and it would become a favourite if every chef treated the produce with such respect and finesse. I only remove one star for service because of the over-eager busboy that kept snagging our plates before we were done with them,5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was superb and theThe food was superb and the service more prompt than I've enjoyed in a couple of years. (The deserts were a bit too exotic for the tastes of most of our group, however, with the use of herbs in ice cream pushing our boundaries.) We look forward to returning soon.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSan Francisco in Western NCOne of the most unusual and interesting menus we have seen. If you like ethnic food, you can have almost anything you want at this one location. Reminded us somewhat of the Slanted Door in SF (not quite that good) with coverage of more parts of the world.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal and service wasGreat meal and service was excellent . Highly recommend if you are going to Highlands .5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for special occasionsI went to Cyprus for my one-year anniversary with my boyfriend. It was perfect in every way. The ambiance was very cool and welcoming. The wine and beer list is great, and the food was absolutely delicious. I recommend the calamari and/or bone marrow for an appetizer. Their spare rib or lamb is a must. The food was prepared in a beautiful arrangement every time. The waiters were on top of their game. Seating was comfortable, and we had good conversation with a local couple sitting across from us. Very friendly atmosphere, good music, phenomenal food--no complaints! Oh, and be sure to grab dessert as well, any of them! Meals are priced in the upper-range, but I thought it was well worth it, especially for a special occasion.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBe amazedWonderful! An absolute gem. The restaurant has a fabulous eclectic menu from around the world to suit everyone's palate. A truly amazing restaurant.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMCyprus is always good, great,Cyprus is always good, great, inventive, tasty, fresh. Servers are helpful and right on with pairings. Don't miss the weekly exotic destination menus.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!! Bravo!!This was our third visit. We are from Atlanta and are in the Highlands area once per year. Of all the great restaurants we frequent in Atlanta, we must say that Cyprus puts them all to shame! It has become our favorite! We have tried dishes there from around the world and, although we can't pronounce the names of some of the dishes, each and every one has been absolutely incredible! Owner/chef Nicholas Figel has got to be one of the finest chefs in all the world!
On our most recent visit, my wife had the Marinated Lamb Sirloin Steak. She said it was the most delicious meal she has ever had in her 47 years; and she's a chef!
The staff at Cyprus is friendly and helpful, always taking the time to explain, in detail, the menu selection.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMtrying new things..The restaurant boasts an international menu and that it is. They have a wide range of dishes. Each week they have a featured area. We got a braised duck appetizer that was a feature. The duck was cooked well, but the accompaniments were bland. I ordered a chinese dish with rice noodles and sesame and chicken. It had lettuce on top with sesame seeds, but it didn't taste like it was tossed in anything, but maybe some oil. The rice noodles were well seasoned and reminded me of a Thai dish. I would have given the food a 3, but the chocolate cake with spicy chocolate ganache. It had just enough spice to make it a perfect blend of spicy and sweet.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMChef Nick is becoming moreChef Nick is becoming more adventurous than ever, featuring special menus each week of internationsl and historical cultures. When we visited, the food of "Ancient Egypt" was the emphasis of four mains and three starters. While this may sound a little pretentious, we find it exciting to sample food that is different from the usual restautant fare. The golden beet salad with fresh pommegranet seeds and reduction over baby greens with warm goat cheese crutons was delicious. Sauteed sea scollops were melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The roast lamb entree was served in an inventive plating, stacked and layered with a crunchy pastry and roated walnuts. Servings are always generous. Incredible food from a very creative chef4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMChef FIgels weekly culinaryChef FIgels weekly culinary travel destination menus have me going back over and over. I feel like I've been around the world in my senses.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were very impressed withWe were very impressed with the food at this restaurant. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. The food was very presented in an attractive manner and the flavorinog, though different, were great. The menu descriptions did not really do justice to the great food. We will definitely return.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat serviceService was great. Food was okay. This restaurant offers international cuisine such as middle eastern food. Our dishes were interesting but way too many flavors going on. Exception was a pumpkin lamb appetizer which was a little bland. Ordered an Iranian dish that can only be described as interesting. Lots of sauce with many different flavors but none that really popped. Ambience was fantastic and some seating offering a nice view of the kitchen. On entering the restaurant you are given a brief tour of the food and other items offered on the menu. Nice touch. The wine list was more then adequate, but no proper red wine glasses to accompany the big reds.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were a little disappointedWe were a little disappointed from the price of the few pieces of Venison that we got,but the flavor was great. The service is outstanding - we love it when Kristina takes care of our table - she is like a tiny hummingbird, flitting effortlessly amongst the tables. She keeps the orders straight, and keeps our wine glasses full! What a treasure!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA stellar dining experience. Our experience at Cypress was exceptional. The culinary skills of the chef and staff are stellar. The menu has many options of international and American foods from meats to fish to vegetables and the bread and dipping garlic olive oil was delicious. We had a lovely bottle of wine from the extensive wine list. The fresh fish is delectable as well. Also the fresh catch of the day is displayed up front on ice. The ambience in the restaurant was also superb. Our service was stellar. We had been driving a long way and were delayed traveling so I called a few times to push back our time and they were most kind. We ended up getting there after closing time and
they waited for us and treated us like royalty. Cypress is spectacular!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to Cyprus many times,I've been to Cyprus many times, always think it is excellent. One of the best things about the restaurant to me is the variety they offer with their daily specials from different parts of the world.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHighlands best culinary experienceCyprus is the choice in Highlands for foodies who crave an eclectic and varied menu of international dishes prepared by a knowledgable and creative chef. There are daily variations of ethnic choices such as Thai, Mediterranian, Continental, etc. dependent upon fresh ingredients available in the region. It can be frustrating when one has favorites to also see something new on the menu or only available that day because the ingredients happened to be available and one just has to try it. Usually that leads to happy serendipity and an expanded culinary experience. Of one gets one of the few available bar stools overlooking the chef cooking the experience is a delight.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAverage food and takes a longAverage food and takes a long time to get it! Kitchen staff looked like they were kind of lost.I got the steak and fries for my dinner. The steak, well that was a different story. I ordered mine medium rare, and it came out pretty close to well done. And it was room temp. Not hot, not even warm. It was a thin piece of meat, had a lot of sinew and gritle. The flavor was ok, not the best steak I've had however.
Our waitress was the best thing that night. She apologized about the wait and gave us a gift certificate, she kept us busy while waiting for the food. We will give it another try.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
