Diner Reviews
  • "I took my teenage granddaughter to dinner. She has traveled a lot and loves International cuisine. Our waitress was very helpful and the presentation of our dinners were excellent. Would highly recommend. Can't wait until they move to the Main St. location."

  • "First time at Cyprus and throughly enjoyed our experience. The food was delicious with a lot of thought put into the menu. We will definitely be coming back to Cyprus for dinner when we come back to the Highlands."

  • "Rarely, if ever, do I order chicken while dining at a restaurant, but the Indonesian Chicken blew my taste-buds away. My wife ordered the salmon/pasta special and was equally impressed. I would advise sitting at the bar, if possible for the birds-eye view of the kitchen and the chef amazingly multi-tasking. If you're in the area, Cyprus is a must. This experience left my wife & I wanting to make the 2.5 hour drive back up for dinner alone this weekend."

  • "There are lots of good restaurants in Highlands, N.C., but my husband and I choose Cyprus as our top favorite. The food is always interesting and delicious. They are willing to adapt recipes for vegans and vegetarians. The service is knowledgeable, attentive, polite and pleasant. Never a disappointment! Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend!"

  • "Best food and dinning experience in years. Food was fantastic every dish we had was spectacular. Service was top notch always aiming to please. Atmosphere was relaxing and fitting to the type of Resturant. Love the options for food nothing like it around our home town of Greenville SC. Go eat here and you will be writing a review like I am, it's that good. Period!"

  • "The menu changes each week but you can't go wrong with this gem! The cowboy ribeye is a menu staple- my favorite! The service is wonderful. Always a lively crowd. They are moving to main street sometime in 2014- that will be nice for people staying at old Edwards although it will probably make it harder to get a reservation. highly recommend- wonderful food and great service. you will not be disappointed."

  • "Cypress always delivers great innovative dishes. Loved the sunchoke soup and pork roast special Friday!"
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "A very wonderful soup - made with sun chokes and fantastic wild mushrooms- was prepared by the new to the staff chef. Need I say, I loved every spoonful. Our server was also outstanding having remembered the wine we ordered at our previous visit two months ago."

  • "Anytime I am in the Highlands, my wife and I make a reservation at Cypress. The food has always been consistent and the service is always spot on. I had Snapper and it was fantastic and my wife had a shrimp meal. Both were fantastic and we will go back as we always do. On another note, Cyprus is moving to Main Street, which is nice because now you can walk from your lodging facility and not have to worry about driving past those pesky Highlands Policeman who are out looking for you. Enjoy your meal..."

  • "Cyprus is a slice of heaven that matches the beautiful mountain scenery in this mountain retreat. The menu is a global tour guide with excellent presentation. This is a MUST if visiting Highlands/Cashiers/Sapphire, NC."

  • "Chef Nick and all his staff do a fantastic job of greeting, serving, preparing a delicious meal and dining experience! We love this restaurant and have been eating here for years....there are lots of nice restaurants in our town, but we prefer Cyprus over ALL others hands down! Thanks for a wonderful meal! We are recent vegans and the chef is more than willing to adapt his recipes to our food restrictions, yet make them tasty and delicious. There are also several vegetarian dishes available along with lots for carnivores! All good!"

  • "The Cyprus restaurant has been one of our favorite restaurants for fine dining for some time. The food is creative without being pretentious. The staff is knowledgeable and engaging. We travel an hour to this spot and have always enjoyed our meals. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!"

  • "The smokiness was bothersome and ruined our meal. The kitchen needs to fix its ventilation problem"

  • "The food, service & open cooking kitchen is all amazing. Never been disappointed. Eating at the bar area is fun, but the tables are romantic. It's all good. They are moving to downtown Highlands soon, I hope it will continue to be one of our favorites, looking forward to the adventure"

  • "We dined here last year while in Highlands and so we were looking forward to our trip this time. What an interesting, unique and fantastic restaurant. Wonderful dishes from all over the world presented in a beautiful way and just delicious. They have a Mexican Hot Chocolate (chocolate, cinnamon and cayenne) dessert which, with vanilla ice cream, is a stunner! Wow! What a talented, creative young chef - 5 Stars Trip Advisor, Wine Spectator Awards too! We will be back on our next trip to Highlands."

  • "I have eaten in this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. I always enjoy trying the very unique dishes from all over the world that you can get at Cyprus but have to say that the lamb chops on the Chop House part of the menu remain my favorite! Sometimes it's fun to go with a friend and sit at the bar to watch Nick cook while eating delicious mussels and drinking wine. Others times it's a wonderful place to go with a group to celebrate someone's birthday. Always special!"

  • "The one thing to specify when you make a reservation is to ask for a quiet booth or table. Often times when there are groups of 8-10, the noise level becomes distracting. I love the open kitchen and almost being a part of the process. They do a great job. Unfortunately, they ran out of one of the specials (and it was still early) that our guest and I ordered. To make up for that, they gave us a half-off gift certificate for one meal in February. Nice gesture."

  • "So, I have eaten at Cyprus many times - when I go to Highlands I always make a reservation. I am always happy and I look forward to sharing meals with friends and introducing them to the great and unique food they prepare. I usually give more stars but the end of the season service was not great. This time was not so good - the waitress obviously was not enjoying her job, was not excited about the food, did not keep our glasses full (nor even bother to ask if we wanted more drinks or wine)."
    Dined on 10/13/2013
  • "Overall good experience. Felt rushed when the server kept asking if I was ready to check out. Drinks were over priced. I would have gladly paid more for the food if the drinks were less. I recommend this restaurant for the food and ambiance, but again this is another restaurant trying to make it on liquor sales."

  • "I frequent this restaurant about once a month and it stays consistently excellent. Ive had about everything on the menu, but I often gravitate to the specials which I find to be inventive and delicious . Never disappoints! Looking forward to visiting their new location on Main St."

  • "Cyprus International Restaurant is the best restaurant I have ever eaten at! They offer an amazing selection of cuisine from around the World with a wide variety of dishes and flavors. If you can, sit near the bar so you can watch the master chef at work. It's an open kitchen so you can see the meals prepared which is fascinating. If you visit only one restaurant while in Highlands, make it this one!!"
    Dined on 12/26/2013
  • "Exotic menu with great taste. Ambiance suffers from the smoke generated from the open kitchen and it was COLD inside. Wait staff may have been short in talent - all in all, worth a visit because of the truly international cuisine. Will survive because of the lack of similar (competitive) offering."
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "I have eaten here a few times and each time it has been a great experience, get a spot at the bar and you can chat with the chef while he prepares your meal."
    Dined on 12/7/2013
  • "We had a wonderful dinner with flavors that we consistently count on Cyprus to deliver. Lamb chop "lollipops" with a pomegranate mousse presented in a raw baby turnip. A burst of delightful flavors individually and when put together, simply over the top. Main course Carolina Flounder was another beautiful presentation and delicious over a tabbouleh salad. Chef is very creative, and never disappoints."

  • "I love this place! Call ahead and reserve the bar/kitchen seats so that you watch Nick, the master chef, while he cooks. The food is fabulous! I had the 8 oz. Filet Mignon Friday night and it was PERFECT! Try the chocolate desert with the little kick of cayenne! Yum! I go to Highlands, NC about twice a year and it always includes a dinner at Cyprus!"

  • "Thanksgiving night dinner was a disappointment. Excessive pricing for very mediocre food. The buffet was mostly removed before our dining was completed. 20% service was automatically charged when it was self-service and we were only two. Our server (for wine, etc) was very nice and attentive,so we might have given that anyway. But being dictated like that was not appreciated. We are not going back there anytime soon."

  • "this was the 5th or 6th time we've been to Cyprus in the last year and, as always, both the service (by josh) and the food were outstanding ... my wife usually orders 2-3 appetizers for her dinner and I have an appetizer and either steak or fish ... their "around the world" menus are fun and interesting and the regular menu items are all top-notch ... great food and great place!"

  • "Cyprus is always an enjoyable adventure with changing menus to reflect the cuisine of various regions of the country and world. Whether one is able to travel the world or not, here you can get a taste of various cuisines from around the world. Armenian food was featured this past week which was great. If a person is not an adventurous eater, there is always a standard steak or fish dish available. Would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We went on a Thursday night at 6:30 and we were a bit skeptical of the place because there were only a few diners there and it was located in a largely unoccupied strip mall.. However, we were warmly greeted by the waitress who introduced us to the open kitchen concept and showed us the food that was featured for the evening. We shared an oyster appetizer (on the half-shell) and I had the roasted duck (in lots of garlic) and my wife had the lamb chops. Everything was excellent and within an hour the restaurant had filled up considerably. I guess we were a bit too early for the local dining custom. I highly recommend Cyprus, and we will definitely return."

  • "The ever changing menu is always exciting and always delicious. Presentation is excellent only to be surpassed by the taste!! This a "never let's you down" restaurant that you can visit often and always come away delighted!"
    Dined on 10/23/2013
  • "The dishes were put together with a lot of creativity using things you don't normally see on one plate. But the taste was excellent! Dining at the bar to watch the chef at work was also an enjoyable experience!"
    Dined on 10/21/2013
  • "This is my 3rd-4th time for dinner at Cyprus. The chef's creativity and research of different cuisines separates it from other menus/chefs' preparations. The use of different spices really stands out but isn't overpowering."
    Dined on 10/21/2013
  • "We introduced four of our friends to Cyprus last weekend and they are still raving! They were blown away with the menu, the wine list and of course the food! PLUS, even though we were there on a very busy Saturday night, Chef Nicholas still took the time to come over to our table to check on us and say hello. His enthusiasm just made our meal even more delicious!"

  • "where else can you go on a wondrous international dining excursion without being pigeonholed into one fare! We've been there only a couple time a year since opening but only because of our busy crazy lives. The past month has been a welcome reprieve and we've made up 3 times....my husband and I are looking forward to the day we are regulars in this fabulously anything but....(but still feels comfortably similar to something you've had before) presentations are perfect, service is top notch, being able to sit at the bar and really watch the chef and his staff do their thing... that is the coolest part! The lamb was superb, the 'Americane' fabulous, the shrimp appetizer stunning, even the bread...omg!"

  • "To serve consistently good food is a challenge; however, to make each dining experience so unique is just amazing. The menus are ALWAYS delightfully creative and delicious and made from the freshest ingredients. I would not even consider going to Highlands and not dining at Cyprus!!!"
