FantasticI think this is the best food and service I have ever had anywhere.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLove wasabi tunaSince first time at restaurant, was looking forward to coming back. Did not disappoint. Very knowledgeable and friendly waitstaff6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal in my favorite cityHaven't been to cypress in years, but when in town for a recent vacation it was on the list to make reservations. Still great as I remembered and clearly the best meal of my trip. We went early before a ghost tour later and it was perfect.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA GREAT LOOKING RESTAURANTCypress is two floors with the bar upstairs. It's visually a great looking restaurant with colored lights on the ceiling that change from pinks to blues to greens. We got a lovely booth that allowed us to look out over the restaurant. At first the service was great. Our waiter was very friendly. Service slowed a bit and it was hard to find someone to refill our water glasses. We didn't even get asked if we wanted another glass of wine which presumably is how most restaurants make money. The food was good. Not great but good. Go there for the atmosphere.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Enjoyable Evening at CypressOur dinner at Cypress was quite good. Although the lobster bisque could have used a bit more cream for my taste, everything else that we ordered was tasty and well-presented. The veal special was interesting. Meat from several parts of the calf were pressed into a loaf and then given a light coating of panko crumbs. I enjoyed it a lot. My wife's wreckfish was delicious as well. Service suffered a few lapses due to our server being somewhat slammed.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFine Dining in Low CountryCypress is one of many great fine dining restaurants in the heart of old Charleston. A modern room is complemented by interesting spins on dishes coming from the kitchen. The night we were there, the chef spun oysters on the half shell topped with thin slices of sushi grade tuna and pineapple wasabi for appetizers: Yum!. We followed with the entree special for the night; pulled veal re-joined and grill pressed served over broccoli and other veggies and chile spiced sauce. Delicious. Recommended for delicious dining, special occasion. As it seemed with everywhere we dined in Charleston, emphasis is on locally sourced ingredients, all fresh, fresh, fresh.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMKnowledgeable wait staffOur waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and had tasted everything so she was able to provide very good recommendations. Our guests were from New York City and have dined at many fine restaurants, but they always find the ones in Charleston to be the best. I also asked for the bartender to "surprise me" with a good gin drink and he delivered!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent MealI spent considerable time locating a restaurant for a family vacation with my parents. Cypress was recommended by several locals, and it lived up to the recommendation. We started off with a bottle of Merlot and a cheese plate in the bar area while we waited for our 7:45 reservation. The snack and wine was fantastic. For dinner, we had the wasabi tuna, diver scallops and pork belly, and the NC chicken. We split a gnocchi and mushroom side. All meals were great. Would recommend for sure.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFor a special night outA bit expensive but worth it Large portions, but I am continually surprised that a salad or something besides a plate is not included at these prices. Large space which could accommodate big groups.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding ServiceThe food was just delicious - I savored the pulled pork special. But the service, from the young woman at the front to the wait staff were all impeccable in fulfilling their respective roles. I highly recommend this eatery from all perspectives.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLess than perfect this timeWe've eaten here many times and have always had a great experience. This time was the exception, and it was due to our waiter. We'll go back again, but will be asking for anyone other than the waiter we had.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMCypress is a mustWith all of the awesome food choices in Charleston, it's always tough to decide, but Cypress is on our must visit list for our annual Memorial Day weekend trip! The Tuna & Oyster appetizer never disappoints. We veered from our beloved tuna edamame phyllo dish for the special soft shell crabs and were delighted! Grand Marnier souffle is also a GREAT dessert!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAn interesting experienceAn interesting experience at a lovely venue. Smoked salmon Wellington just perfect! Attentive staff, great table side Caesar salad. Would recommend without hesitation.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMwine and beefHad an excellent Chateaubriand accompanied by a fine French red that the waiter recommended....excellent attentive service and good food..can't ask for more5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat MartiniWe tried two different ones and they were fabulous. Also best waiter, informative and friendly.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect SettingWe needed a place for an early dinner before a Spoleto performance and Cypress was perfect. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was nicely presented and the dishes were well prepared. Overall a very pleasant dining experience. We had not been to Cypress for a long while but it is back on our "go to" places.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIf only...The waiter did not do his shtick. Our fifth time dining at Cypress and the food is terrific, innovative and with an adventurous menu. Food-wise Cypress is a good deal better than much-hyped Husk and among the best dining experiences in Charleston. The restaurant does a good job in having Open Table slots even when busy and it is a worthy fine dining experience. But the last two times we have had a server whose shtick is a bit more over the top than I enjoy. It's not that he is unprofessional, he is far too talky and if your need or worst still, your drink request, is caught behind his rap at the next table, you'll wait too far long and hear the same stuff. Dinners at the next table seemed enthralled by him so its a matter of taste.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, excellentVery good food, excellent service, horribly over priced.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique and MasterfulWhat an incredible restaurant! Right down to the service, this spot far exceeds anything we expected. You'll have a hard time deciding which cocktail to order as they read like enticingly scientific elixers. We tried 3 and all were superb. There were just 2 of us and we decided to split a salad, an entree and a dessert. Do not miss the seared tuna as it is a signature dish with a sauce that you'll never taste the likes of again. The salad (bibb lettuce with bacon jam) was only ok, a bit too much going on. The dessert strawberry / raspberry charlotte is lovely, frozen and smooth. Our servers were friendly and very informed. They were excited about the menu as well as the drinks and they wanted us to ask them anything.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMCrisp Wasabi Tuna - WOWMy wife ordered the Crisp Wasabi Tuna and it is one of the best dishes I've ever tasted. I ordered the Filet of Beef and it was really good but to me the cheese sauce they put on it adds distraction to the taste of the meat. Next time ill just ask them to leave the sauce off because it is a melt in your mouth filet. Also, we had the pimiento cheese appetizer. I didn't know pimiento cheese could be THAT GOOD!! Excellent experience for us.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food! The food was fantastic, price is on the steep side but it was well worth it. I'm a huge fan of the oyster sashimi appetizer.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceWe intensively enjoyed the evening in a beautiful atmosphere and with terrific food. This place can be recommended to everyone who is a friend of finest dining.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFit for a Queen! My family took me to Cypress for Mother's Day. Impressed with whole package: decor, service, and food, especially 32-ounce Bone-in Rib Eye, Crab Cake (not normally crab cake person), & Mango Martini. Truly delightful experience, and I left feeling like a Queen!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always enjoy Cypress -We always enjoy Cypress - we had a great meal for Mother's Day, good service, food, as always was perfect!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost fabulousService was top notch. Food was very good, but not quite fabulous. We both had the pork chop with corn cake, and a light sauce. The sauce was delightful, the corn cake interesting and tasty. The pork chop was good. The only thing that kept my rating from being overall fabulous was that the pork chop could have been a bit more moist. I'm not capable of cooking a really moist and juicy pork chop, so I look for that in restaurants. The Cypress version wasn't quite there. Still, I'd recommend the restaurant. We probably should have gone for one of the Low County specials. I'll do that next time.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery cool restaurantWe took out of town guests here. Beautiful restaurant. Food is creative but not too crazy! Definitely something for everyone on the menu. Portion sizes are not huge but are just right especially if you get an appetizer or salad in addition.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCypressThis was our best meal during our stay om Charleston. You have to try the Encrusted Tuna.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOverallVery nice restaurant with good food and good service.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great MealCypress seems to have found just the right balance in food, service and setting. The menu was creative without straining to be unique; the food preparation and presentation were flawless. The service was impeccable - we were gently tended to by a team of attentive employees, including the manager, but never felt they were hovering. Too many contemporary restaurants have harsh acoustics (euphemistically called "lively") - Cypress has just the right balance of liveliness without the noise. Although we didn't order wine, the 3-story wall of wine was impressive.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as AlwaysBrought guests from out of town. Food was outstanding and we had another great nite at Cypress5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently GreatAlways an excellent choice for great food and service. The bar area is a must for pre or post dinner drinks. The atmosphere is very good. We enjoy downstairs seating because of the lighting that changes colors. Try this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMy FavoriteCypress is my favorite restaurant in all of Charleston. Always have had impeccable service, great menu, and the 40 foot wine wall! Can't wait to come back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe cannot say enough aboutWe cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had at Cypress on Saturday. We could not get into the popular restaurants of the day, namely Husk, Fig and The Ordinary but we could not have been happier about every aspect of the dinner.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was very knowledgableOur server was very knowledgable on the menu and wine. We have been there several times since Cypress opened and have always had a good experience. We particularlly like to a table on the first floor in a booth where we can talk without straining and watch the ceiling lights change colors.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCypress is always enjoyable.Cypress is always enjoyable. In a town with many fine eateries, it ranks near the top. We keep going back for our anniversary, but also like to dine there at other times of the year. Sometimes it is just fun to drop in at the upstairs bar and have small plates and desserts.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, wonderful staff.Great food, wonderful staff. They know their stuff4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy only problem with theMy only problem with the meal at Cypress was : we waited quite awhile between courses and the filet was delivered room temperature not warm or hot...4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMCypress is by far our favoriteCypress is by far our favorite restaurant. Love, love, love everything on the menu.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMCypress in April 2013I would like to see a chicken option on the menu that does not contain curry
and a fish option that is not on a sea of mashed green peas which is not appetizing
We ordered beef which was fabulous and had a great crust on the outside.
the broccoli outstanding but the parmesan potatoes were too dense and dry
Great atmosphere and service !!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous DinnerWe had a tour of Cypress the day before on a chef's tour and knew we had to eat there. The chef had given a description of the special he was planning. Soft shell crab and veal was the special. It was incredible with roasted heirloom carrots and asparagus. The veal was shredded froma shank and pressed into a square a seared with a mustard coating. Very delicious. The place is beautiful and romantic. Modern but tied into the charm of Charleston. The service was excellent as well. I will be eating there again when I pass through town.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Cypress was excellent. As always, Cypress was excellent. We had the Caesar, surprisingly still prepared correctly tableside from scratch. The Steak Diane and Pork Chop were perfectly cooked to temperature and presented well. It is a true pleasure to return there. Our server, David did a great job working with our desired slower pace and we thank him for that. We will return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent anniversary dinner! We had our anniversary dinner at Cypress and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was interesting and plentiful, with plenty of options. The wine was quite good and the Scallops were wonderful. I highly recommend it.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!! Just moved to CharlestonLoved it!! Just moved to Charleston and what a wonderful way rto get aquainted with the city. The service was top notch! We were very impressed with the helpfulness and hospitality of the staff! Food was uniquely paired and tastefully presented! We enjoyed an excellent, romantic dinner!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOrder the Crisp Wasabi Tuna,Order the Crisp Wasabi Tuna, it's wonderful! Reasonably priced for exceptional food and service. Save room for dessert, they have a new pastry chef.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMChic Atmosphere and Great FoodCypress has a wonderful atmosphere...from the three story wall of wine to the glass railings and contemporary furniture, all juxtaposed against a classic Charleston building with brick walls.
Food was excellent. Our party of four had the steak Diane, the filet, the tuna, and a mixed plate of succotash, crab cakes, and the ricotta gnochi. All were excellent (though the gnochi was a bit bland), but the show stealer as far as we were concerned was the pimento cheese appetizer. Heaven!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall great experience.Overall great experience. Seated promptly and on time. Food and wine was great, service was terrific, atmosphere and decor was great.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMChic Atmosphere and Great FoodCypress has a wonderful atmosphere...from the three story wall of wine to the glass railings and contemporary furniture, all juxtaposed against a classic Charleston building with brick walls.

The local oysters were delicious and the service was top notch!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday Night DinnerThe pea shoots salad with ham came without the pea shoots, but the water brought argula when I called this to his attention. He said they were out of peashoots. The crab cake was excellent, but I have had better relish or salsa with crabcakes. My husband's chicken dinner was rather ordinary.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
