  • "Only disappointment was the wine list which had over the top (and inconsistent) markups over retail. That said the nightly special Brunelo was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. we all stuck to fish, and it was perfectly prepared, with just the right amount of flavoring to enhance the fish's natural taste. My fellow suppers thought the souffle was one of the best they had ever had."

  • "The food was excellent. The service a bit slow but acceptable. The restaurant was relatively empty which detracted from the ambiance. The lack of diners was likely explained by an early visit on a rainy Monday evening. A must when dining in Charleston!"

We had the single lady oysters and split the Almond Brie Salad. Both were fantastic. The main course was the Tuna and I want to go back just to get it again. Charleston has a lot of great food choices and this is one of them for sure!"

  • "The wine was lovely, the asparagus soup was tasty but over salted, the filet was done perfectly and the potato and asparagus sides were excellent. The booth they gave us was too tight to sit at and the seating girl was not too keen on getting us a table instead. The entrees took over an hour to show up, and when we complained that we had a play to attend around the corner, the waitress said we should have said we were in a hurry. The service needs to be a lot better to justify the premium prices. ."

  • "We visited Charleston for a family vacation and visited Cypress early during our trip. Two members of our family are gluten-free. We found there were several gluten free options on the menu, and a number of others could be modified to be free of gluten. The atmosphere, service and food were excellent. We enjoyed it so much, we visited a second time during our trip to try other menu items. That time was excellent also. The restaurant and its sister restaurants have their own lot conveniently located near the restaurants, which was very appreciated. Can't wait until we return!"

  • "The dining room at Cypress was simple and elegant, a perfect place to have an anniversary celebration for our daughter and son-in-law. Two of us had the lamb shoulder and two had the pork chops; we shared a dish of fried mac and cheese and a dish of field peas. All of the food was very good, and the portions were generous. The pork chops were twice the size of ones normally served in a restaurant. The lamb shoulder was shredded, made into two good-size square patties and sauted--no knife needed! We had a nice bottle of Pino Noir with our meal and finished with a piece of molten lava cake and coffee. Delicious! The service was excellent--unobtrusive and not rushed. We enjoyed our dinning experience at Cypress and would return again."

  • "Cypress is a well run hip and energetic restaurant. The hostess, servers and managers are all pros, polished but friendly and gracious. You definitely feel welcome. Nothing is rushed, there was no pressure to move on because a second seating was waiting. We asked our waiter, Graham, to pace the service so we could enjoy the wine between courses and this was no problem. The food was excellent, my wife had the salad special and I had the charcuterie plate. The salad was good but the charcuterie was great. Mains were pan roasted pink snapper. Perfectly cooked. Delicious. We shared a great side of gnocchi which was not really necessary as the portions were ample. All in all a great night out. Highly recommended."

  • "If you like good food, you can't go wrong with Cypress! The food was superb! We started with 1/2 dozen oysters "Single Lady", d followed with soup - my husband had the lobster bisque and I had the asparagus soup with smoked salmon - which was wonderful! He had the snapper for dinner and I had smoked salmon wellington. Mine was good, but his was even better. Having the wine list on an Ipad at the table was fun for us. I read some of the other reviews about the colored lights changing and I was worried that we might find it distracting as some other reviewers had said. We prefer a more energetic atmosphere to a "stuffy" one and the changing lights were so subtle it just added to the ambience.,,, We thoroughly enjoyed our evening."

  • "Cypress was excellent. If I could, I would have given it 4.5 stars -- 4 isn't enough but the service keeps it from a full 5. My girlfriend and I went on a Thursday evening, and arrived at about 7 to a fairly empty restaurant. By the time we were eating our entrees, every table was full but the noise level was tolerable. This transition certainly impacted our service. When we first arrived the waitress chatted with us for a long time -- a few different times. But, when the people started rolling through, we hardly saw her. It wouldn't have mattered much, but we waited a very long time to receive our check. Maybe 25 minutes or so after our plates where cleared away. The food, however, was top notch. Highly recommend if you want to spend $."

  • "The food is fresh and creative. The dining room is elegant and spacious with fun touches, like the lights in the ceiling gradually shifting from one color to another. We had a wonderful waitress who gave us good advice and made us feet at home. We didn't order much of the seafood, which is a house specialty, but I can say that the lobster bisque is beyond luscious, while the crab cakes were a bit disappointing. The Korean steak was seasoned wonderfully and the ricotta gnocchi were the lightest ever. The portions were huge so it was good that we had a fridge to take leftovers back to. The steak was even better the next day!"

  • "My husband and I ate at Cypress on St. Patrick's Day while in town for a little get-away. Our meal was excellent and am glad we decided to eat there instead of another restaurant. The wine selection seemed a little daunting until we were handed an iPad and were able to sort through the vast wine selection. We opted for one of the many 1/2 bottles for our meal and enjoyed cocktails with our appetizer. Will definitely look into dining there again if we're back in town."

  • "The lobster bisque is very traditional and absolutely wonderful! Have the cure, my husband now enjoys martinis. The charcuterie platter was tasty, and they had 3 to choose from. Pick the one that sounds great for you. My husband had the Charleston red snapper he could have used some salt. I had the filet special, very tasty. The desserts were very old school, but delicious. I had the lava cake and my husband had the baked Alaska. I would go back anytime. The only thing that we had to adjust to was the lighting."

  • "Cypress certainly surpassed my expectations. From the great wine and cocktail list, to the tasty oysters and then the very delish entree meals. I had the crispy wasabi tuna while my boyfriend had one of their steaks. We both agreed that was one of the best meals we've had in a while. At the end, we finished with the creme brûlée. I usually don't like this kind of dessert but Cypress' was not an ordinary one. To conclude, I would love to return if I had the chance again. I recommend this restaurant to any food lover. They wouldn't be disappointed."
