Cypressgreat dealThe quality and number of foods brought to us-and the mimosas, were more than generous and the final check so modest I felt obliged to tip 50% for Nick and Raley.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful meal and service!Wonderful meal and service! We had an outstanding server and the tableside presentation was fantastic. Appitzer (salmon) was delicious....cesear sadad "old school" not heavy on garlic or oils-delicious.....NY steak with au poivre sauce outstanding, banana foster a perfect finish...great wine list! We will definitely go back, pricy but well worth it!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBoth my guest and I enjoyedBoth my guest and I enjoyed our lunch. Our server was attentive. I'll return to try some other items on menu.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMHealthier than Parisian foodHealthier than Parisian food but no less delicious. A great benefit of combining Californian fresh produce with French cuisine.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSpoliedWe were tired of the same old Walnut Creek scene and wanted to try something new.
What a surprise to find a restaurant with fantastic service and some special fare. We couldn't pick wrong. Not a bad dish appeared on our table (and between our part of four there was a lot of food on that table). Great appetizers and side dishes, NY steak cooked table side, all served with perfect timing and spacing.
I am excited to return for a second adventure.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNice but Sloppy ServiceSevers seemed really young, which is okay, if they're trained right. Ours seemed to not know menu very well, then a runner slopped mussel sauce all over the table, didn't seem very phased by it, must happen a lot. Didn't get on us but close. Vests were a mess which is unacceptable if restaurants provides, they need to keep that and extra shirts on hand and inspect. It's a bright restaurant and that was very unappetizing. They were very accommodating. Chef/owner was fawning over table next to us but did not seem to notice anyone else including us. We'll possibly try them again, but no hurry due to issues. Food was really good.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss out on Cypress! These days good service is hard to find anywhere let alone in the F&B business. Cypress is THE exception! Our hostess was smiling, friendly and attentive, and Jose our waiter was OUTSTANDING! The food was excellent! We had 10 people and everyone loved their dish. We had the Ceasar salad, Salmon, NY Steak (cooked to perfection at the table by Jose), Grilled Ahi and the delicious Banana Foster cooked at the table to finish the meal was out of this world! The best part of the meal? A must have side of Dungeness Crab Mashed Potatoes! Make your reservation now!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMind Numbering NoiseThe walls and floor are uncovered concrete. It's crowded(popular!) but the need for the waiter to shout shows it needs big time accoustic help. Hang drapes on the walls, flags from the ceilings. You can't hear each other!
The MENU, SERVICE, and FOOD was teffific!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCypress impressesThe meal sizes are more American than French, the food more California than anything. Very tasty. The big difference is the table side prep of the various offerings. You just don't get that at many restaurants. Piano was a nice touch, windows that open up to the street are nice too. +$200 for party of four.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional service (thanks,Exceptional service (thanks, Jose - our server)who was exceptional. Food was good. Very very loud.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, great atmosphere...Great service, great atmosphere... beautiful restaurant. The food was presented very nice, but tasted just ok. We ordered the crab cakes which were dry. The steak tartar was fresh and looked great, but tasted bland. Same goes with the main dishes... looked great, tasted decent, but not outstanding. Our waiter was fantastic, as one everyone else that worked there.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our dinner at Cypress. We enjoyed our dinner at Cypress. Having just returned from two weeks in France, we needed another "fix" of French food and Cypress did not disappoint. It is truly food fit for a Francophile. The room is a bit noisy and the service is good although at times a bit too attentive (we're not in a hurry; it's Saturday night for crying out loud!). This is a great restaurant, though, and I would make a return reservation in a heartbeat.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMChic trendy and TastySuper nice hostess. Accomodating waiter. Table side Caesar salad delicious. Steak tartare amazing. Mac n cheese delicious. Fried Brussels sprouts fantastic. Skip the fried calamari, it was so greasy it was dripping on the table leaving grease stains. Gross. Not a fan of the cocktails, I've had better Moscow mules. Stick with wine. The crab and watermelon salad had potential but too much crab and portion way too large. 2 of our party of 5 arrived late and it was no problem. I am looking forward to trying the salmon Napoleon and Cobian fish. Very chic and stylish little restaurant with piano bar. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMToo noisyWe decided to try Cypress for Walnut Creek's Restaurant Week. It was a great deal and the food and service were good. But the noise! We won't go back at least on the weekend for that reason. Tile floors don't help; we couldn't talk except by yelling in each other's ears.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food, the bar is wonderful.great food, the bar is wonderful. Only complaint is the noise level...too loud to have comfortable conversation.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, Great, Great... andGreat, Great, Great... and I love the atmosphere with the piano/singer in the bar area. Loved the piano player. The service was WONDERFUL. Our waiter was very polite and helpful. His name started with an "M". Marucio maybe? He even walked us to the door upon exit. The food was excellent!! Absolutely suburb!! I'd eat there every night if I could! Thank you Cypress!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBeyound chocolate tart.We participated in the restaurant week price fixed menue. The portions were more than enough and the chocolate tart was fabulous!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food and excellentLoved the food and excellent service. However, I'm sorry to say the noise level was such that we won't be returning for dinner.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here for the first timeWent here for the first time and had their brunch. Inventive cocktails, and tasty bar bites. We will definitely be back for happy hour. Dinner was good. Several table side preps--Caesar salad, Steak, bananas foster added a fun touch. Service was attentive all around.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe did not love the cocktailsWe did not love the cocktails menu but the food is DELICIOUS!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time dinningThis was my first time dinning at Cypress and it was excellent. I enjoyed the duck, my wife had the flat iron steak(done to perfection) and our guest had the pork which was outstanding. Service was great, the waiter was very knowledgable about all the entrees and the wine.We especially enjoyed the live piano music during our dinning experience. Very imaginative menu.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI had their Steak BenedictI had their Steak Benedict with onions and bell pepper. It was delicious!!! Kimberly was our waitress. She is new, she has potential. She was very nervous and maybe a tad overly attentive. Brunch on a Sunday is a great experience with a group of friends! Prices are average. Check it out!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch but salads too saltyLoved my Chicken w/Brie sandwich lunch which came with a salad and homemade potatoe chips. My sister had the hanger steak lunch w/salad and chips which was excellent too. The only thing we didn't like was that the salads had too much table salt sprinkled on them - couldn't eat them. Told the server, so hopefully they'll be less salty next time.2/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice chardonnay and generousVery nice chardonnay and generous pours for Happy Hour wines!2/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
