CypressGreat food! The food was fantastic, price is on the steep side but it was well worth it. I'm a huge fan of the oyster sashimi appetizer.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always enjoy Cypress -We always enjoy Cypress - we had a great meal for Mother's Day, good service, food, as always was perfect!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFit for a Queen! My family took me to Cypress for Mother's Day. Impressed with whole package: decor, service, and food, especially 32-ounce Bone-in Rib Eye, Crab Cake (not normally crab cake person), & Mango Martini. Truly delightful experience, and I left feeling like a Queen!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost fabulousService was top notch. Food was very good, but not quite fabulous. We both had the pork chop with corn cake, and a light sauce. The sauce was delightful, the corn cake interesting and tasty. The pork chop was good. The only thing that kept my rating from being overall fabulous was that the pork chop could have been a bit more moist. I'm not capable of cooking a really moist and juicy pork chop, so I look for that in restaurants. The Cypress version wasn't quite there. Still, I'd recommend the restaurant. We probably should have gone for one of the Low County specials. I'll do that next time.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery cool restaurantWe took out of town guests here. Beautiful restaurant. Food is creative but not too crazy! Definitely something for everyone on the menu. Portion sizes are not huge but are just right especially if you get an appetizer or salad in addition.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCypressThis was our best meal during our stay om Charleston. You have to try the Encrusted Tuna.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOverallVery nice restaurant with good food and good service.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great MealCypress seems to have found just the right balance in food, service and setting. The menu was creative without straining to be unique; the food preparation and presentation were flawless. The service was impeccable - we were gently tended to by a team of attentive employees, including the manager, but never felt they were hovering. Too many contemporary restaurants have harsh acoustics (euphemistically called "lively") - Cypress has just the right balance of liveliness without the noise. Although we didn't order wine, the 3-story wall of wine was impressive.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as AlwaysBrought guests from out of town. Food was outstanding and we had another great nite at Cypress5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently GreatAlways an excellent choice for great food and service. The bar area is a must for pre or post dinner drinks. The atmosphere is very good. We enjoy downstairs seating because of the lighting that changes colors. Try this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMy FavoriteCypress is my favorite restaurant in all of Charleston. Always have had impeccable service, great menu, and the 40 foot wine wall! Can't wait to come back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGarish decor trumped by great foodEverything about the food and service was great. The waitress was knowledgeable and helpful and did a masterful job of making a Caesar salad right at the table. The jarring note was the weird color changing ceiling lights, but we learned to ignore them.
Huge walls on the booths (if you can get one) made it like a private dining room.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe cannot say enough aboutWe cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had at Cypress on Saturday. We could not get into the popular restaurants of the day, namely Husk, Fig and The Ordinary but we could not have been happier about every aspect of the dinner.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was very knowledgableOur server was very knowledgable on the menu and wine. We have been there several times since Cypress opened and have always had a good experience. We particularlly like to a table on the first floor in a booth where we can talk without straining and watch the ceiling lights change colors.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCypress is always enjoyable.Cypress is always enjoyable. In a town with many fine eateries, it ranks near the top. We keep going back for our anniversary, but also like to dine there at other times of the year. Sometimes it is just fun to drop in at the upstairs bar and have small plates and desserts.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, wonderful staff.Great food, wonderful staff. Love, love, love everything on the menu.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMCypress in April 2013I would like to see a chicken option on the menu that does not contain curry
and a fish option that is not on a sea of mashed green peas which is not appetizing
We ordered beef which was fabulous and had a great crust on the outside.
the broccoli outstanding but the parmesan potatoes were too dense and dry
Great atmosphere and service !!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous DinnerWe had a tour of Cypress the day before on a chef's tour and knew we had to eat there. The chef had given a description of the special he was planning. Soft shell crab and veal was the special. It was incredible with roasted heirloom carrots and asparagus. The veal was shredded froma shank and pressed into a square a seared with a mustard coating. Very delicious. The place is beautiful and romantic. Modern but tied into the charm of Charleston. The service was excellent as well. I will be eating there again when I pass through town.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Cypress was excellent. As always, Cypress was excellent. We had the Caesar, surprisingly still prepared correctly tableside from scratch. The Steak Diane and Pork Chop were perfectly cooked to temperature and presented well. It is a true pleasure to return there. Our server, David did a great job working with our desired slower pace and we thank him for that. We will return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent anniversary dinner! We had our anniversary dinner at Cypress and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Save room for dessert, they have a new pastry chef.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMChic Atmosphere and Great FoodCypress has a wonderful atmosphere...from the three story wall of wine to the glass railings and contemporary furniture, all juxtaposed against a classic Charleston building with brick walls.
Food was excellent. Our party of four had the steak Diane, the filet, the tuna, and a mixed plate of succotash, crab cakes, and the ricotta gnochi. All were excellent (though the gnochi was a bit bland), but the show stealer as far as we were concerned was the pimento cheese appetizer. Heaven!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall great experience.Overall great experience. Seated promptly and on time. The local oysters were delicious and the service was top notch!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday Night DinnerThe pea shoots salad with ham came without the pea shoots, but the water brought argula when I called this to his attention. He said they were out of peashoots. The crab cake was excellent, but I have had better relish or salsa with crabcakes. My husband's chicken dinner was rather ordinary.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCypress is our favorite restaurantCypress is our favorite restaurant in Charleston! The dessert was great.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of Charleston's BestOne of the best places to dine in Charleston, time and time again! The chateaubriand for 2 was wonderful, cooked perfectly to temp, tender and delicious. Enticing cocktails to start, warm bread with soft butter, a great selection of wines, a new twist on old favorite tuna tartare, and a sinful chocolate pie dessert all contribute to a fantastic dining experience. The waitstaff is friendly, yet professional and knowledgeable about what they do.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile in Charleston we ateWhile in Charleston we ate here, Pennisula Grill, Magnolias, Circa 1886. This was my favorite. All the others were very good as well but had different atmosphere.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother find in CharlestonAnother great find in Charleston! The food is kind of low country meets Asian fusion, which was really good. Charleston is really living up to its rep as one of the best food destinations in the country. A good wine by the glass list made ordering a bottle unnecessary for the two of us as it was easy to pair with the courses. We will be back for more!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfully eclectic place...theWonderfully eclectic place...the ceiling ever changing color lighting did have me
A bit unnerved at times, though I d go back. The waiter could describe each entree

The tuna & oyster appetizer blew our minds... so many flavors in one bite! While they are wonderful restaurants specializing in southern cuisine, Cypress specializes in more modern food trends. All three are great.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and presentation!Outstanding food and presentation! The charcuterie was superb!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I have dined atMy wife and I have dined at Cypress several times over the years, but we both agreed that this was the best meal we'd had there, which isn't to say the others weren't great too. We shared the rack of lamb and it was done to perfection. Our guests shared the Steak Diane and they both raved about the meal. A special of pork belly with peas was delicious too, combining many flavors delightfully. Our server was a pro too. Very good way to show off Charleston to our friends.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat table for a romanticGreat table for a romantic evening. Our server, Jacob was very attentive.
