Our party of 3 was seated at a large table for 5+ and there were many empty tables. When we asked to be relocated, we were placed at a 4 top, behind a pole, with no room on either side of the table. The table was missing settings and the hostess seemed annoyed by our request to move. We felt very unwelcome. We sat for quite a while before our server appeared. Once she did the service was very good. The food was another matter however. My spouse's favorite dish from the Houston restaurant had very little sauce and was dry. My combination came with a cheese enchilada - cheese not melted and tortilla hard and a taco al carbon made with dry, dry pork - not beef - a fact not mentioned on the menu. Food is overpriced and not good Tex-Mex.

At first we were seated in a small cutout right next to a large group of ~15 people. The shape of the cutout area made the noise VERY loud. When we asked to change tables, the waiter moved us immediately and happily. Once we were out in the main dining area, the noise level was back to normal and a conversation was possible. Our appetizer came out a little slow, but we barely noticed because we had our complimentary chips and salsa to munch on. Even though we didn't complain about the late appetizer, the manager came over and apologized. The entrees were very good (steak and Camarones fajitas, fish tacos). I'd put them just below Guapo's and Uncle Julio's, but definitely better than most Mexican restaurants in the area.

  • 3rd time is NOT a charm

This is the 3rd time we've been here and each time the experience has been terrible. We keep giving this place a shot, but end up disappointed every time. The servers are amateurs - they have no clue. But that's not surprising because management doesn't set a good example. Food is really terrible - they're lazy in the kitchen. They can't even send out the correct dressing for the salads. Silverware comes out dirty - that's even if you get any. You have to ask for it. Cloth napkins are dirty. Really, this place has no redeeming qualities at all - and yet it's always crowed. Don't get it. Brought a friend there from out of town and was totally embarrassed by the experience. WILL NOT be returning to this place.

I am a displaced Texan and I know my way around good Tex-Mex. And Cyclone Anaya's is REALLY good Tex-Mex. Have been away from my home state for many years and have so missed traditional Tex-Mex fare like chalupas and tamales. Really, those are impossible to find on menus of "wanna be Tex Mex" restaurants in the DC area. Both were on the menu here & both were outstanding. I will be back, y'all.

There is absolutely nothing special about Cyclone Anaya. The food is average and overpriced. I was so hoping for a high quality Mexican restaurant in our area and I'm still looking.
