  • "The absolutely spectacular views and vistas of the Pacific Ocean were matched with great service and some terrific tastes. Very much on my "Return To" list."

  • "We took my daughter here for her birthday - had drinks at the bar during sunset, which was nice. They seated us at a nice booth, but there was absolutely no light on our table. We had the only table without a recessed light over it, and when I asked for more candles, they ignored my request. We could hardly read our menus and our dinner was in semi-darkness. The food was fine and the service was OK,, but there was a table of people who were very loud, so it was difficult to hear one another. I would go back at at earlier time or a weekday, but not on the weekend again. Pricy and too loud."

  • "Restaurant and bar were extremely chic and the drinks list was awesome but everything was very expensive and while the food was very good, there wasn't a ton of it. But if you're looking for a sexy place to have an interesting drink, this is an awesome spot."

  • "Frequently, restaurants with a view underperform when it comes to food. CUSP outperforms. The flavor combinations are quite creative and always tasty. On this visit, we particularly liked the rhubarb crisp with basil ice cream; truly excellent. A great high point is the bar, which makes excellent cocktails (even has a few "build your own" alternatives). And, yes, the view of LaJolla and the Shores is spectacular."

  • "We had a wonderful time at Cusp. The ambience, the view, the food, all were outstanding. Friendly service was icing on the cake."

  • "Cusp is my go-to spot for HH. The HH menu is always changing and so, so, so delicious! I am never disappointed. The bartenders and friendly. The view of the La Jolla beach is awesome. I always am lucky to get there for the sunset. This is a great spot for a first date - you will score major points if you take you lady/man there. I definite must. Recently, I had the Bolegnese and Lamb Burger, which were both delicious!!!"

  • "Restaurant is limited in their drink selections. They really do need to get with the program. We women especially love to drink our fruit flavored martinis. They really do need to work on adding a better selection of cocktails. Restaurant is limited to drink selections. We women especially love to drink our fruit flavored martinis. My friends and I wouldn't mind going for happy hour as I did once but because of the restaurants limited selection and that was a year ago. I have not returned for happy hour. However, during restaurant week, my husband and I decided to try it out. Still disappointed in the cocktail selections, sorry to say."

  • "This place was great! The views are great, you see all of La Jolla and their triangular shaped tables make it so you can see your dinner companion yet still take in the view. Make your reservation between 5 and 6pm to take advantage of their sunset special, then relax with a glass of wine and watch the view unfold."

  • "Every aspect of the experience was good or very good. There are some oddities to the layout and special qualities. The service was attentive, the food well conceived and the environment a bit "three meals a day" but still comfortable for dinner."

  • "didn't realize that restaurant week had been extended and we'd HAVE to order the fixed price meal. Best selections were $5 above the "fixed price". Drinks at the bar were VERY expensive, and very small glass of beer! But the cosmo was delicious!"

  • "Cusp is a lovely restaurant that just misses greatness. It has a view beyond compare, but that's lost at night. The food was all good, but had little flair. Service is excellent."

  • "We selected Cusp to celebrate one of our birthdays during restaurant week. Actually chose it for its price and location. That said all 4 of us will most definitely return. Service, food and ambiance were DELIGHTFUL! Thanks"

  • "Very nicely done restaurant with great ambience and good service. The food was good, but not memorable - the view, however is to die for. Quite the romantic hotspot!"

  • "The view is outstanding and if you can get there at sunset it is a fabulous backdrop. Food was very good and the service is terrific, extremely cordial and pleasant. We took a friend for her birthday and it was a wonderful evening. This is about the 4th or 5th time we've been to Cusp and we've never been disappointed."

  • "We arrived just after sunset, sat at the windows and watched the colors change over La Jolla cove. It was spectacular. The food and the service held up under the pressure of the view and we enjoyed our entire experience. The apple fritter was stunning!"

  • "I love the new look of the restaurant and bar. They have a magnificent drink menu to die for! The food and desert was excellent! In addition, service was great too! I would visit again and tell others as well."

  • "...but still nice and we'd go back but might only do dinner. Went to brunch/lunch;enjoyed ourselves but they could bring it up a notch with just a few changes. Service was very good but the restaurant was basically empty (from noon to 1:30). It's always nice if the server asks if you want anything else (coffee?) before bringing the bill.Had the open face egg melt with the egg on top of toast, arugula and cheese. The only offered side was more toast? Had nice potatoes with it but fruit would have been great with it too. We asked for bread to start and they didn't have any - only at dinner. So we ordered some plain (olive oil) flatbread and it was $12 and very, very crispy. Why not some rolls/small muffins to start?"

  • "This restaurant has great views from every table. Brunch was spectacular on a bright sunny day. We came after Christmas so the second or third string in the kitchen and serving may have been on duty. Couldn't get coffee to save my life. After three asks we got exactly that, one coffee. No refills. Came in with reservation but no one at the hostess stand. Had to walk in to find anyone working. Food selection limited but well prepared, nothing special. I'll give it another try not around a holiday."
    Dined on 12/29/2013
  • "Frankly, just about perfect - 5 p.m. as the sun was setting, nice Christmas Day menu - limited but good, creative choices. My husband and I both got the smoked salmon/roasted asparagus starter which was delicious. I couldn't finish my salmon because there was so much. His turkey dish was great as was my butternut gnoccohi. We each got the dessert selection and shared (pear/cranberry pie and bread pudding). Service was great even though it was quite busy. Good wine selection and one of the best (if not the best) Manhattan I've ever had."

  • "it was first time to go to this restaurant. I love this restaurant because small, cozy and nice view. I would like to go there again. Food is also good. We had a great Christmas dinner ."

  • "The only thing I have to complain about my experience at Cusp was the hostess took forever to greet us and seat us. I had to come find her to let her know we'd arrived. I understood that she was the only one seating at the time, but it still took too long of a time to not even be coerced that she'd be right with us. The bartender, however, was very nice and quite handsome and took care of us in the meantime. Besides that, Tyler, our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. The wine was expensive but good as well. Me and my family were super happy to have chosen Cusp and the La Jolla Hotel for our different Christmas Eve experience. Thanks again!"

  • "My out-of-town guest and I went for a quick bite at 8:00 pm. The place was empty, which I have to attribute to the date, because the food was good (particularly the lamb burger and the almond cake) and it looks like it's set up to host a vibrant bar scene. Wednesdays they offer half-off any bottle of wine when you order from the menu, so we enjoyed a decent bottle of red for only $18. I'd go back, especially if I am guaranteed to have the whole place to myself."

  • "We had a great meal at Cusp. I put in a request for a nice view for our anniversary and they were happy to oblige. They even gave us champagne for toasting . The service was great and food very tasty. Thank!"

  • "Atop the Kimpton Hotel La Jolla, Cusp is a great place for a wonderful dining experience with unbeatable views of La Jolla, from La Jolla Cove on up towards Torrey Pines. The food was great and the service was spot on. Will definitely be back."
    Dined on 11/16/2013
  • "I wouldn't bother going here except for the view. The two highlights were the friendliness of the hostess and the accommodation of a special request for my dinner. The food was meh (my fish was off-puttingly smelly and salad way over-dressed on sorry looking greens) and our waiter was never around even though there were less than 4 tables filled. I'm sorry to say it's just another bad restaurant with a great view that keeps them in business in quality food starved San Diego."

  • "We stayed at the Hotel La Jolla, a Kimpton Hotel which was fabulous. Cusp is located on the 11th floor and Have an incredible view of the ocean and La Jolla. A bit pricey but the food and service were good. Mediterranean Cuisine."

  • "Unfortunately this was not a great experience. Our service couldn't have been better but our food had no flavor. One person ordered the crab ravioli and it was really fishy tasting. We were disappointed because the reviews were really good. Sadly we will not be returning."

  • "Cusp is by far a wonderful dining experience! Great service especially, exceptional dishes, fresh and thoughtfully prepared with top o the line ingredients, chef specials, extensive craft cocktail menu with build your own drinks, and reasonably priced! My favorite dining place! Views! Beautiful ambiance! And even though it has top of the line faire, it is a relaxing environment where diners can feel at home! Thank you!"

  • "The view from the restaurant is just the beginning! The premium cocktails and delectable appetizers set the stage for a wonderful meal (the flavor of the braised short ribs was contrasted nicely against the ricotta gnocchi). Just make sure you save room for dessert!"
