Diner Reviews
  • "Sometimes with a highly successful restaurant the staff will start to have an air about them and not be as helpful or act annoyed to serve you. Curate is never like that. Everyone is so welcoming, helpful and nice. The food is amazing each and every visit. If you have any dietary restrictions, they are so helpful. We had a party of 10 recently and everything was correct and wonderful. Will be back frequently."

  • "I live in Asheville, and am always excited to have friends visit from out of town, so I can take them to Cúrate. The food is always exceptional, and the service and knowledge of the staff makes it a wonderful dining experience. The wait staff always have wonderful suggestions, which allows one to taste much of the menu."

  • "We came in on Sunday night and it was fantastic!!! It was not my first time but my two other friends have never been and loved it just as much as myself!! You need to get the tomato bread with manchango and my other staple is those mushrooms they are amazing!! Anytime I come to Asheville I make sure to visit service is always spot on and the food only gets better!!"

  • "Tapas are one of favorite ways of eating, small plates coming out at different times. The lamb skewers were amazing and went very well with the spinach/raisins/pine nuts dish. Octopus was very tender. There was five of us, we ordered 10 dishes and was quite full at the end."

  • "The perfect taste of Spain! Food is delicious and can't get any better for those who know Tapas."

  • "We are locals to the Asheville area, and have learned over time that a reservation is usually required for an evening at Curate. Occasionally you can get a seat at the bar, but it's uncommon to walk in on a weekend evening and a table be available. So this time we planned ahead and reserved a table for our anniversary. Couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of the atmosphere, service, food & wine. We sat in the rear corner, which provided a quite place to talk & enjoy the meal. It was the perfect evening!"

  • "This website is not allowing me to hit the specific recommendations, but it is great for foodies, does not have outdoor seating, service is excellent, and it has a great vibe"

  • "I went to Curate for a late lunch. I ordered an Iberico pork charcuterie sampler platter (jamon iberico de bellota), local peppers stuffed with Spanish goat cheese, and a fried eggplant dish. Wow. The pork was all very rich and melted in your mouth. Best Iberico I've had. The peppers were perfectly done w/ very high quality goat cheese. The eggplant was like none I'd ever had. It was not soggy--it was light w/ a little crunch to it. The honey drizzled on the eggplant was delicious. The server was very helpful in navigating us through the menu. I give this restaurant very high marks."

  • "I've been here three times and each time I leave well satisfied with service and food. The only complaints I have this time are ... the spinach dish wasn't as good as the first time I had it and the sausages (with potato puree) were different (not as good as before)."

  • "Took my college aged kids - terrific culinary experience where we ordered off of the brunch menu! The drinks were fabulous and the entrees unique and delicious! A must while in Asheville"

  • "I don't normally do this, but I must make an exception.... Overall the best dining experience I've had in my 13 years in the area... everything was perfect in my book.... everything and everybody... thank you....."

  • "We are still raving about Curate. The Iberico ham was to die for. Every plate was a discovery with flavors so fresh and crisp. We ordered 9 tapas including a refreshing surprising dessert featuring honey. Last tapas was grilled chorizo with a olive oil potato puree. Divine. Chorizo sausages were so delightfully smoky and spicy. Other stars of the show included the albondiga meatballs and chicken croquettes. Anchovies served on a bed of sweet pickled onions, roasted red peppers and eggplants were refreshing and subtle. We also had the sauteed shrimps in a bay leaf and sauteed garlic broth we happily soaked up with the provided toasted bread. Finally the delicious paprika pulpo was so tender. Staff was attentive and very knowledgeable."

  • "This is one of the best restaurants in Asheville and the chef is a James Beard award winner. They feature a menu of small plates. There were two of us and we shared five small plates and a dessert. The calamari was to die for, so was the lamb (skewers). We also had a bruschetta with manchego cheese, asparagus, and spinach with raisins and apples. Dessert was a sort of creme brûlée - amazing! Be sure to book ahead - this is a popular restaurant!"

  • "As always, we had a great dining experience from the wine and cocktails to dessert. The staff is friendly, very helpful and efficient."

  • "The menu is diverse and has something to please everyone. It doubles as a place mat and as we ordered and ate we kept notes (I would consider us foodies). They are tapas which only means share, enjoy and order more. We did not have anything that we did not savor. The white sangria is wonderful. Our waiter, Eric was knowledgeable and attentive. One of the Chefs came out and we were able to ask him about some of the details regarding the dishes. All in all a wonderful experience!"

  • "A few friends recommended this spot for our trip to Asheville. The food was wonderful. The wine our waitress recommended was nice, but she seemed a little nervous, which gave us an odd vibe. Granted, the place was packed so she may just have been slammed. My only complaint was how loud the front of the restaurant was, especially where we were in the front. When we ventured to the back, the volume level was much lower. The food does all the talking here. Fried eggplant with honey, the tortilla, the charcuterie plates, and the tomato and tuna salad stood tall for us."

  • "Food was OK. I have a palate that is fairly broad in what i enjoy, yet the menu seemed to be a little on the limited side. Very few go-to's for the picky eater."

  • "One of the best, if not the best food house in Asheville. Cured ham to die for. Chorizo and pureed potato that makes me melt... The only criticism I have ever had with this restaurant is that its so hard to get a walk in table because its so popular! Keep up the good work guy's! Kind regards Graham"

  • "We continue to return here and it is always getting better, even though it was superb from DAY 1. Be prepared to share dishes so you will be able to try multiple dishes. We were there two days ago and it was the best yet. Service is stellar!!!!"

  • "We had never experienced the Tapas type food before but this restaurant came recommended by friends and got good reviews. The waiter was very informative which helped to get us started in our choices. Service was quick and accurate. All of the choices we made were absolutely delicious! There were four in our party and each choice was divided when it came to our table so each of us could try them. Couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience."

  • "could hardly hear my lunch companions. i was almost horse by the time we left the restaurant. i was happy to see the menu was geared to folks with food allergies and sensitivities. it made ordering a lot less stressful. thank you for that."

  • "Not so sure....the size of the ol the plates were fine just the ingredients did not seem to be of high quality....abig noisy scene with a common eating bar..more about the hustle and bustle in the kitchen with lotsa. pan banging...wish the food tasted as good as the effort .."

  • "The menu is extensive and we enjoyed a variety of selections but I did find the menu difficult to read as smaller type in darker dining room. Good thing we had reservations for as we left, an hour and half wait on a Tuesday night at 8pm! You can dine at the kitchen bar/counter which we did not have for seating and that looked interesting for our next visit to watch."

  • "My 6th visit and it just gets better and better!! Tried the white Sangria which was a delightful summer tipple. We also tried a Bloody Mary with the horseradish foam and spend the afternoon discussing how to make the foam at home! It's nice to be able to make a reservation and be seated promptly. The staff is very switched-on and helpful with dish explanations and suggestions."

  • "understanding it is a tapas restaurant I know the portions are small, but I think they are a bit overpriced for the portion. quality of food is good to excellent, but by the time you are full you've spent more than you would at dine dining experience. Lively and lots of fun."

  • "Our group of six arrived on time for our reservations and was seated promptly at a table in the back---loved that location as it was a little quieter than up front. We started with sangra for the table. It was delicious, a little less-sweet than some sangrias. The waiter offered us the possibility of bringing a variety of tapas dishes to our table rather than our ordering from the menu. He asked us about our likes and dislikes and then brought us a perfect variety of fresh, inventive, creative, and beautifully presented dishes. The pace that the food was brought was perfect, clean plates were offered throughout the evening, and water and wine glasses were kept full. The service was outstanding!"

  • "The chicken croquettes, they lacked flavor, needed some parsley inside or some herb to enhance. The Lamb was fabulous. The eggplant wonderful. Pretty good lunch. Recommend the place. :)"
    Dined on 8/7/2014
  • "I was there with a group of five so it gave us the opportunity to explore the menu. The chicken fritters were the least impressive, but all other dishes were very good. I would specifically recommend the three ham plate to compare them, the fried eggplant was great, the asparagus plates were wonderful, the lamb skewers with Morocan spices was the best of our choices, but don't leave without trying the squid which is cooked with pasta in its own ink - a real gem on the menu!"

  • "We`he been to Spain and we love the tapas restaurants there. Curate is the closest thing to authentic Spanish tapas that we`he found in these United States. They have an excellent Spanish wine by the glass list too. Everything we tried was good and the service was outstanding. It can get a bit pricey depending on what you order."

  • "Food is good, good service, and nicely decorated but very expensive considering the miniscule size of the portions. I paid almost $30 and left feeling hungry."

  • "The food was spot on. There were new items to try and some old favorites to revisit. Service was excellent, as usual."

  • "Everything was delicious. minus the albondigas which were bland. As good or better than Spain."

  • "We relied heavily on our waitress, Erin, for suggestions. With four different palates to please, she provided a true gourmand experience. And, don't miss the white sangria. All in all, a memory for four friends from Philadelphia, Colorado Springs, Charlotte and Atlanta, that couldn't have been better."

  • "We snagged reservations for 5:15 and although it didn't seem super busy I was glad we had them. Wish I had thought to ask for bar seating - I work in a restaurant too and half the fun is watching the kitchen work. The food was great, some were more favorites than others (octopus!) but all plates went back empty."
