Diner Reviews
  • "Everything we ordered was superb. Our waiter helped us with a few selections. The pork with the fresh rosemary and thyme was the best I have ever tasted. Would have ordered a second helping if it had been less expensive. Our waiter suggested we have the eggplant with drizzled honey as more of a dessert option and recommended the rosemary ice cream to accompany it. Wonderful. Can't wait for my next trip to Asheville"

  • "Curate delivers superb food and service again. I did miss sitting at the "bar" watching all the food prep, but I forgot to ask for a seats there. The menu provides exciting choices to "picky eaters" like us. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. We will be back soon!"

  • "We loved this restaurant, but reservations are a must. All the tastes were so delicious. We shared several of the tapas - the shrimp is the best, the spinach with raisins was delicious, and the pork was very good. Don't miss the lemon-thyme ice cream. I would go back here several times a week if I could."

  • "With El Bulli's closure before I had the opportunity to visit, I wanted to experience the cuisine of its chefs. Curate in Ashville, NC, affords that opportunity. From the moment you enter the restaurant you are confident you have made the right choice. The friendly staff make you feel right at home and as the service continues you are attended by knowledgeable and charming staff. The challenge begins with making the selections from the extensive menu of tapas choices, all of which are very enticing. With the assistance of the staff a selection of six to eight items makes for a diner's delight. Accompanied by a very nice wine list Curate provides a dining experience one will not forget."

  • "We had our 40th anniversary dinner at this restaurant and they again more than lived up to our expectations for quality of food, service, and ambiance. We had a great time, service was impeccable and our special dessert made it memorable. Thank you."

  • "Tapas are terrifying tommy people used to a plate all to themselves. Curate offers a unique variety of dishes and served them in a way that allows a slow, palate tantalizing experience. Get the pulpo and scallion omelet!"

  • "We were greeted at our table by Erin, our server who was very knowledgeble and patient while we made our selection from the extensive menu. She was attentive without hovering. The eggplant was wonderful, gin and tonic suggested by Erin even featured fresh juniper berries! Erin made sure our water glasses never reached half full, and was always checking to see if we needed anything. It could not have been a more delightful lunch in an oasis in the middle of s busy Tuesday."

  • "Best evening in Asheville! The ceviche sampler was out of this world. We were early for our table so opted to have our meal at the bar instead. Wonderful bartender, service, and food."

  • "This was our first visit to Curate, having gone there on a recommendation. We were not disappointed one bit. The wide variety of food on the menu was prepared to perfection, with an abundance of great flavors. The service was superb and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable of the menu items, especially since my wife needs to eat Gluten Free.....We all left fat and happy and will certainly recommend Curate to our friends and family who might find themselves in Asheville in the future......"

  • "The food and service here is spot-on every time! Try the cheese stuffed red peppers, asparagus, lamb, Spanish beer, sangria, everything!! I wish they had more space, but you'll need to book way in advance for a table, I booked a month out for a 6pm Sat. night table."

  • "My wife and I absolutely love Curate! We like to visit once a year, traveling 1 hour to get here from where we live. It's our lil' spot in Asheville, highly recommend."

  • "Visited Curate with two friends for lunch on a Saturday. We had made reservations, so there was no wait. The menu is extensive and amazing. We shared a number of small plates, all presented wonderfully. Both friends said they could have been in Madrid, the food was so authentic. Make reservations or you'll never get in!"

  • "Fantastic dinner and worth the trip to Asheville to try this place. Just as good, if not better than tapas we eat in Spain (and we visit frequently). Do not miss the bread with tomato and manchego, the ham sampler platter, shrimp in garlic...and oh, my, the octopus. Never in my life have I had such tender octopus. Wine list is very pricey and the place is very loud. We had attentive service and the food came out quickly. We will travel back to eat here again."

  • "This is our go-to restaurant when friends come in to town. Incredible menu, lots of different items, and we've never been disappointed with any choice we've made. The service is excellent, the knowledgeable wait staff is happy to explain the menu and beverages as well as "pace" the tapas for an excellent dining experience. We were lucky enough to be served by Natasha, she is amazing, a combination of friendly and super competent. Be sure to make a reservation during the tourist months, or you might be disappointed."

  • "Sometimes with a highly successful restaurant the staff will start to have an air about them and not be as helpful or act annoyed to serve you. Curate is never like that. Everyone is so welcoming, helpful and nice. The food is amazing each and every visit. If you have any dietary restrictions, they are so helpful. We had a party of 10 recently and everything was correct and wonderful. Will be back frequently."

  • "I live in Asheville, and am always excited to have friends visit from out of town, so I can take them to Cúrate. The food is always exceptional, and the service and knowledge of the staff makes it a wonderful dining experience. The wait staff always have wonderful suggestions, which allows one to taste much of the menu."

  • "We came in on Sunday night and it was fantastic!!! It was not my first time but my two other friends have never been and loved it just as much as myself!! You need to get the tomato bread with manchango and my other staple is those mushrooms they are amazing!! Anytime I come to Asheville I make sure to visit service is always spot on and the food only gets better!!"

  • "Tapas are one of favorite ways of eating, small plates coming out at different times. The lamb skewers were amazing and went very well with the spinach/raisins/pine nuts dish. Octopus was very tender. There was five of us, we ordered 10 dishes and was quite full at the end."

  • "The perfect taste of Spain! Food is delicious and can't get any better for those who know Tapas."

  • "We are locals to the Asheville area, and have learned over time that a reservation is usually required for an evening at Curate. Occasionally you can get a seat at the bar, but it's uncommon to walk in on a weekend evening and a table be available. So this time we planned ahead and reserved a table for our anniversary. Couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of the atmosphere, service, food & wine. We sat in the rear corner, which provided a quite place to talk & enjoy the meal. It was the perfect evening!"

  • "I went to Curate for a late lunch. I ordered an Iberico pork charcuterie sampler platter (jamon iberico de bellota), local peppers stuffed with Spanish goat cheese, and a fried eggplant dish. Wow. The pork was all very rich and melted in your mouth. Best Iberico I've had. The peppers were perfectly done w/ very high quality goat cheese. The eggplant was like none I'd ever had. It was not soggy--it was light w/ a little crunch to it. The honey drizzled on the eggplant was delicious. The server was very helpful in navigating us through the menu. I give this restaurant very high marks."

  • "I've been here three times and each time I leave well satisfied with service and food. The only complaints I have this time are ... the spinach dish wasn't as good as the first time I had it and the sausages (with potato puree) were different (not as good as before)."

  • "Took my college aged kids - terrific culinary experience where we ordered off of the brunch menu! The drinks were fabulous and the entrees unique and delicious! A must while in Asheville"

  • "I don't normally do this, but I must make an exception.... Overall the best dining experience I've had in my 13 years in the area... everything was perfect in my book.... everything and everybody... thank you....."

  • "We are still raving about Curate. The Iberico ham was to die for. Every plate was a discovery with flavors so fresh and crisp. We ordered 9 tapas including a refreshing surprising dessert featuring honey. Last tapas was grilled chorizo with a olive oil potato puree. Divine. Chorizo sausages were so delightfully smoky and spicy. Other stars of the show included the albondiga meatballs and chicken croquettes. Anchovies served on a bed of sweet pickled onions, roasted red peppers and eggplants were refreshing and subtle. We also had the sauteed shrimps in a bay leaf and sauteed garlic broth we happily soaked up with the provided toasted bread. Finally the delicious paprika pulpo was so tender. Staff was attentive and very knowledgeable."

  • "This is one of the best restaurants in Asheville and the chef is a James Beard award winner. They feature a menu of small plates. There were two of us and we shared five small plates and a dessert. The calamari was to die for, so was the lamb (skewers). We also had a bruschetta with manchego cheese, asparagus, and spinach with raisins and apples. Dessert was a sort of creme brûlée - amazing! Be sure to book ahead - this is a popular restaurant!"

  • "The menu is diverse and has something to please everyone. It doubles as a place mat and as we ordered and ate we kept notes (I would consider us foodies). They are tapas which only means share, enjoy and order more. We did not have anything that we did not savor. The white sangria is wonderful. Our waiter, Eric was knowledgeable and attentive. One of the Chefs came out and we were able to ask him about some of the details regarding the dishes. All in all a wonderful experience!"
