CuocoLove Cuoco! What isn't inLove Cuoco! What isn't in your checklist is the waitservice. They are wonderful, and this seems consistent across Tom Douglas restaurants--that the waitpeople are spirited and personable--helpful but not in your face. They give special attention that seems sincere and really add to the pleasure of the meal.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is how pasta should be served! This was my first dining experience at Cuoco, and it surely won't be my last. Our waitress and servers were extremely personable and easy to talk to...I almost wanted to ask them to join us for dinner ;) The ambience was wonderful as well...certainly appropriate for groups, but warm and intimate enough for a romantic dinner as well.
The food itself was wonderful. We ordered the linguine with clams, halibut with peas and morels, and the pea soup with mint. The linguine was among the best I have ever had...perfectly al dente. My favorite part of the dish was how minimally it was sauced. The pasta was certainly the star of the dish, which is how it should be.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, ambience,OK serviceHad a nice dinner with two children. We came early and were seated promptly. The wait was quite long for drinks and then ordering, but when the food came, the music happened. The standout dishes were the manilla clams with chorizo, the pastas were all good including children's pasta. The meatball side was really excellent and recommended. The tortellini's with parmesan sauce, oyster mushrooms and arugala was very rich, but tasty. The lamb pasta was very nicely put together and balanced. Overall we enjoyed our dinner. Go for the food, but the service still needs some work.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways amazingWe have been to Cuoco to partake of the "Sunday Supper" (a multi-course prix fixe kind of thing) and it has been amazing every time. This latest trip was the simplest one we've had yet (lasagne, salad, garlic bread, gelato) - simple but very refined. We loved it.
At first, we were seated by the door to the outdoor seating area (which I was generally fine with), but the waiter noticed I was positioning to buffer the breeze and got us re-seated in the moment. A nice touch.
We'll be back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and fantasticExcellent food and fantastic service - a perfect combo.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMtitleparking was easy, portions were perfect.
options on menu diverse5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceWe dined for the first time at Cuoco on Cinco de Mayo, so it was probably a bit more subdued than normal. With that said, what a great experience. Katrina our server was amazing. She was very informed on the menu, wine list and what was happening in town. We order several dishes to share family style, which was a great way to try several items. We need to return to try more of the menu. The power went out as we were getting close to leaving. The Staff dealt with the challenge in a very efficient and non-dramatic manner. Fortunately it was still light outside so really no impact to the dining experience.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was delicious onceEverything was delicious once again. Our sever, Courtney, remembered us from the last time we were in which was months ago. We were originally sat next to a group of four that were on the loud sound making it hard for my husband and I to have a conversation. Courtney noticed and had the host reseat us at a quieter table without either of us saying anything about being moved. I have nothing but great things to say about Cuoco. If you haven't been yet, go.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Tom Douglas winner!Took my daughter to Cuoco for her birthday. Service was excellent; ling cod finished perfectly and pasta dishes were made from scratch. Wine selection is good and cocktails first class. A very good Tom Douglas interpretation of an Italian corner restauratn.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my 4th visit. WeThis was my 4th visit. We live in Gig Harbor or would probably visit more often. Love your pasta dishes. Our waitress was excellent at service and had a great personality. We will definitely be back next time we are in Seattle.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPasta is a plusTommy D. takes on the Italians. The slant: handmade pasta. It could be a religion, had it not fallen out of favor with health conscious carbophobes! I've been twice. The first time, chefs were rolling out delicious handmade raviolis and tagliatelle. Restaurant week lunch was pretty good. Two great things stuck out in my mind: flavor packed bolognese with a rich, beefy flavor and sea salted chocolate mousse on the dessert menu. The focaccia for the grinder was a bit heavy handed with the oil.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great Seattle RestaurantAnother great Seattle Restaurant Week experience. We started upstairs at the Brave Horse Tavern while our reservation for 5. Good location, evening garage parking for $2 and lots of street parking after 6 when the microsoft and amazon crowds go home. Great food, excellent wine and amazing pasta...4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food. Our fourthDelicious food. Our fourth time at Cuoco.
Very good beer on tap (collaboration of Cuoco and a local brewer.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMChoose Cuoco! The food was great! Everyone in our dining party was really pleased with their choice of entree. The Spaghetti was delicious. Great assistance in pairing wines. A relaxed ambience, too. I can't wait to go back. Highly suggest experiencing Cuoco. After dinner we went upstairs to The Brave Horse Tavern for a completely different experience that has the same amazing Tom Douglas qualities. So call a cab and camp out at 310 Terry Ave. N. all evening! Enjoy a great meal at Cuoco, then finish at The Brave Horse Tavern. A Tom Douglas win-win!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat space and ambiance.Great space and ambiance. Service was superb. Fish (whole roasted branzino) at $35 came in on the undone side...4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time here; totally enjoyedFirst time here; totally enjoyed it. Clean, crisp flavors wrapped in really simple and rustic food. I had the rigatoni with duck confit; yum! My husband had the beef cheek ravioli. Both were rustic, rich, with deep flavors. Wine choices were great; regionally sorted, good selection, not overwhelming. Our server was really great; attentive but not hovering. She knew the wine list and made good suggestions. Great ambience. Will definitely be back.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBest lasagna in Seattle.Best lasagna in Seattle. Not too tomatoy, just the right bechamel and crispy noodles on top. Beef ravioli superb.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Just anotherExcellent food. Just another gem in Tom Dougluses shiny crown of restaurants in Seattle3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen there 2 times for lunch.Been there 2 times for lunch. Food great, nice atmosphere. Would go again.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGive your review a title (optional)This is my 2nd visit to Cuoco for dinner, the 1st was shortly after it opened. Cuoco is good, but by no means the best Italian restaurant in Seattle, nor among the top restaurants in the Tom Douglas line-up. I frequent Dahlia & Lola. We had the Salumi plate and meatballs to start. Both were good. Next we had the salad, also good, but nothing special. For mains we had the lasagna, the linguini nero, the pork shank, and the tagliatelli. This is where the meal started to shine. All were very good. For dessert we had the chocolate & coconut cream pie gelato, the tiramisu, and the panne cotta. All were good, but not great. Overall, we had a good meal and pleasant dining experience on a Sunday night.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service, great cuisineWe have been to most other Tom Douglas restaurants, so we gave a try to Cuoco. We arrived a bit earlier, but our table was already available. Our server was also the bartender, and he was outstanding. He made really good recommendations, and when I couldn't figure out what wine I wanted, he brought quite a few bottles to the table until I found a perfect match. We will definitely go back.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI wished I lived in the neighborhooI wished I lived in the neighborhood and could frequent more often. The "apps" and salads are wonderful. Wine list is exciting. I would go just for a bottle and some appetizers and be very happy. The staff was on top of their game !2/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
