  • "Sunday Brunch: Eggs Benedict (ordered without the ham) came with ham & I had to track down our very pleasant but busy waitress. I waited about 10 min for the return. The eggs were barely warm. The slice of tomato was fresh & tasty but also cool. I was hungry & did not want to create any further delays for our company so dug in! Eggs were done to perfection in terms of softness, BUT COOL! One of our party who also had the Eggs Benedict was very happy with her meal. Our BD friend had the French toast & she rated it 5/10 & was a bit put off by the blueberry concoction that had turned all the fruit blue! Service was pleasant but not attentive enough to pick up on our particulars. The bill showed no reflection of the lateness of my meal."

  • "Arrived on time and was seated immediately. Not a large menu for brunch but both our dishes were excellent. Nice atmosphere with restaurant being part of the Muttart Conservatory. Will definitely recommend to friends and return for Sunday brunch. Would recommend reservations."

  • "I met a friend at Muttart to ward off the winter blues with a visit to the gardens. While the tulips were on the fade, they did help raise our spirits. But the high point was lunch at Culina. Best BLT I have had - really delicious, although the accompanying potatoes were a bit bland. My friend had the marinated vegetable salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Tiny space, friendly servers, limited menu, but what they do, they do well."

  • "Had the special - called a Chicken Salad, which was grilled chicken pieces and an arugula salad with an especially flavourful dressing. My guest had the soup special that was some type of vegetable puree with lime and spices. She really enjoyed that also. Service was just as it should be, there when you needed them and not when you didn't. Love this spot. Easy to get to... free parking."

  • "If you are going to Muttart why not stop in and have a bite at the cafe. Food is very fresh, locally sourced and delicious. If you happen to be in the neighbourgood stop in. We went on a Saturday it was very busy and I recommend a reservation if you plan on eating in, arrived at 1pm Special was sold out, very loud, limited menu. Can also get take out."

  • "We booked Culina Muttart for Sunday brunch at 1:30 PM. When we got there, we were informed that they had run out of ALL the main dishes. If this was not bad enough, our server was absolutely not affected by that, even noting we were quite disappointed. We decided to stay in any case, even though they charge about $11 for a simple ham and cheese sandwich. We got a table and were forgotten by our waitress there for about 10 minutes unti she finally came to offer us coffee. As we waited, we overheard another waitress tell someone sitting on the table next to us that they had run out of the vanilla ice cream (can you believe it?). After waiting another 10 minutes (no coffee) we left the place. I don't think they ever noticed!"

  • "Avenue Magazine said this place was tops for brunch. Our waitress was forgetful and inattentive. An example is, coffee was refilled only once which was after the meal was over. The food was nothing spectacular and over priced. I won't be back here."

  • "My Husband and I went for lunch, we had an early reservation so we could get back to work. Although the restaurant wasn't full, and we ordered right away, it took 45 minutes to get our order. Needless to say we were late back to work. The food they serve is not complicated, it's great , but should have been served faster. One person in the kitchen is just not enough."

This time when we arrived we were told that we only had a reservation for 2, not 3, even though I had received an email confirmation that we had a reservation for 3. We managed to squeeze in a 3rd chair and eventually were moved to a larger table, but things seemed a bit disorganized. I hope this was just a temporary glitch in what has been great service."

  • "My friend and I had a nice, warm afternoon with lunch first at Culina followed by a stroll through the pyramids which was just the antidote to -23C. The mushroom soup was a wonderful start, followed by perogies which were a real treat for me and I enjoyed every one of them. My friend had the beef stew which she said was delicious and she nearly licked the bowl clean. For dessert we tried the cherry pie which was also a treat ; we were unable to finish it but it was not because of the flovour or texture. Our server was prompt and knowledgable and we did not feel rushed. Its nice to be able to enjoy good food in a relaxed environment that allows you to visit with your companions."

  • "We had a friend in from out of town and after seeing this Resto named "best brunch" by Avenue Magazine, we had to bring our friend to show her the best of Edmonton. Food selection was great, nice coffee selection, great service and comfortable atmosphere. Just one thing to note, they cannot split the bills (so you get to practice up on your math)."

  • "my gf and I recently visited the muttart for brunch, we liked the looks of the menu, the quick friendly service, and the relaxed atmosphere, however, we were seated near the window in an effectively empty restaurant and my gf pretty much kept her jacket on the whole time. also, while the menu selections looked good, we ended up ordering the same thing, the food was ok, the bread was extremely crunchy, perhaps thats the style of bread they provide. the food was brought to the table behind us, then even tho they didn't touch it, and it was realized by the couple sitting at the other table and us at the same time, the policy of the restaurant was to remake it, we ended up waiting quite a while to get our food."

  • "Culina Website did not say that Thursday evening is a 'fixed menu' . Only one choice (Braised Pork w/ Couscous). Terrible ambiance, given it's amazing location in the Muttart Conservatory (cold, mediocre decore). Plans were to have dinner and then take in the plant pavilions with my 8 yr old grandson. Since there was nothing on the menu for him to enjoy we left for another restaurant and scuttled our plans to tour the Muttart. Not much would entice me back to this non-descript restaurant."

  • "I was looking for a classy brunch spot for 6 people with a medium price tag. Due to the noise level, the uninteresting decor and the tepid temperature of the food (my poached eggs were cool), I cannot give a resounding thumbs up. The location is lovely and the greenhouses make a pleasant wander either before or after eating, but the restaurant itself seemed better suited for a cup of tea and a scone than a full brunch."

The only thing I found odd is they will put the syrup on the pancakes, or french toast before they bring it out. If you have a thing for soggy bread, ask for it on the side. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "I've been to Culina on 99th Street and loved the food and the service. My experience at Muttart was totally different. The food was totally tasteless and the waitress was run off her feet. The service experience was horrible. After all of this we paid over $50. I will never go back."

  • "Had the daily soup that was curried lentil.... Not thick as I expected, but flavourful nor overly spicy as the server indicated, but not very hot temperature-wise either. Muttart greens were good but a little disappointing in portion size. During clearing of an adjacent table, dishes complete with milk were smashed (it happens) and cleanup took a while and service suffered otherwise. Nor was all the glass picked up and the next guests included children (5-6 yrs.) that were not well managed by their caregiver and they were crawling on the floor. More dishes were broken in the food prep are with pieces flying onto the floor in the entry area. Must have just been a bad day. Otherwise a great spot for lunch."

  • "A nice place for lunch in a pleasant neighbourhood location. I like the fact that we were not sitting on top of other diners as is common in many restaurants. The only disappointing aspect of our lunch was that some of the items on the menu were not available and as luck would have it, those were the ones someone in our party wanted to order. But we certainly enjoyed what we did order and had a very relaxing time and chance to visit with each other."

  • "It is a nice restaurant, but it's located immediately upon entering the Muttart. Too bad it didn't have a location that took better advantage of the conservatory. We went for a late brunch (2:00 pm). They had run out of garlic potatoes and French toast. Too bad with such a small menu. However, the eggs benedict were some of the best that I ever had. If you go to the restaurant, visit the Muttart, or vice versa, but to go for just a quick brunch, there are better places."

  • "Went for lunch with a girlfriend. Culina had their Peroghy special with an amazing beet salsa and perfectly done caramelized onions. So delicious - if you haven't yet had the peroghy bowl from Culina, you need to! Also notable was their ginger bread pudding dessert. It is a large serving and I recommend sharing with at least two people."

  • "I had booked a table for six for all lof us to enjoy brunch on a cold, -30 Sunday. We were all very excited to try this new place, only to find out that they basically ran out of all the brunch items. No potatoes, no tomatoes, etc. Are you kidding me? I saved my stomach for brunch, only to find out that not only are they out of potatoes and tomatoes, their brunch special completely sold out. With that being said, I ordered the soup of the day with their winter slaw. Soup wasn't bad but could've used more crab (soup was crab bisque) and their winter slaw was more of an Asian slaw that was too overpowered by saltiness. The food the others at the table ordered seemed pretty good, but I was disappointed in their lack of selection."

  • "Went for brunch on the weekend. Made reservations as recommended by others and it was a good idea. Brunch menu was very limited. But food tasted great. Eggs Benedict were excellent ($14). Potatoes weren't bad but I've had better. Portions were right. I wasn't stuffed but just satisfied. Cappucino was a bit too strong for my taste. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back but I would if we were going to the Muttart anyways."

  • "A bit crowded because of Mad Hatter event, but overall, a pleasing time. My daughter's order was mixed up ( she got the wrong sandwich type), and the waiter was not only apologetic but took the item off the bill. I was not expecting this at all, for my daughter was very gracious in pointing out the error. Still, the waiter was most obliging. I left her a more generous tip to offset the restaurant's obvious loss. It was a bit chilly by the window, but a grater warmth was found in the food and servers and the quality of the food itself."
