  • "Gorgeous dining room, but we chose to dine al fresco. Extensive wine list, beautiful smoked salmon/beet/cream cheese appetizer. Tempted and tried both tasty soups, but save room for the perfectly prepared and generous portions of meats (we had the lamb chops and rib eye). Very attentive, professional, and warm service. Truly wonderful night out (and one of if not the best chefs in the Palm Springs environ)."

  • "We were surprised to find that, despite being a Thursday night when top servers should be staffed, the service was slow and disjointed from the kitchen even though there were only a handful of tables sat in the dining room. Wine pairings were missed and our dishes, when they did come, were served on plates too hot to touch. Why they would sit under heat lamps for so long when it was such a slow night. All this was made more disappointing based on the fact that it was a birthday dinner. One bright note, the sommelier was very nice and knowledgeable."

  • "quail stuffed with sweatbreads, an original invention of chef (cuistot) was wonderfully original and expertly done. the quenelles simply melted in your mouth. the braised artichokes had a delicious flavor, but they were too chewy and tough. the buttery sauce was good for dipping bread. veal chop was beyond delicious, probably the tastiest thing on the table. sommelier was excellent and really added a lot of value to our evening and the meal."

  • "This restaurant had been recommended to us and it did not disappoint. We went on a Sunday night and had the Pre-fix menu which was excellent! We looked at the a la carte menu and decided the prefixe was too good of a good deal to turn down. The restaurant is divided into 2 sections with a special on for the Pre-fix. We will go back on our next trip to the Palm Springs area."

  • "A party of three women for dinner. Walked us past number of empty tables to seat us in back next to a door propped open by a plant. When I complained about the air and bugs coming in, server suggested I move to other side of table. Ordered expensive salad that should have had pecans, goat cheese, tomatoes, pears, etc. Had to send salad back three times because they kept leaving off ingredients that was mentioned on menu. Steak was extremely small and tasteless. Owner came by table to asked how we were doing. When we mentioned problems above, he just said "well enjoy rest of your dinner" and walked away like had just told him everything was fine. Visit restaurant when its closed; you'll love the venue but not the service or menu."

  • "This was our first time dining at Cuistot. My husband and I went for my birthday lunch. We were only going to order lobster bisque and dessert, but very glad we ordered entrees. We have lived in Palm Desert full time for four years, and this was by far the best lunch we have had in the Coachella Valley. The service was excellent too. Can't wait to go back, which will happen very soon."

  • "Fantastic wine list and well priced. Presentation of the food was disappointing, my wife's appetizer, avocado fan with goat cheese was covered in chives and was not fanned at all, it looked like ____ covered in blue flies, you get the drift, my short rib ravioli was excellent though. My wife had duck and it wasn't her lucky night the sauce was more like soup and sorry French restaurants know that sauce has the consistency of syrup not old dish water which is what it looked like. My quail was covered in chives which I had explained to the waiter I was allergic to! Someone is not very attentive to details. The new quail was excellent. Very mixed results here."

Had to wait a very long time to place drink order, even longer for drinks to arrive, very long time before taking order. Busser was excellent. Chef visited our table which was an added touch. Food was excellent. Ambiance was perfect."

  • "Food was fabulous, service was very good. They went out of there way to make sure we got the table we wanted. I would have given the food 5 stars except the veal was a little tough. I'm not a big veal fan, and they insisted on a serving it medium, I never eat beef any more than medium rare! But again I do not order veal so that may be the norm. All in all great food, great preparation & great service. We will be back.."

  • "We came here once for happy hour and it was good. Came back a week later for dinner and it was horrible. We were seated for 20 minutes and no one greeted us or gave us menus. I had to ask the hostess finally if someone could wait on us. Service all night was poor. Dishes were not cleared, we had to pour our own wine, waiter rarely checked on us and when he did he raced by. The level of service here does not match the prices they are charging. Probably won't be back."

  • "Although the service and ambience were top notch, the food was really not good. The mushroom soup was the only thing we enjoyed, otherwise all appetizers, entrees and desserts were not prepared with care, not seasoned, not as described on the menu, and not worth the price charged. Their menu is outdated and overpriced. The pasta dish we ordered was literally swimming in grease, not at all edible. It was really dissapointing especially considering the chef walked around visiting the tables most of the evening. Perhaps he should spend more time in his kitchen because his staff is not making him look good. We will not return nor can we reccomend this restaurant unless they improve the food quality."

  • "I took my daughter-in-law to the Friday lunch/style show. She requires 100% gluten free food. The chef obliged from salad through entree to dessert. All were made to order and perfectly done. We even learned a new trick about eating the delicious floating island --- flip it over first. The style show topped off a perfect outing for her, as she found and purchased the ideal bauble right off of the model's neck! Two daughters come in future weeks, so I will be back for this very special desert treat. Thank you, Chef Bernard!"

  • "I was not told it would be a set menu for the night.(Valentine's Day) Three of the four main dishes came out just warm.When the dessert was served we were told that it was to be shared by two people per dessert. The manager told me it's been like this on Valentine's night for the last 10 years.I said I thought I should have been told about it.No answer.Not only did they tell how much I had to spend for dinner, what I could eat and share my dessert.No wonder they had empty tables."

  • "Bit of a disappointment for several reasons: 1) they didn't tell us they were having a fixed menu when we reserved. We were looking forward to ordering the veal chop and the grand manier souffle. The menu choices weren't that great - my husband's steak had been partially cooked hours earlier and then I believe they planned to cook it medium as he ordered it "medium" however it was rare on the inside and pretty well done on the outside. The other dishes all had an asian flair so my husband passed on those - the restaurant never used to have asian dishes. All in all - I don't recommend going there for Valentines day or any other holiday unless you ask them first what is in store for the menu. Also, the dessert was a shared dessert -very odd."

  • "A group of four of us were seated on the lovely patio, right in front of the fireplace. Beautiful. But apparently, our table was some black hole vortex between waiter sections. We did not have a menu, a greeting, a morel of bread, water, nothing for 30 minutes. We flagged down a bus boy who said he's find our waiter, but still not one. Finally, a waitress arrived who had the personality of cardboard. What a disappointment. The food was o k a y. Nothing to recommend. We had a great time because of conversation with good friends in spite of the service and lack luster food. If you're looking for a nice outdoor spot, its really pretty."

  • "Made this reservation so my daughter and her husband visiting from out of town could enjoy a wonderful Valentine's day dinner. The appetizers were meh and obviously made ahead of time as they arrived at the table in 10 seconds. The entrees of steak and sea bass were quite good. The dessert was sub par. The waiter was not good at all, ran by the table once but never asked if they wanted anything or needed anything. The best part of the service was the server assistant (not sure of her title). She was very sweet. Even though the reservation was early in the evening, they felt rushed and not at all welcome. I wish I would have never suggested Cuistot and will never recommend again."

  • "I went here for Valentines day and it definitely was not worth the price and just not good. Firstly they had a price fixed menu and didn't tell me when they reconfirmed twice. Secondly, the service was very weak, the staff was very tired from a long day while they were smiling they were running around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. Thirdly, the salad was soggy and not fresh looking. Fourth, my entree plate was so hot that burnt my wrist when I was eating. The entree food was fine but this place did not live up to their reputation and certainly not the price."
