Great for Lunch
Had a great lunch at Cucina
Rustica. Good as always."

I usually love the food there.
However, this time my lunch partner and I had the special where talapia was mixed with shrimp, olives and pasta in an olive sauce. It was aweful and we both agreed. We let half of the food go back. The buratta appetizer was great. Also, I did not like that we were seated in the very back of the restaurant although there were open tables in the open space in the front. The back of the room takes away from the open feel you get when you eat in the main dining room."

This is a nice place in DTLA. Food
is average. The wait staff will tell you their warm avacado in marinara is a house specialty. If it is, I certainly don't get it. The pasta carbonara was very good except for all of the oil from too much pancetta. I would have that dish again but with 1/3 of the pancetta and ask them to drain the pan before adding the pasta. House salad dressing is actually excellent and the warm house made bread is fantastic."

To say the least. Portions were
huge but not especially hot or tasty. The food could have been prepared in a micro. Very very ordinary."

Cucina Rustica is a nice,
affordable Italian restaurant within walking distance to Staples Center and LA Live. It's basic Italian fare done very well with good service and live entertainment. I will definitely go back."

Outstanding service, taster food,
and big time fun!!!"

Nice downtown LA restaurant for an
excellent quiet dinner with colleagues at the end of a busy work day. Great Service. Thanks open table for making it so easy to reserve."
Dined on 2/17/2014
All was going good but me and my
date felt like we were being rushed to leave. Our waitress incessantly asked if everything was okay. No sooner than we each expressed that feeling, she came back to tell us we had a one hour limit to the table we had reserved. But since it was Valentine's Day they would give us an extra half an hour."

Enjoyed the live music. It was
never too loud, but selection of music made for fun listening."

My family enjoyed this restaurant
for a number of reasons. We always love to have a booth for privacy and not all restaurants have them. At Cucina Rustica there are only a few but they are very comfortable. The menu is full of numerous pasta dishes. I had the Margarita Pizza - it was fabulous. My husband and son had spaghetti and meat balls and pasta bolaganase (sp). I love the Laurier chardonnay with it's hint of vanilla. On Friday night there was entertainment - guitar player and piano. a little noisy but nice to have something different. On MLK day at 6pm we were the only ones in the restaurant! Also, a think there is a bar scene on the lower floor."

We've come here several times
prior to attending concerts at Disney Hall, and have always enjoyed ourselves. Service and food are excellent, prices are right, and at least in the evenings, it's not crowded. So a nice quiet dinner, which is always a welcome treat!"

We had a delicious dinner here in
downtown LA. They do have valet parking on figeroua, because otherwise forget parking. Good wine list. We had Classic Italian dinners a Marsala and bolognese both excellent pasts cooked perfectly."
Dined on 1/8/2014
Went in on a Tuesday at 6:30 as we
were going to a show at 8...left at 7:30pm and honestly we were one of 3 other tables in this large space. Was hoping we had found a new Italian restaurant gem downtown...reviews on yelp were skewed both ways...needless to say...we were disappointed. Great shell of a space...wait staff had a great attitude..hostess was accommodating Food was literally what one would expect of an olive garden or an italian restaurant in a shopping mall...bleh..bleh..bleh Note to chef...never ever ever put cheddar on a parmesan of any kind..ever..you may need to do some research of your own with good Italian food so that you can tell the difference with what you are doing there."

I took my husband and three kids
Rustica for his birthday dinner before going to the Kings game. The kids ordered from the regular menu (no need for kids menu), they loved the pizzas and pasta, my husband enjoyed his Risotto, and I really like my seabass. It's a convenience and delicious restaurant before going to games at the STAPLES Center."

We have gone here for bday
celebrations on a number of ocassions. The food, seating, atmosphere is wonderful for an intimate group. We can actually hear each other speak. The food is amazing. Everyone enjoyed their dish and the location is a perfect distance from our office."
Dined on 11/22/2013
We went for a small family dinner.
The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. The valet (not owned by the restaurant) was a joke. Nobody at the stand. Left my car at the curb with the keys on the valet stand. The service was weak. Our waitress tried to act gourmet, but was not natural. The busboys brought the food and would call out " who had the gnocci? who had the filet?" We had a nice night as it was relatively quiet and we could talk. Again, the food wasn't bad, but the overall experience was marginal."

I was there for Dinner and the
food was great. Dessert was just as good. I will definitely come here again."

We recently attended a USC
football game and were looking for an after game dinner spot. We made reservations at cucina rustica. We arrived earlier than our reservation time, we were greated warmly and seated immediately. The service wast fast and efficient, the food was great and the desserts were absolutely amazing. We will definitely be back.................................................... Fight On"

We ate here last week after
reading the reviews and looking for a place within walking distance to the Sheraton. I walked by earlier in the day around lunch time and the place was packed. But, we dined on a rainy Monday night 10/28 and it was pretty empty upstairs. The fresh hot bread and oils to start were great. The waiter (Nabeth) helped me select a nice bottle of red wine that was not too expensive and super. We also took his recommendation for an app and glad we did. It was the avocado dish, which was unique and really good. I had the lasagna and my husband a seafood linguine I think. Overall, we enjoyed the dinning experience and it was nice to see a place with real candles on the tables for dinner."

We arrived early - 5:15 p.m. - so
we could enjoy a relaxing dinner prior to the theater. Our waitress was warm, friendly and willing to share her thoughts about the wine list. There were three of us and all ordered a different entrée so we could "taste-test" the offerings. No one was disappointed. Our two starters arrived promptly along with bread for dipping. The wine was excellent as was the service. The only exception was the busser wanting to clear the starters before we were ready. I know he was being efficient, but we wanted relaxing and not rushing. That was easily taken care of when we thanked him and told him we were content to graze. Definitely plan on repeat visits."

Thank you Cucina Rustica for never
disappointing! :) Definately one of my favorite places to eat at."
Dined on 10/16/2013
Pasta was way undercooked,
calamari was dry though the sauce was decent. I'm still not sure about the avocado appetizer. It's a sliced avocado with marinara sauce topped with cheese, searved warm."
Dined on 10/3/2013
Meatballs too dense, too highly
peppered; salad ok, chicken cooked dry; house wine bitter; avocado-cheese appetizer gooey, stringy, tasteless; gluten-free penne pasta overcooked."
Dined on 9/29/2013
Never disappointed with the
service, food and experience at Cucina Rustica."
Dined on 9/13/2013
Needed an Italian downtown, not
too pricey. This seems to be more a biz lunch spot but, food at dinner was well prepared, service was cheery. Room a bit empty at night."
Dined on 8/30/2013
Consistently good food and very
friendly staff who seem to enjoy working there"
Dined on 8/27/2013
Food and service were excellent.
Huge bar downstairs with happy hour."
Dined on 8/22/2013
I went to this place with my
fiance & closed friends for dinner. Staffs were nice & friendly and food quality/price were good & reasonable."
Dined on 8/21/2013
The Hostess was very friendly and
helpful (I left my phone on the seat and she retrieved it for me!). Server was attentive but not intrusive. Gave great menu selection opinions. And food was great!"
Dined on 8/9/2013
Food is fair and overpriced. Bread
was hard. Servers are not very experienced in handling a full room. Our waiter never visited us once after taking our order. We had to catch him to get our check."
Dined on 7/17/2013
We dined at Cucina Rustica on a
Saturday evening. The restaurant was more crowded than usual due to an overflow of convention visitors. Service was a little slower & less attentive than usual due to the large number of patrons but the service was reasonable. I had the filet mignon which was cooked a little rarer than I preferred but it was tasty with the mushroom blu cheese sauce. My friend had the sea bass which very tasty"
Dined on 6/23/2013
Made reservations and asked to
have a window seat. As soon as my gf and I got there we were seated in a booth by what looked like a busboy. The place was empty except for 2 or 3 other couples. My wine was delivered quickly. The manager came out and asked if I wanted the window seat. He clearly saw my reservation and that I used opentable, needless to say he was very very nice to us. We changed seats and enjoyed a lovely dinner. Service was good food was delicious and good portions."
Dined on 6/8/2013
We had one gluten-free and one
vegetarian in our group and there was plenty of choice for all. We especially loved the baked avocado appetizer."
Dined on 6/7/2013
Great fare, fresh ingredients and
seasoned food perfectly. Love the view of the big windows."
Dined on 6/6/2013
I read on a Yelp review someone
compared the food to Olive Garden, which for what appears to be an upscale client or special occasion lunch spot was not promising. The restaurant has the right ambience, attentive servers, appropriately priced menu. I do admit I have been unimpressed so far with the dishes I tried - taste, pasta texture, and lack of notable or memorable seasonings- at the last three times I visited. I can understand the comparison now. There are high points on some menu items so it remains a go-to place for special occasion lunches."
Dined on 6/4/2013
The noise level at the restaurant
was very loud. I had a business meeting and it was very difficult to hear each other. A VERY LOUD party - I think a retirement party for someone. I'm glad that they were having a good time, but it was difficult for others at the restaurant."
Dined on 6/3/2013
The food was very good and not
expensive which was nice, but still felt like an upscale elegant restaurant."
Dined on 5/18/2013
Picked this restaurant based on a
rating from "trip-adviser" and it's close proximity to our hotel in downtown Los Angeles. What a find. The ambience and staff were both warm and welcoming, the service was attentive, but no "hovering" around the table. The menu was just what we were looking for with great selection and reasonable pricing. The servings were ample, verging on generous and everything was delicious. Our table enjoyed a sea-bass over angelhair, a pesto pasta and veal parm. Started with bruchetta and tri-coloure salad and accompanied everything with a nice Chianti that we hope to be able to find retail when we get home. All in all, it was counted as a raving succcess on every level."
Dined on 4/26/2013
I had an excellent anniversary
dinner with my gf. Every expectation was met. I will definitely come here again. Thank you, to our waiter Kousha and general manager on Saturday, April 27th 2013."
