Diner Reviews
  • "We had dinner at CUCINA enoteca and the food was outstanding starting with the stuffed squash blossoms and grilled octupus. The flavors of each were exquisite and the texture of the ricotta combined well with the flavor from the cured lemons. The main dish of baked arctic char over sauteed greens and cannelini beans was heavenly. The fish was cooked perfectly and the limoncello glaze was wonderful. The other dish was linguini with clams that had a wonderful broth with a little heat added over linguini that was cooked to perfect al dente. As the Governator would say "I'll be beck'""

  • "Being in the middle of an always-busy outdoor mall, and difficult to get into without a reservation, this is a plan-ahead sort of place. But every time I actually make the effort, I'm so glad I did. Cucina Enoteca has food, wine and ambiance down pat. Being a wine retailer allows them to sell you a bottle, open it, and bag up whatever's still in there at the end of the meal. No corkage, no waste. And the food continues to shine: tasty, reliable, varied enough to please even the pickiest, and a quirky menu to peruse as soon as you sit down. I've sat indoors and out, at the bar and at tables. It's a feel-good experience every time. Highly recommend."

  • "This is my fourth visit and I'm hooked. I just love everything I've tried from the brick oven cooked fish to the braised beef hamburger. Not your typical Italian food. The polenta boards are a must try. Best polenta I've ever had - hands down! My daughter highly recommends the pork chop. The menu is seasonal, so what you had last time might not be there on your next visit. But that's what I love about this place. They are always cooking up something yummy! A nice gem among the typical chain restaurants at the Irvine Spectrum. I love the unique decor. Down to the porcelain painted door knobs on the bathroom stalls and the vintage Italian movie posters in the hall. Just an overall great experience each time."

  • "I admit that I always order the same things when I come here, but that's because they are so good. Although I don't ordinarily like gorgonzola, the gorgonzola and pear spread is wonderful. I also love the eggplant and goat cheese pizza -- and the crust is great -- and the wheatberry salad. Each of these dishes is perfectly prepared and I'm very happy when I lunch at Cucina Enoteca."

  • "Lots of choices at the Spectrum, but the unique menu and ambience here makes it the best of all the choices. Very impressed with the children's menu - roasted chicken and fresh vegetables instead of breaded, fried strips and fries!"

  • "I went to Cucina Enoteca last Tuesday night for dinner with girlfriends. We had a reservation, but had to wait about 10-15 mins before being seated. But it didn't bother me because the place is really cute. I got a chance to look over all the wine bottles they have for sale. The food is great. We Had the Stuffed Squash Blossoms, the Spice pineapple and panchetta pizza, Truffle fries, Mac & Cheese, and the Brussel sprout pizza. Not a fan of the brussle spout and spec pizza. It was way to salty. But everything else was delicious. Our server was great, super friendly, and he didn't rush us. The Wine! We took advantage of the wine flight night. It was fun trying new varietals. All in All, Great night night at a great Restaurant."

  • "We love Cucina Enoteca. The food is always interesting and well prepared. The atmosphere is fun and vibrant. The only criticism that I can offer is the volume of noise inside of the restaurant. It's tough to hear each other."

  • "Our group of 4 showed up at around six. The restaurant was busy but not packed. There were still a decent amount of empty chairs. Our server was very helpful and receptive to any questions we had about their menu which was a little confusing. There were some terms and ingredients that we weren't familiar with but he explained them very well. The food was also spectacular. Their squash blossom appetizers and their pastas are absolutely fantastic. The only issue that we had was that the whole meal took over 2 hours. Our waiter was very kind and checked up on us often but the kitchen was horrendously slow. we must have waited near an hour for our entrees to come out and then an additional 30 minutes for our desserts. 4/5 overall."

  • "The food was absolutely amazing. My boss and I meet for lunch once a quarter and she and I always attempt to find a new place to eat. We will definitely be returning to this place, the wine list is great, the atmosphere is quaint and the food quality and taste just blew me away. My compliments to the amazing chef!"

  • "This is among my favorite places to dine and had not been in several months, thus I was excited. The service is always very very good from the host, to the bar, to the wait staff. I was however really disappointed with my entree. I do not recall the fish dishes being "skimpy" in portion and "sauced". The plate was not balanced. I wondered if the kitchen was in a rush or low on veggies and under served?"

  • "my husband and I had a wonderful experience. Food was incredible, very innovative. The service was amazing. We had Karina as our waitress, very polite, knowledgeable of the menu ( she gracefully described the dishes in the menu). She was constantly checking on us and pouring water when the glass was half full. Great recommendations on cocktails and wine. We had a lovely experience. We love Cucina Enoteca"

  • "Everything was very delicious from the bread, cocktails, soup/salad and entrees. The only problem was we ate so much of the bread that we didn't save room for dessert. We'll definitely return."

  • "Have you ever happily surprised yourself with something? That was Cucina Enoteca ... a wildly pleasant surprise. We visited Cucina Enoteca for the first time and were floored by the wonderful food, ambiance, and wine. Their wine curator, Ed, helped us pick a fantastic red that perfectly suited our meal. Our waiter was also excellent, he was there before you needed him and was minimally invasive, allowing us to talk without interruption."

  • "Beet salad with honey and yogurt... Fantastic. The short rib parpadelle was amazing! And theDonut Holes with Nutella/Banana filling we're perfect for dessert! Definately going here again. Our server was awesome. The only reason for 3 stars was that she knew we were attending a concert and therefore watching the time, but was a bit slow at getting our bill to us. However, she was a delight and otherwise gave us great service. "

  • "I loved the ambiance to this place. It was very modern and unique and a good place to take your date or a group of friends. The service was good and the staff were very friendly. The food was great too. I'd say one of the best mac'n'cheese I've ever had. This place was a pleasant surprise and I'd definitely come back!"

  • "We have been to the restaurant many times since its opening. The food served is not consistent, at times it's better than others and I don't know what's the contributing factor to that. We've had brunch at Father's Day once before and were very pleased, so we made reservation for Mother's Day and ordered from the brunch menu. What a disappointment that was!!!! Three of us ordered the breakfast pizza breakfast pizza with smoked bacon and creme fraiche and potato. The pizza bread was over cooked to the point that had black spots on the edges, couldn't taste the creme fraiche, therefore it was very dry. The bacon was scarce and over cooked to the point where you could not taste it. "

  • "It was a ladies night out with my sisters and sister in laws. Compliments to the chef (Joe)! Not only the food was great, it was so nice of him to come out and greet us, and have picture taken with us. Our server was so great in recommending the dishes. Earlier on at the bar we didn't quite know what to order for drinks and wanted something new, the bar tender a cute Asian girl name Cindy came up with a concoction, it was so good we ordered seconds. Hopefully they'll add it to the bar list for next time."

  • "We took a coworker to lunch at CUCINA Enoteca for her birthday. The atmosphere was very pleasant and light. We were greeted immediately - even had the door opened for us as we arrived. We had made reservations but ended up bringing a couple extra people and they accommodated us without any problems. Our server Gil was fabulous. Very knowledgeable of the menu and even suggested some of his favorite things. He was on top of things and we never had to flag him down to get his attention. Food was excellent. We started with 2 of the cheese and toast appetizers - they were delicious. We ordered pizzas for lunch. Very tasty and was more than enough food - a few people even shared and that worked out great. All-in-all a great experience."

  • "The food is outstanding and menu is creative. Quality of food is fabulous. Only issue was that we made a reservation and asked for a table inside. The host said nothing was available inside though I could see at least 3 tables that were set and empty. He said "we could wait a while" for an inside table or "take the table outside and the heaters are on". His attitude was very "take it or leave it." The outside are is great at this restaurant but it was a little cold and the heaters were not on. We asked for it to be turned on, but then another table near us asked for it to be turned off. So, a little chilly during our dining. Going for the food is highly recommended even if the service was lacking."
