  • "First of, parking is horrible. My wife ordered the "house specialty" martini at the bar while waiting, and was disappointed. It turned out to be a poorly made Manhattan in a martini glass. The wine-by-the-glass selection was poor. I had a glass of the Tezza Campo Majoli for $10 - a bottle of the same retails for $13.99. , it took 15 minutes for it to show up at our table. Our server apologized several times, stating the bartender was "backed up." My wife ordered the San Marzanno Tomato pizza. When it was served, it tasted like a thick layer of Contadina Tomato Paste had been slathered on a thin crust. My North Carolina Black Grouper was passable, but the vegetables were just so-so."

The menu is different each time but always includes wonderful surprises that never disappoint. The cocktails are well made , the wait staff well informed and acquainted with each menu item enabling them to guide you in your choices. The friendly welcome the wait staff extends to us makes us feel welcome and at home. We are always amazed to witness the calm and confident execution those in the open kitchen exhibit.   • "We went to Cucina 24 with our two, thankfully adventurous, kids and had one of our best meals out. Food was just wonderful and our server was helpful and knowledgable. My youngest (11) tried quail for the first time and left nothin on the plate but the bones! My 14 year old tried the gnocchi and ate everything on her plate for the first time in ages. If we lived locally, would be back in a heartbeat."

  • "My wife and I recently relocated from Manhattan where we had the opportunity to dine at some of the worlds best restaurants. We often do the tasting menu to allow the chef to 'do his thing'. We did the same at Cucina, also pairing a wine flight. Every course was prepared well and presented wonderfully. A few highlights were the fluke and cucumber salad, papadell pasta with lamb ragout and lightly fried bass collar. The tasting ($65 pp) and wine pairing ($25 pp) made for a nice evening celebrating my wife's birthday. Desert was nice but not memorable. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Claude (mixologist) - very knowledgable. . If you visit, don't settle for the same old beer, wine - let him show you what a classic cocktail should be."

  • "We were a little off-put by the menu and felt we needed a bit of a translator, but luckily our server was very helpful in deciphering and we were delighted with each dish. We started with the prosciutto, ricotta and fig jam to share and the balance of salty, sweet and creamy was amazing. My favorite by far. We also ordered the fresh baked foccacia with olive oil and although simple it was also fantastic. For dinner we had tagliatelle with pork rago and the ricotta gnocchi with carrot top pesto. The first was rich, flavorful and hearty - the latter light but also flavorful with wonderful texture and delicate vegetables. For dessert we had the chocolate tasting plate and it was out of this world. Our favorite was the milk chocolate ganache."

  • "Another remarkable dining experience for a party of six. Cucina 24 can go up against any fine dining establishment in the country and hold its own! The pork chop is incredible, the seabass was delicious and desserts outstanding (small portions for desserts). Servers are attentive while being non-intrusive, staff are friendly and helpful and the modern decor is factory/loft inspired, comfortable and conducive to an enjoyable evening. The Italian wine selection is carefully chosen with some remarkable wines from a Brunello to Chianti (with several Sangiovese selections). This is not a typical Italian restaurant but rather a more contemporary version of Italian. A local favorite to which we regularly return."

  • "Asheville's dining scene is so vibrant, sometimes it's easy to get greedy with expectations for a perfect meal every time you dine out. Cucina 24 did not disappoint. This feels like a special occasion restaurant, yet our bill barely hit $100 for two with cocktails, appetizers, wine, dinner and dessert. All of the food was delicious and executed creatively-- from cocktails and local roasted beets--to hanger steak, pastas and dessert. This is a restaurant I would highly recommend."

  • "We decided on the tasting menu which consisted of 7 courses. These courses were not only incredibly good but prepared with great imagination. Even harder to believe the cost was only $65 per person. The wine list is purely Italian with offerings ranging from Piemonte, Tuscany and Amarones from the Veneto. The price list is also very reasonable...no triple plus mark ups. Service was personal with great care in explaining every dish. Our server even brought us complimentary glasses of a Barolo Chinato that was just a marvelous pairing with our chocolate based dessert. I have traveled Italy extensively and have dined in some of the best like La Pergola in Rome. Cucina now joins my list of great dining experiences."

  • "We were very much in need of a great night out and we had one at Cucina. The restaurant was very comfortable and relaxing. My husband had sea bass and I had flank steak; both were well prepared and came with excellent vegetable accompaniments. We were celebrating my husband's birthday so he was treated to a dessert on the house. It was a busy Friday night, but we never felt rushed and left knowing we would return soon."

The service was very attentive, the menu was creative with plenty of options for carnivores and herbivores alike, and the presentation was beautiful. (Try the scallop carpaccio!) Also, we would consider going spontaneously some night and sitting at the bar for pizza but I think they need to do something to make that area more pleasant. The kitchen lights, hand washing station and equipment detract. The atmosphere overall is a little bland, while the food is adventuresome and very good."

  • "We had a very good experience at Cucina. We had previously only been there for drinks and light appetizers. Our meal was terrific. We both had the pork chop as suggested by our waiter. He told us that it would be the best pork chop we had ever tasted. He was 100% correct. The meal was rounded out with collard greens (which were cooked and spiced to perfection); also polenta, which I don't like but my husband said was very good. Dessert was awesome. My only complaint is that the bar area was too dark, which made it difficult to see the menu."

I had mountain trout with root vegetables and potatoes and my husband had a wonderfully prepared rabbit. Although the menu was a little on the pricey side, it was a special occasion so we splurged. I would definitely eat here again!"

  • "Let me first say that I have never felt compelled to write a review of anything, ever. Ths was a special experience. Wife and I went for a rare night out. We're local, and have heard of Cucina 24 for years, but had never had the chance to go. Without getting too foodie-wordy, everything was just plain great. Server was attentive, friendly, super knowledgeable, and very helpful with the varied/exciting menu and extensive (predominantly Italian) wine list. We chose the Brunello di Montalcino, wife had citrus salad and pork chop, I brussel sprouts with bacon/vinegar and the pizza with cabbage. All remarkable. Very impressed. Definitely new top spot for babysitter evenings. Would love to go back with friends to investigate the menu further."

  • "Cucina 24 is one of our favorite Asheville restaurants for a fine dining experience. The food is creatively prepared and delicious. The wait staff is friendly, efficient and understands the importance of customer-centered timing of food delivery, The selections from appetizers through wine and cocktails, then dessert, are varied and well-proportioned. The restaurant size is just right - not too big, not too small - and the cozy bar area is tucked around the corner from the dining room, only to be seen upon entering/exiting. Another plus: Cucina 24 is right downtown in Asheville, where street parking can be difficult to find, but the restaurant is conveniently located steps away from a couple of parking garages."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for a nice romantic meal and was looking forward to it from all the great reviews. The location was great and it seemed like a solid choice. However, we both left feeling disappointed that we didn't go somewhere else. When you are spending $80-$100 on dinner for 2 you do expect high quality and a decent quantity. I must say the food tasted good enough but the portions were lacking. I could tell we were in trouble when a $16 cheese plate came out with a few small crackers and tiny pieces of bread. We quickly ran out of things to spread the cheese on. This appetizer situation was a great foreshadowing of the main course. My girlfriend ordered scallops for her main course for about $25 and they brought 3!"

  • "We went for Valentines Day. Started with a Bali Bali drink for two from the bar. Very good. For dinner, I had the scallops and brussel sprouts; wife had the pork chop and polenta. Food was good. I thought the price point was good for my meal. Wife thought hers was a little over priced. Dining space is open, but there are good seating locations for a more intimate meal. Unfortunately we didn't know this. We were seated right in front of the kitchen counter. For a casual night, it might be nice to see the food prep and bustling pickup, but not for Valentines Day. All in all, a good time."

  • "Our favorite "go-to" downtown restaurant--always dependably innovative and delicious cuisine served graciously in a cozy setting. Tonight we had the Bronzino which was outstanding and the Amberjack. The latter had a slightly "stronger" fish flavor but was good. The olive appetizer is always delicious and just the right beginning to a meal. Although we did not have it tonight the pork chop is the best ever! Highly recommend. Service was attentive and helpful. Some tables are close together--otherwise, we like a view of the cooking station with its open fire pizza oven. Recommend."
