Diner Reviews
  • "The tasting menu is our favorite. Not only do you get the chef's best, but it's also a great value."

  • "Excellent pasta - everyone loved their dishes, but man are the portions small (or "European sized" as described to us by the waiter). My in-laws split their meal and their plates we're embarrassingly bereft of actual food; maybe three actual pieces of pasta to go with their two shrimps each on their pappardelle. Also, having to pay $3 for table bread is a little annoying, although to be fair they do provide a few baked breadsticks pro-bono. All that said, the food was delicious and we probably are better off the the small portions, but it would be nice if it came with small prices, too. Such is life!"

  • "Highly recommend this restaurant. Excellent food and service, no complaints whatsoever."

  • "We went here with our blended families and sally enjoyed the food. The duck was wonderful! My only complaint would be having to wait and hour to get our food."

  • "We were early for our 7PM reservation so we got a wonderful corner booth and settled into the comfortable cushions . Our server , Steve, was excellent . We ordered a bottle of reasonably priced Montepulciano and it was delicious . We shared a summer salad and husband ordered the pasta with bolognese sauce. This was not on the menu but had been featured on the website and is my husband's favorite and Steve assured us that the chef had made some that day. Very delicious . I had pappardele with a fresh tomato sauce. Very good. We would go back to Cucina 24."

  • "We went to dinner and decided to enjoy the tasting menu. We tried everything from oysters to octopus, duck, salmon, and it was all delicious. The only thing that was a bit risky for them to put on this tasting was a hot pepper dish. Service was friendly and efficient and the room was beautiful. We had a great evening with friends from out of town. I highly recommend eating here!"

  • "My husband and I had been to Cucina 24 in January and had two great meals. This week, after many rave reviews, we took a group of six, only to be embarrassed. The oyster appetizer can only be described as a joke, since they were the size of my "pinkie" and should have never been on the menu. The wild mushroom pasta dish had a total of three mushrooms and lots of corn on a pile of rather dry pasta. No one in the group had an outstanding dish. I would not recommend again."

  • "my husband loves the restaurant but was concerned with the different, small menu. However the choices were excellent. He had the hanger steak and I had the duck. The hanger steak was tasty and tender. the sides were great. My duck wasn't tender but still was excellent and tasty. I often choose because of the sides (okra and corn). Then came the dessert and liquors. There was only one conyac but the waiter suggested the good bourbans and different bitters. My husband ordered bourban with the dandelion bitter. It knocked his socks off. We had the pizelles and ice cream. It was great."

  • "I was looking for a nice dinner for our 15th anniversary close to our hotel in downtown Asheville, and was recommended Cucina 24 by the concierge. Our table for two was in back room with several others, close but not exactly intimate. We got a few great oysters with minced scallion, an excellent salmon/melon starter, an outstanding barata with cashews and mildly curried sauteed carrots (best of evening), squash blossoms fried with crab centers (great) and a very well prepared nc drum split between the two of us. Our service was phenomenal, a perfect level of attentiveness with a dash of originality and humor. We would not hesitate to go back."

  • "The food here is fantastic! Service was impeccable! Our server, Claude, was very knowledgable about all the dishes, friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend this if you want a nice night out in Asheville."

  • "Great food, nice ambience, friendly and professional waitstaff. Interesting menu with out-of-the-ordinary selections. Portions may be viewed as small to some--otherwise as fine a choice for fine dining (or pizza) as can be found in Asheville. Chicken liver crostini appetizer followed by NC Drum and wild salmon were excellent. Summer squash complemented the fish nicely."

  • "I went in with a group of 7 and had the chef's tasting menu. It was great and all in our party had a wonderful time. I can't wait to make it back again."

  • "Before mentioning the food, the serving staff must be complimented. These folks work as a team and they aren't intrusive. In a city known for wonderful food, but less than stellar service, this group really stands apart. Good recruitment, training and leadership is apparent. Now to the food. We started with a couple of small plates and then shared an entree and a salad. Small plates (burrata, stuffed squash blossoms) were accompanied by wonderful fresh vegetables. While the entree (gnocchi) was not much "larger" than the small plates, it delivered a savory punch. My past salad experiences elsewhere is that the greens are often over-dressed and past their prime. Not so at Cucina - fresh greens, lightly dressed. Simply outstanding!"

  • "Overall, a good experience, but portion sizes were quite small for the price. A lot of buck for the bang. I don't mind paying top dollar for fine dining, but for the price, there are lots of other restaurants in Asheville that can deliver as good or better of an experience."

  • "My family and I went here for dinner on a quiet Saturday night. We had the burrata and foccacia to share. They were great! We all had the spaghetti which was good. Portions looked a little small to the guys, but in the end it really was enough and it left some room for dessert as well. Desserts were fabulous, I had the strawberry fennel panna cotta and it was wonderful. Wait staff was very attentive, no long waits, very friendly and courteous. They were out of the wine we had wanted to order but the replacement was excellent. Overall very good. Would definitely go back! Great for a romantic dinner!"

  • "I do not enjoy going to a restaurant with cozy seating and soft lighting with a huge bustling kitchen in the middle with glowing overhead white tube lighting... Really killed the mood... Also, the sample menu they give on the website is from February... Nothing we were interested in eating was on the actual menu that day... Disappointing!"

  • "My partner and I visited Cucina 24 for a romantic dinner at the end of our trip to Asheville. I had been there one time before years ago and had very fond memories of their delicious cheese plate. I had the hanger steak, he had the tagliatelli, and we ordered 2 glasses of the Campo di Majoli. Without a doubt, one of the best meals both of us have ever had (and we are major foodies who have eaten at a variety of fine restaurants). The wine was amazing, and we ended up buying a bottle of it to take home with us. The staff were top-notch. Can't recommend this place highly enough, and we have already agreed that we will try to get a table here on every trip we take to Asheville."

  • "Great food and service. Salmon was to "die for" and roasted pig delicious!"

  • "Arrived for our reservation to find the restaurant empty... yet still questioned ferociously about our reservation. I have been to many fine dining restaurants in the US and Europe, however to have only four main entree choices is pushing the bounds to where a menu becomes a set meal, which is not as the restaurant advertises. Also for the price, you would expect more choice and variety. Maybe the first idea would be to not add pork elements to all dishes as there are those of use who do not eat pork - in Asheville I would have thought this already was known. Apart from all this, the service was great, and maybe on a night when the menu suits you pallet you would enjoy this restaurant."

  • "We live downtown AVL and C-24 is at the top of our best AVL restaurant list - and we have many great ones. Always friendly, professional, competent service and excellent food. Menu has many standard items but they are always prepared a little differently through the course of the year making each visit a slightly new experience. Always excellent and timely prepared and served. Staff turnover is infrequent which is a sign of a well run establishment and staff remember steady patrons. A reliably excellent experience."

  • "We took out if town guests to Cucino 24 and we had a wonderful time. The restaurant was noisy enough to seem energetic yet quiet enough to talk. The food was beautifully presented. The sweetbeards were the best in Asheville. The tagliatelle was perfectly prepared. Our only disappointment was the ricotta gnocchi whichshoukd be like little clouds that float in your mouth but instead were heavy, tough and dry. The service was exceptional - knowledgable about the menu, professional and courteous There when you needed them but not hovering."

  • "We might have come at an odd time, holiday Sunday for early-ish dinner but the place was almost empty (save the employees and a handful of people at the bar). It was quiet and the staff was very attentive. The food was unique and all tasted very good!"

  • " Nice ambiance and the service was attentive but not overly so. I found the food to be only average. For the price, I would not return for dinner but would go back for drinks."

  • "We were very happy with the food . I had seen an extensive menu online and was surprised when I was handed a 1 page sheet for the menu. The server told us that they go to farmers market that day and menu is determined by what they buy. I had the Gnocci which was with squash in some light sauce I think with basil. It seemed to be seared in butter so had a nice crust. My husband had bolognese and said it was great. I had a chocolate gelato with nuts which was the perfect finish. It was not the typical huge portions like in most Italian restaurants so I could have had a salad too. The server was very helpful and would definitely go again . Perfect evening We ate at 7:30 and it got crowded as we were leaving."

  • "Attractive Bar, nice pour, and pleasant dining area in sight of the kitchen. Friendly attentive service. Novel appetizers and small plates including white anchovies, pork belly, whole sardines etc. Excellent very tasty novel pizzas and pastas. Good breadsticks. As usual, skipped desserts. Would definitely return."

  • "When we travel we prefer to seek out nice local restaurants so we asked a local that is very familiar with downtown Asheville for a recommendation. Cucina 24 was at the top of the list. We're glad we took his advice. We're not true foodies, but we do enjoy a nice meal, and this place more than met our expectations. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly, and the service was appropriately attentive. The menu changes daily and at first seemed somewhat limited, but in reality there is enough variety that one is able to find the perfect selection. We opted for two pasta dishes, and both were excellent. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We definitely would go again. "

  • "Had a great dinner entertaining business guests. Our group of 5 was well taken care of. Everything we had was well presented and just the right portion sizes to make for an enjoyable evening. They also have a very nice bar up front. "

  • "The food here is outstanding. So good we went back twice in our one week in Asheville. Menu changes every day, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Homemade pastas and pizzas are amazing, as are the fish and meat dishes. Tried a lot of dishes over the two visits (including tasting those of my family), and every one was terrific. They really know how to cook here! Can't wait to go back."
