Diner Reviews
  • "We went here during a food tour a few years ago. We went back for dinner and loved it. Planned our East Coast vacation to exclude another dining experience and took our son and his wife. This is a must dine place on our list. If we didn't like on the West Coast we would be there on a regular basis. Very great food and great price."

  • "The acoustics in the place cause all conversations (most of them loud do to all you can drink brunch) and music to just drown out what you say."

  • "Make a reservation, because you'll probably need one. The food and cocktails are amazing. Everything is very tasty and beautifully presented. The restaurant itself is crowded and high-energy, but no one will rush you out the door."

  • "The food is just good. The empanadas are fried to perfection. The pork belly is crispy and succulent. You can't go wrong with entrees regardless of wanting fish, chicken or beef. The desserts are wonderful too. I've sat upstairs and downstairs. The ambiance is different depending on when you are there and where you sit. But I've had a great intimate dinner, as well as a fun group dinner there."

  • "The food here is always great and you even get to get your own cigar while they roll it at the window. Appetizer Yuquita Frita was great Entree: Churrasco skirt steak, yucca mash, chimichurri and this was amazing as well. Try to get there early cause this place tends to get really packed."

  • "Wasn't a huge fan of the app, but the food was good. Restaurant got amazing reviews - hostess and bartender was great - waiter was super busy."

  • "The food is to die for! Ate here twice and loved it both times. The service is impeccable. Vibrant yet welcoming atmosphere."

  • "Went on a busy Saturday with a large party, the table was perfectly situated, we were quickly seated even though a couple of people from our party hadn't arrived. The service was impeccable and the food/drinks, DELICIOUS!"

  • "terrific experience. the food was unusual and captivating. the music -- live and rythmic -- perfectly caught the spirit of the night. when we dined there were romantic couples, families with children, seniors revisiting a favorite haunt -- all sharing in the splendid time. and oh yes, the service couldn't have been better. my wife and i visit a different restaurant each weekend--part of a long-standing date night ritual. So we've seen many a delightful eatery. Cuba ranks in the top most of our list"

  • "I was interested in getting some Cuban food in the trendy Greenwich Village neighborhood this weekend. The menu had some great options. The theme inside was very fitting to the name. I was hoping for a little better food but I'd try it again."

  • "I have been to Cuba for brunch a number of times. Cuba is a solid choice when it comes to Brunch. The drinks are always very good as is the food and the ambiance. I do wish the waitstaff was a little more available when it comes to drinks, but so be it."

  • "Great service, too. Seafood paella was great to share, and also, their sangria was amazing."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "Just like in Havana, good food and good music are served up together in this notable VIllage restaurant. Traditional dishes, like arroz con pollo, were delicious, as were the scallops, rice and beans and yucca. Mojitos, sangria excellent. Service friendly. Very lively scene on a Saturday night."

  • "A little loud but overall good food, drinks and atmosphere."

  • "Very small, cramped space but worth it at least once. Particularly if you are in thearea and particularly early sunday evening; before the band starts if you want o talk to your dinner partner/s. We had to ask to have the music turnned as it was overly loud. They were very accomodating. The service was very pleasant and helpful. All three of us felt our food was delicious/ Shrimp in garlic was excellent as a starter. I had the skirt steak with chimichurra sauce, one of our party has the pork tenderloin and thoroughly enjoyed it. Desert was very good, Flan and tres leche cake. My only complaint is they did not have decaf coffee. I hope they remedy that."

  • "The service was terrific. Nice atmosphere. Live music upstairs and quieter downstairs - best if both worlds. I was expected the food to be spicier, but they let the ingredients stand on there own. Wish food had a little more bite, but not bad at all."

  • "Been here quite a number of times. Tight quarters but the place is fun- excellent food and service. - fun Cuban band Excellent and hand rolled cigars- for free. Please tip! If your thinking about maybe trying- DO IT! You wont be disappointed. Bob C NYC"

  • "I've been to Cuba twice and experienced different vibes, but overall, the service and food were increadible! They feature a cigar roller every night, but on Friday nights they also have a live band. The music is loud, but not obnoxious. The food is fantastic and the drinks? Keep 'em coming! Our server was pleasant and helpful when going through the specials and any questions we had."

  • "Food was OK. Not bad at all but I've had better. I'm spoiled this way. The atmosphere is great and friendly. Great music.Very noisy upstairs with music. If you want to have a conversation, go downstairs. I wish they had a place to dance but then nobody would eat. He-he-he. Their red sangria and mojitos were delicious. Pork belly appetizer was highly recommended by the waiter but was too chewy. octopus appetizer was great and soft though. Plantains were great. Suckling pig was good. and no, it's not whole pig. Shrimps were ok but very spicy sauce. Not for everyone but I liked it. Overal, great presentation in food."

  • "This place was fantastic! I had been wanting real Cuban food and not the extra fancy plates they try to pass off as Cuban in this city and I definitely found it! The place is small and very cramped, if you move your arm you're already hitting the person next to you. With that said, you have things that make up for it like the live music and ambience. The food was spectacular! Everyone should try the mahi mahi if you like seafood, it was AMAZING! The moro tasted authentic and the yuca frita was fried perfectly with great cilantro sauce and enough to share between two or three. I also recommend the skirt steak steak which comes with a big portion of plantains and the cheese empanadas. Tres leches was good for dessert."

  • "There is an amazing energy at Cuba - a combination of music and lively conversation. Tables are very close, and it just seemed natural to strike up a conversation with the couple next to us. And when they left, a new conversation with the couple that took their place. The atmosphere is very friendly. The chorizo appetizer was very good, my husband loved his flavorful pork dish, and my plantain encrusted red snapper was okay. This is a really fun place to spend an evening. We requested (through Open Table) a table on the first floor and away from the door and got exactly that!"

  • "Lovely atmosphere and great waiting staff. Listened to some cool Latin beats while watching the guy roll cigars. Food was tasty and not too hot. Cocktails we tried were great and as English tourists we'd highly recommend the place + only couple mins walk to Bleecker."

  • "Went with the GF for valentines day, and she loved the ambiance. Its a great find if you love Cuban, if the place a tad more spacious then it would be a lot better. But all in all it was a wonderful experience."

  • "Great all you can drink deal and the food is amazing as well. The portions are a good size and I'll definitely go back for the Vaca Frita."

  • "Came here for dinner. Being Cuban myself, I had high hopes. I had been craving some of my grandma's cooking so I came here. I enjoyed the experience overall, but the food was OK. Perhaps it was because I ordered Paella when i was craving Ropa Vieja. The servers were great and made sure I always had a cocktail in hand. The rum flight at the end of dinner was great as well."

  • "The tables are set a little too close for comfort but it is a pretty space. Some seating is downstairs and it is not handicap friendly (one step but but awkward negotiating the wind enclusre at the door. Men's room down steep steps. That said the staff is very accomdoating and there is a Ladie's room on the street level. The food is delicious and authentic (my mother was Cuban so I know) but it is very expensive for Cuban faie. Dinner for three -one drink each, one shared appetizers and three entrees was well over a $100."

  • "My favorite was the tuna carpaccio dish, the name escapes me, but it was a featured appetizer and was absolutely delicious. The mojitos looked yummy and I will definitely try next time I go back. Amazing food, worth the try!"

  • "I love this restaurant, food is delicious. The steaks are so good..the ceviche was to die for, I don't even eat seafood and liked it a lot. The mojitos are amazing..overall I really like this place and recommended to anyone."

  • "This was not one of the best experiences at Cuba, as the waiter did not pay any attention to our requests. We ordered drinks and then another pitcher of cocktails, which he proceeded to pour before he came to the table - in spite of the fact that some of us already had full cocktails and not everyone was drinking. Put in an order for a couple of side dishes that we specifically asked that they NOT be brought out with the apps and to be served with our entrees...and out came the side dishes with the apps! When the entrees were served - the steaks that were ordered Medium Rare came out WELL Done and had to be sent back. In spite of all of the frustration...we still had a good time and hope for a much better experience next time!"

  • "This was my second Cuba experience and once again they did not disappoint. The food was very good and the 2 hour unlimited brunch cocktails were excellent. Seating was a bit cramped but after the 3rd or 4th drink you'll hardly notice. Service was good but could tell they were busy trying to accommodate everyone. So sometimes a tiny wait. I definitely recommend Cuba for a good time!"

  • "Cuba never fails to disappoint. I've had the pleasure of eating here a few times already, great spot for Friday and Saturday nights in the city. The prices are affordable, the portions always filling, and the food always delicious. The servers are always nice and the ambience is fantastic, a man hand rolling cigars in the window, live music, the works. Some people may find the place to be small, but it only adds to the intimacy, and excitement of dining out. Great drinks too!"
