Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum BarMostly wonderfulDespite an unpleasant run-in with the maitre-d at our arrival to the restaurant, we had a lovely meal. We were a party of five and the one person missing upon arrival was parking the car in a crowded lot and was delayed for some time. We wanted to go ahead and get seated, as the bar was completely full to overflowing and there was nowhere else to stand other than the doorway. When we were FINALLY seated, the server was great, the cocktails very well done and the food impressed everyone. Our server saved the evening, as she was efficient, helpful and on top of everything. Camagüey Meatballs, and Crab Ceviche (tiny portion!) were delicious. Grilled Baby Octopus was tasty enough, although it was tough. Cuban Sandwich Spring Rolls, Croquetas, and Grilled Mushroom Escabéche Salad were just OK -- not bad but not worth having again. The server was nice enough. We got the unlimited Tapas option ($26), and I must say, it is totally worth it! The food was excellent, the ingredients tasted fresh and unique. Great cuban style ambience and everyone really liked their entrees and their cuban drinks (Mojitos and Caipirinhas).
for appetizers we enjoyed the guac with pineapple and the plantain chips and salsa, and the spinach and cheese puffs.
Our entrees included ,the marinated skirt steak, shredded beef with rice, the cuban sandwich, the chicken and rice....all were given thumbs up and no complaints from the table.

All of the food was delicious and presented with a flair. They even accommodated my teen by Americanizing their brunch dish. We tried french toast, pancakes, eggs, pork fried rice and a selection of vegetarian dishes. The others said the Bloody Mary's were really good too!

The interior decorations and table settings definitely set an energetic mood. Our meals were very tasty, and did indeed remind me of the Cuban food I used to get in south Florida. One very nice feature was the option of getting multiple small plates for dinner as opposed to a single entrée. Our service was astonishingly good.

We were served drinks immediately upon being seated, then the server explained how tapas-style dining works: you order 2 to 3 dishes at a time, and they come out as they are prepared. The kitchen timed it perfectly, even on busy Mother's Day, so that each dish came out as we finished the one before it.
