Diner Reviews
  • "Service (Joshua) was outstanding. Food selection is adventurous whilst honoring the tradition elements. Need to get past the dark and shabby and take a plunge into a truly wonderful dinning experience in Orlando; which can be high on theatrical and low on quality. Cuba Libre is an exception ... Try it."

  • "We had an excellent dinner at Cuba Libre and the mojitos were fantastic. My guest, who is a foodie, was impressed. Service was a little slow considering that the place was nearly empty when we were there, but well worth the wait."

  • "I was very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Though in a busy area next to the Orlando convention center, they had a quiet outdoor patio. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the prix fix tasting menu which was delicious and generous. Could easily feed two people. The entrees included mahi mahi with a great spicy sauce, shrimp and skirt steak, also nicely seasoned. Appetizers and a choice of 2 out of 6 desserts rounded out the meal. Indoors was livelier with salsa dancing. The bar offers creative rum drinks. I would recommend this especially if you are staying in one of the hotels near the convention center.."

  • "Wow, I can't tell which was the best feature at Cuba Libre… free valet parking? Great decor and the food was delish! Our server gave us a very detailed lowdown, except… somehow my order was wrong (she caught it and sent it back) and my dinner was 10 minutes later than my 3 compadres. That was a bummer and I thought it should have been comped but wasn't."

  • "The food is really great here! The ambiance of the restaurant is cool because it is like you are eating on the streets of havana/Cuba which does lead it to be very loud when full. The plantain chips with guacamole is awesome and different. We had the opportunity to take advantage of the Tuesday special which was the all you can eat menu of tapas. Everything we tried was fantastic. The grilled baby octopus was our favorite and highly recommended!"

  • "I went here for my Birthday. The food was mediocre, I actually think I cook way better than this. We had the beef Empanadas and the Fried Plantains with Eggplant and other dips. Those were very good. My Salmon was overcooked, my friend had the Vaca Frita which she said she makes it better at home, overall the presentation of the dishes was very pretty, but taste wise very mediocre, Actually I have had 5$dollar plates at Las Americas in Longwood that tasted better. Don't get me wrong! This place is really nice, great drinks, great music and service...but the food is just ehhh. Had a lovely time in VIP, after 11pm it turns into a club..really awesome!"

  • "We had a desire for Cuban cuisine and found this restaurant and were not disappointed! We started with guava caipirinhas (a fantastic sugar-cane liquor drink from Brazil) and followed with the pompano fish entree and a popular pork dish. Yummy!!!! Such good flavors and presentations. Desserts and coffee were equally delectable. I especially recommend the Cafe Cuba Libre which consists of steamed coconut milk with sugar cane syrup sweetened strong coffee. So good I went back the next night just for a coffee."

  • "Our family had a long day; me and the boys day at blizzard beach, wife at the Mary Kay conference. My wife loves tapas and my boys live Cubans so we were looking for a non-fast food non- franchise place to eat a hearty meal that could out an end to the day. My wife had th Cuban sandwich rolls and the yuca fries with cheese. She liked them very much. My 12 year old had the churrasco burger my 8 year old the Cuban sandwich. They both finished their meals which was after sampling My plate. The 15 tastes of Cuba was an absolute winner. The portions were enough for my family to sample and enjoy a taste, the main courses more than enough. The mini desserts were really a nice touch. Were it not for the parking, 5 stars."

  • "From different samples of appetizers to different samples of main course dish to different samples of deserts and finally to different samples of Mojitos...WOW!!! Everything tasted GREAT!!! The service (Bill was our waiter) made our dining experience the BEST! The only negative experience was when we went upstairs. We ordered a pitcher of Coconut Mojitos. It did not taste good. They did not re-mix it to make it taste good, they added coconut and said here. It still did not taste right! The manager came and had to make sure it was made right the 3d time but before doing so he said they made it right and we told him "they did not re-make it nor was it right because we just had some downstairs it did not taste the same at all."

  • "The presentation of food was fantastic. Like the twist on chips and salsa (Plantains and assorted yummy hummus, roasted red pepper salsa and an incredible fig whatnot). Loved the twist on the salad with fennel, pea shoots and parsimmons. Cigar box presentation of check was clever. Needs to expand outdoor deck and ramp up service. Server disposition was excellent but food came out too slow."

  • "The decor and atmosphere are unique. The crowd was lively. Our group ordered the tapas tasting menu so we got a little bit of several dishes. We all agree the food was ok, but not a wow. The best part was the desserts."

  • "The food was good, no question, but my waiter was exceptional. Was not pushy but was there to answer questions About the menu. When I wanted another drink he asked if I was interested in trying another spiced rum. He made some Suggestions and they were good and LESS than what I originally bought. This would be a great place for a group."

  • "I have been waiting to try this restaurant for a few months. It was a double date. I ordered the Chicharrones-$13- and the Empanadas-4 for $20. The Chicharrones was not bad but it was a couple pieces of pork & beef with 2 tontones. The taste was what I expected. The empanadas were mediocre as they lacked the traditional seasoning. We ordered the monitors and they were disappointing as they had barely any liquor so we all switched to beer & wine. I ordered the lechon asado, my friend had the vaca frita and the guys ordered the chimichuri steak. The dishes lacked flavor & quality. The steaks were gummy and full of fat. Not to mention we had to wait an you for our meals because there was a party of 30 that backed the whole restaurant."

  • "I really like this place to have a intimate dinner with your spouse or any friend, I like the ambience in the place for dance, I liked a lot the food that I ate, (salmon), I really love Cuba Libre."

  • "This place has awesome classic Cuban food and excellent modern plays on some other classic Cuban dishes. Some of the portion sizes are a bit on the smaller side, but the food is amazing. I would not recommend for a weekly visit, but it is great for special occassions. Hats off to the chef. I have been to my share of Cuban restaraunts in Orlando and this place had the best food hands down so far."

  • "We had a great experience at Cuba Libre! We were celebrating my birthday and Valentines Day. I got the 15 tastes of Cuba and it was fantastic. My husband got the seafood paella. It was just enough to try all kinds of different dishes without stuffing yourself. I loved the ambiance. We sat on the main floor down stairs. We ate early so we didn't get to see the music or dancers. It is quite pricey but our service was impeccable. We had Laura and she was so delightful and attentive. She made us feel very special. I loved the happy hour half pitcher of sangria and the flan with a heart was a nice end to the night! :)"

  • "There's nothing remotely authentic Cuban about this place on Orlando's restaurant row near the convention center. The food was greasy and unmemorable. The mojitos had no alcohol in them. We had a waiter who relentlessly tried to upsell food and drinks all evening. Skip it."

  • "Great spot. I go every time I'm in Orlando. Love the food. Servers are always spot on, well informed and properly attentive. Took 4 associates who had not had Cuban food before and all were delighted."

  • "I've been to this restaurant about 10 times and always has a good experience. This time was good too but our waiter was a little cold. I don't know if it was because we are locals. Maybe we should have said that we were tourists :("

  • "Trust the waiters, they know the food and are honest about the drinks. I love a place that makes the staff eat the food. Everything was perfect!!!"

  • "Food was way overpriced. Drinks were weak and overpriced. Not much that was authentic. The service was great and our waitress very sweet. It didn't though make up for how unsatisfied I was with the menu and bothered I was by the prices. This is the kind of place that can fool non-Cuban tourists, definitely not a local Cuban. I will never return, and I will recommend several other Cuban restaurant before ever suggesting this one. If you're dancing in the area and need a quick bite, sure. But if you were like me traveling from Apopka because of the review you read, totally not worth it. Sorry. Maybe if it wasn't so overpriced, I mean come on, it's Cuban food. You shouldn't have to pay for a side of rice and beans! :( I was very disappointed."

  • "We stopped in for the Cappie Hour menu but ended up ordering lots of Tapas. The Pork belly is fantastic and Guacamole with plantains is a nice change from Mexican versions. The bar is more cozy than the out of scale dinning room."

  • "Selected this restaurant based on online search. The food was great, price was ok, portion size was fairly good. I was not aware it was in a tourist location. The service was great, however, I booked an early reservation and there was only a few people there and they may have been staff. We had a lovely dinner and enjoyed the food."

  • "Food was delicious, service excellent and drinks outstanding. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and you feel you have been transported someplace in Cuba!! We had the tasting menu and everything was delicious and favorful. We ate too much!!! Can't wait to visit the one in Atlantic City!"

  • "The service was slow. I wasn't in a hurry so mostly I didn't mind, but it was a cold night outside and inside the restaurant, we were seated at a table directly under an air conditioning vent. I had my coat on the whole time and I was still freezing. By the time we got our food, they were already starting to clear tables away for the dance floor. As we were getting dessert, there were people dancing literally around our table, so we couldn't really enjoy it, nor could we talk to each other anymore."

  • "We had visited this restaurant several years ago and remembered it as being a vibrant spot. It may have just been an off night but the restaurant was very quiet and half empty. The food was good and the service attentive but nothing extraordinary."

  • "From the moment our waittress, who was excellent and very knowledgable, came to our table till the last bite when we couldn't eat another thing....it was excellent. I was educated and ate genuine cuban food that was delicious. I would recommend to everyone but families with kids. They specialize in homemade mojihos and have a couple bars with dancing, so take them somewhere they would like, not here. If you want a great night out with someone...this is definitely not someplace that I would pass up."

  • "Went to Cuba Libre for New Year's. It was fun with 5 course meal, great service and two dance floors. However, on the lower dance floor the DJ kept playing Reggaeton almost all night long and on the upper one it was old disco tunes and some rap. So, no Cuban music, salsa, rumba, samba or cha cha. Shame but I would still go there again sometime for the atmosphere."
