The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, the server knew everything we could possibly ask about the menu, and the food was fantastic. It was a little loud due to some kind of convention reception upstairs but I assume it's not always like that. Had a great tasting plate of their whole menu from appetizer to dessert and everything was really good. Good kids menu as well...and great drinks! But I am amazed that restaurants in Orando (not just Cuba Libre) which are so close to the convention center, seem to be totally clueless about when conventions are in town, and how the convention could affect their service levels.
They only had one real bartender on staff, who rocked it as much as he could all night.The other bartender was clueless about service. Even the bar back, who was not able to make drinks, could see that people we waiting forever to get served.

Our party of 4 was seated immediately on the patio, and an umbrella was raised to ward off the late evening sun and any threat of rain. We shared a refreshing pitcher of white sangria while perusing the menus: regular, Twilight 3 course, and the 15 Tastes of Cuba. The tasting menu was 15 "small" portions which spanned the regular menu and could easily have been shared by 2 or even 3 people for dinner. Favorites from the tasting were the shrimp ceviche, malanga fritters, and mulangos (fried sweet plantains), and the churrasco a la cubana (skirt steak). The server was very knowledgeable about drinks and food. Drinks came promptly and were delicious. I choose the sampler and had more than enough food. My friend had a steak and says it was one of the best he ever ate. I enjoyed the small tastes of many of their signature dishes. Service was excellent - we never felt rushed, and it was a Friday night.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding again!I had come to Cuba Libra with my girlfriend about a year ago and we both had a great time. This time I took my son for his HS graduation and it was just as good an experience. Our waiter was rum lover like myself and paired my taste of cuba with 2 different rums and finished off with a nice wine. My son also got the taste of cuba and the waiter paired all of his courses with a different virgin mohito for each course.
Outstanding again.
And though its not currently on the menu, ask for the black cherry mohito. Arrived to an almost empty house at 6:00 on a Saturday evening, but that quickly changed. The service was attentive but not overly so. Food was prepared perfectly from the warm pressed bread that was served immediately at the table to the entrees. In the end, both are fabulous and there is no reason to decide. Loved watching the dancers on the dance floor from up above. The food is well prepared, had great flavors, right amounts of spice and heat. When my Black Bean soup did not come out with the three other appetizers, everyone jumped into action to see why it was missed, It hit the table less than a minute later with more apologies than necessary.
Manager came by and checked in with diners multiple times, received a follow up call the next day to make sure every thing was up to par. YouCuba Libre is fabulous. You are immediately transported back to Havana! It is great for indoor or outdoor dining. Their bar area is beautiful, comfortable and fully stocked with many great variations of the traditional Mojito's. The menu has many traditional Cuban favorites done beautifully with light bites to full entrees. The staff is caring, welcoming, friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable. It is a great place to celebrate a special occasion as they make it even more special for you. When we are in Orlando, we never miss a chance to go to Cuba Libre. It takes you through their menu, one bite at a time. It's amazing how much food there is for just one person. Mariquitas Cubanas with trio of dips (smoked marlin salad) was da bomb! Churrasco a la Cubana (skirt steak) was juicy and flavorful. Paella de Mariscos was very good as well - lots of seafood and super-flavorful rice.
