A word from Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar - Atlantic City
Passing through the doors of Cuba Libre Restaurant and Rum Bar in The Quarter at Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City transports guests to Old Havana, Cuba of the 1940s.

The restaurant's atmosphere offers the unique combination of Latin warmth, flavor and splendor - from the "movie set" re-creation of an Old Havana street scene to the steamy Cuban rhythms. One-of-a-kind millwork and architectural salvage including unique doors, gates, cabinetry, furniture and accessories help capture the essence of old Cuban architecture. Colorful exotic foliage and large potted palm trees add to Cuba Libre's open-air, tropical ambiance.

A colleague and I tried the Taste of Cuba sampling menu and it was fabulous! I even tried things I do not normally eat. The staff was engaging and knowledgeable, the decor and ambiance perfect for a night out. I honestly expected it to be more expensive than it was and was pleased by the value we received for such wonderful food.

Mojitos were so good as was the guacamole appetizer. Both of our dinners exceeded our already high expectations & I even finished mine which I normally never do. I wanted an after dinner drink (a shot of rum) and asked the waitress to bring something she recommended. Can't explain how good it was....warm & sweet! It's from Bermuda. She even wrote down the name of it for me! We will definitely go back.

We both had their salmon entree with couscous and it was delicious! Wasn't crazy about their guacamole but in general, everything was good. If we are back in Atlantic City, we would try this place again.

Had a three course meal and out of all the items only the dessert was ok. The one good thing was that the manager was understanding and comped one of the meals. I would not return to this restaurant unless they adjust the salt levels of the meals. It felt like they dunked the entire meal in salt.

We dined at Cuba Libra on Labor Day weekend and enjoyed our meal. We started with a pitcher of classic Mojito for the table of 4 - refreshing and different! I ordered Lechón Asado (pulled pork) which was yummy. 2 of our members had the fish and loved it. The 4th had the Mango Mojito Shrimp. We all enjoyed our meals and there were no left overs. The atmosphere was nice looking out into the restaurant. The service was good. We walked around Tropicana following dinner. You can use the receipt from dinner and get back in for the night club without a cover.

Despite being a small chain restaurant, Cuba Libre has managed to create a wonderful menu of pan-latin foods that are well-prepared, nicely presented, and absolutely delicious. We had the chef's tasting dinner consisting of several appetizers, several small entrees, and 2 small desserts (the flan is amazing). We are picky diners, and I have to say everything was just cooked perfectly. The decor is fun and engaging, the drink menu is great, and it's all worth every penny. Can't wait to go back!

daughter & I thought we'd try "someplace different" for early night out in AC. We'd read that this was a lively place with authentic cuban food & drinks. Disappointed in our table (corner near the bathrooms/no view of the relaxing palm leaf fans or other diners). So ordered a mojito & sangria & hoped that the evening would get energized quickly. The cuban guacamole w/ pineapple came w/ crispy wavy strips of plantain, perfect for 2 hungry warrior women. But the 1 & 1/2 oz empanadas (waiter Guillermo explained thats how "big" they were ) were not worth $11. Foodie junior loved the vaca frita while I tried the arroz con pollo. It was cuban comfort food. Not sure we'll return. Note:waiter kept touching me(arm, shoulder, hand)very CREEPY!

We were surprised how very good the food, service and ambiance was at Cuba Libre. The food was as good as any Hudson County Cuban, really tasty and a great variety of other latin foods and american foods with latin flavors. The decor was very 1950's cuban-esque, ala Guys and Dolls. The svc was attentive and helpful, most especially the waiter who served the food: he made sure everyone knew individually what they were eating, how it was prepared and checked that we were satisfied with what we ordered. The dance music was appropriately loud but the ability to dance a bit after dinner was great. You may remain in the club though after dinner but cannot hold the table so note this. Latin downstairs, club upstairs - nice.

My husband and I dined at Cuba Libre this weekend. The food was authentic and delicious. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, in spite of the sold out tables on a Saturday night. Ambience was lacking as we were seated at a table for two, with tables on either side of us with only inches to spare making it impossible to engage in conversation without overhearing others. Also, the very small table was up against a wall, so that was my view of the restaurant. If we go again, I would choose to eat at the bar rather than sit at one of those tiny tables for two without a view.

The wine list is excellent and moderately priced. Service was fast but not intrusive. Bonus: you avoid the cover in the nightclub portion later if you retain your dining receipt

My girlfriends and I had an amazing dinner at the Atlantic City location. Every course was absolutely scrumptious and the wait staff was very friendly. Just amazingly delicious food. There were quite a few groups of young ladies and young men. Perhaps bachelor/bachelorette dinners? Book early if you want to dine at 7 or 8. Interior was a bit dark but it was an absolutely wonderful dining experience.

This is my second visit to Cuba Libre. The wait staff has been very attentive and friendly both times. The first time we took advantage of the 15 tastes tasting menu. Everything was delicious. The waiter recommended sharing one order for lunch and there was a good amount of food. We also added the seafood soup -- the best I've ever had! The second time, we ordered an assortment of small plates and the seafood soup for a late night meal. There wasn't an item we didn't enjoy! Waiter recommended a few of the small plates and all of the recommendations were successful. Classic mojito is still the best, though other mojito flavors and white sangria are also great. Combination mojito flight and ceviche flight was a great special.

    1. The hostess, arrival and service was impeccable. 2. The lighting in the restaurant must improve - Understanding this is a night-hot-spot with, during dinner the customers "should" be able to read the menu and order from it! 3. Music very loud. Unable to hear anyone across the able - Again understanding its a night-hot-spot, cater to the diner's first and while the night progresses lights should start to dim and music louder. 4. Food - The only thing I enjoyed was the mussels. Everything else, the Gaucho, Arroz Con Pollo, Paella etc were ALL over seasoned! And when did ONION RINGS become a Cuban stable? For real Cuban Food go to Cuban Pete's in Montclair NJ or Havanna's Cafe in the Bronx. Will never returned. Gave away my $300!

I think this was our 8-9th dinner here. It was always great but this time the four of us were not as satisfied. The maître de was very nice but our server was not friendly. He seemed to only care about rattling off his mandatory spiel send getting the job done. The apps and entrees were super salty, which is new. Not good. I had a glass of Malbec from Argentina that was a touch stale. Is this the decline of a once amazing restaurant?

We arrived a bit late for our reservation, but they accomodated us fine. Server was knowledgeable an friendly and didn't pressure us as we looked through the menu as everything looked so good. Since It was Late We ordered tappas. The food was delicious. The Cuban cocktails were delicious. As we sat after our meal a bus person came to take our dishes with her hands already full and knocked a dirty knife on my wife's white pants and just walked away without saying a word. Our waitress did see this and brought over club soda, that was the only drawback, we everything else was fine.

I wasn't so impressed with this place. The food was OK, nothing special or worth raving over. The mojitos are TERRIBLE. It's a nice atmosphere and our waitress was great. But the people greeting you in at the front are terrible and should be replaced. They told us they were completely booked for a table of 7 as I was there with a group of friends celebrating a birthday. We even asked if they could split us up into 2 tables and they said no. But I was able to reserve 2 tables through Open Table. Such liars. I will never go to this place again or recommend it, unless it's ONLY for the bar scene.
