3/24/12 - We were greeted by our 2 favorite hostesses in the world: Viviana & Christina. We hung out at the bar with our mixoligist: Eduardo and drank ICE COLD Pina Coladas all night along with eating some: Empanadas & Fried Yuca as appetizers. Listened to the HOT band (we do all feel that they are a great band but have been taking too many breaks lately...)and were served a hot, FABULOUS dinner prepared by Chef Mario and served by our favorite waiter: Tony. Jose rolled my a great cigar to smoke throughout the night. What else can you ask for on a Saturday night or ANY night at Cuba restaurant, the staff out does it self EVERY night. THIS IS OUR FAMILY "LA FAMILIA" WHEN WE ARE AWAY FROM HOME & GO OUT TO NEW YORK FOR A GREAT NIGHT OUT!!!!

The usual EXCELLENT night at Cuba, having fun with the staff (Viviana, Christina, Tony, Jose, Winston, [Eduardo - on vacation]Luis and everyone else! Got there for the first time ever at around 7:30 pm as my wife wanted to listen to the band from as close to the beginning as possible - even though she has no idea what they are saying- LOL!(they play from 7:00 pm - 11: 00 pm); we hung out at the bar and drank 2 pitchers of Sangria with Empanadas and fried Yuca, with another couple we met before (great place to meet regulars)and then met two more new couples (one their first time there) that wanted to hang out with us also. Ate dinner around 11:00 pm which consisted of 1. Vaca Frita & 2. Lechon Asado and drank 2 LOVE ALL YOU GUYS - SEE YOU!

Every time we go back to Cuba, the food, service and ambience just keep getting better...soft shell crab over guacamole appetizer was outstanding as was the paella. everything fresh and all food goes down easy with their awesome sangrias.

Cuba is a one-of-a-kind gem in the heart of downtown West Village. The ambiance is welcoming, the plates are enormous and the mojitos are to die for! You must try the plantains, tamal cubano, ropa veija and all of the paellas are amazing! Monday thru Thursday from 4-7 the $5 Mojitos and Sangria are delicious... and deadly!
Accompanying the cuisine, the staff is outstanding! I've been to the restaurant a few times and, without fail, every time I go I am treated like royalty. There are not enough great things to say about Cuba - it's an absolute LOVE!

Had reservations but still had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Hostess told us to wait at the bar but the small bar was full and we felt like we were standing in the way of the staff. Loud atmosphere even when band was not playing. Front dining room was overcrowed and noisy. We were seated in the back dining room which was only slightly less noisy due to the large party tables. Had the ceviche mixto which was excellent as was the lechon asado and vaca frita. Service was ok until we had to ask for the check.
