A word from Crush - Seattle
Crush began as the dream of owners Nicole and Jason Wilson in 2003 when they set out to remodel and build an original 1903 Victorian house into a Modern American Restaurant that showcases the best in Jason's Cuisine and seasonal ingredients of the Northwest. Opening in 2005 CRUSH has quickly become a destination for an unparalleled dining experience in Seattle. Jason's approach and inspiration to food has been noted as Modern American, with personal influences and French technique. Using the best ingredients, focusing on quality first, the seasons & relationships with the best producers and growers dictating the ingredients has been the philosophy to our cuisine. Jason was chosen by Food and Wine magazine in 2006 as a "Best New Chef", nominated in 2008 for the Best Chef Northwest by the James Beard Foundation among many other accolades.   • "We went here for a romantic birthday and it was lovely. The sommelier was well informed and the wine list was well composed. The 7 course meal was delightful. Highlights were the frog legs (a first for me!) and the "bacon and eggs" that wasn't like any bacon and eggs that I've ever had, but AMAZING. A few things that keep me from giving it a 5 star: The prices are high and there were a few dishes that missed the mark. One was a oversalted, and the desserts weren't a direct hit. I should've orded the chocolate thingy... The service was very good, though they seemed a bit rushed. But we had an amazing meal and a lovely night out. They remembered my husband's birthday from my reservation, and gave us a fantastic table."

  • "My boyfriend & I have adored Crush for many years. It has been the go-to special occasion spot. However.. they recently changed their menu. You now must order the multi-course tasting menu. (Diners *could* order a-la-carte, but the portion sizes are now so small; it just wouldn't be worth it for the price of each item.) The actual offerings have changed as well (no more short ribs, pork 5 ways, or even their opening bread service with salted butter). Cost and menu changes aside, it honestly just didn't taste as good! We walked out having spent more money than normal, but having had a *less* enjoyable dinner to show for it. I'm so disappointed to say that after many, many dinners at Crush, we've determined that was our last."

  • "The restaurant had great service, style and ambience. The flavor of the food was great though the portions were small. I am a former Executive Chef and have worked in fine dining. For a course, 1 lamb chop on a plate or 1 scallop or 1 slice of rib eye doesn’t constitute a meal. I would recommend going here for a special occasion but there is other restaurants in Seattle you will feel a better value for the money."

The food was delicious, our server was exceedingly kind and helpful, and we had a great time, definitely a meal and experience to remember for years to come, or at least until we return."

  • "....this restaurant delivered an exceptional experience, but that was long ago. What happened? Highlights included all the little extra amuse bouche: Grougeres, macaroons, cauliflower soup, strawberry fresno pepper sorbet The other 6 courses (12 dishes between my husband and me) we ordered from the menu were either simply horrible or not remarkable in any way. The duck breast was far overcooked - one bite in your mouth and it dissolved into meat paste - gross! The servers that evening seemed tentative and not fully seasoned in the art of fine dining service. But the tip of the iceberg to sink the ship was being charged $18 for a glass of pinot noir that we later found online to be purchased for an average of $21. We won't be back."

  • "This place is not for picky eaters, but if you can eat pretty much anything it has much to offer. Before I get to that, I must say that I'll never return simply because the parking is horrible (hard to find street parking and muddy when you do find it) and the price was obscene (two people with one who didn't drink and a 15% tip was $325). If that doesn't scare you off, then read on. This is a place I'd call more French than American based on the style of the food served. The evening we visited the choices were simply the 6 course dinner (which my wife selected) or the 9 course dinner (which I selected) - that's it. I did the wine pairing with mine and my wife just had one non-alcoholic drink. What came was pure food art and delicious."

  • "We went for Valentines day, thought it would be a good treat. However thought the food/experience was very overpriced and wouldn't recommend to others. There was far too much truffle in every dish and it really overpowered any of the other flavors. After awhile everything began to taste like butter. The service wasn't great either the waitress did not do a good job of describing the dishes and it didn't seem like she was interested. The ambience was pretty but I was placed right beside a vent."

  • "We have been fans of Crush since it opened. Our recent dining experience there was terrible. It wasn't busy but the service was slow and the time between courses way too long. We ordered multiple items from the menu. The portions were tiny, presentations fussy and the food was almost inedible or unmemorable yet very expensive. We went home and made grilled cheese sandwiches. We don't know if Jason is too busy with his new restaurant but the food and service at Crush are really struggling."

  • "Crush is in a lovely, small house on Madison, with understated, modern decor, making it a charming venue for a romantic date. The chef rules here; dishes are gorgeously presented, with unique, delicious, complex flavors. Sometimes I felt I was in a Portlandia episode, like when a beaker was lifted off a small dish to reveal a waft of special smoke--a bit over the top. Although I deplore the gargantuan portions at most American restaurants, here they are a bit too small. We enjoyed the three-course meal, for which one chooses a starter, an entree, and a dessert, and left not just "un-full" but actually still a bit hungry. The wine pairings were spot-on, and service was exceptional. The waitstaff were attentive, knowledgeable, and charming."

Service was pretty good, but considering we were one of the few tables in the restaurant, it could have been much better. The wine pairings they recommended for the various courses were all great. Overall though, I wouldn't come back here as the price for the quality of the food didn't seem to be quite good enough."

A third friend gave a lukewarm recommendation, describing it as a place you'd take your parents to dinner, a sentiment I totally agree with. It's hard to judge after just one visit, but my experience can be summed up as "nice, but not my style." The ambiance is sleek; I prefer warmer tones. The service is professional, frequent, and prompt, but not warm and fuzzy and bursting with energy. The noise level is a quiet, library-esque murmur. Loved the menu when I looked at it online. So many interesting ideas! Loved the sweetbread dish, as well as the bacon n eggs, but the others didn't hit the mark for me flavor-wise. Fortunately, the boyfriend loved all the dishes I didn't."

  • "Went to crush for Holiday dinner with my fiancé and her family. Food was absolutely amazing. There were a few timing glitches in service (30 min between course 3 & 4 and 20 min between course 4 and 5), but I wouldn't really count that against them considering there were 6 of us (and I'm an industry guy). Service was impeccable. Wine pairing were spot on. Well worth the price. I will return! And to those out there that don't know, Chef Wilson's new spot, Miller's Guild, just opened up and it is on the short list of have to's!"

There is no hearty dumping of sauce on top of everything but rather an exquisite attention to what is required, and no more. The service is also laid back yet perfectly timed. Lots of small treats inbetween each main dish makes one feel pampered and happy. The wine pairings were perfect. This is a real treat."

  • "We took visitors to Crush this summer because they like good solid American cuisine. We/they were not disappointed. Although in the past I have had some issue with server ''attitude'' and some over-salted dishes, everything was perfect. Beef and fish dishes alike were well-prepared, properly seasoned, and served hot. The chef had developed deep flavors with the beef and lamb. Service was attentive. We brought our own wine, so did not order off the list. For Sunday, an early dinner the room wasn't very noisy. It can be as there are no sound absorbing materials at all."

  • "Good things come in small packages.....this is definitely true at Crush. The restaurant is located on the main floor in a small house. It is charming on the outside and clean and crisp inside. The food is beyond creative. There were 4 in our group and we ordered across the board. We rated the "Bacon&Eggs" absolute #1..... And it's nothing like the name. The duck and lamb were also favorites. The Foi Gras not on the hit list On the desert menu the cheese board and mousse were winners. The food combinations are so amazing.....i The one disappointment was the wine list. Small and overpriced. Definitely a foodies haven."

  • "The location was good, if a little out of the way. The decor, etc., were very nice and appealing. The menu was interesting and exciting to read. The servers were very good, but the service was really slow. REALLY slow. Unacceptable. "We just got really busy." Really? Were they surprised on the Saturday night to be busy? If they keep this up they won't be busy. They'll be out of business. Three hours for a three course meal. The comped the wine but we didn't want that. We wanted prompt service. And for all that, the prices were too high. One tentacle of octopus and three pieces of pasta don't add up."
