A word from Crush Kitchen & Winehouse
Located on West Street in historic downtown Annapolis, Crush Kitchen & Winehouse offers an eclectic American menu served in a unique and casual atmosphere. High ceilings, exposed brick and a spiral staircase to nowhere are remnants of the buildings’ 80 years as a fire and rescue station, adding a sense of the unexpected to every meal. Chef Mike Morrone's culinary creations combine unconventional ingredients with traditional comfort foods - alligator sausage served with green chile coleslaw and shepard's pie made with bison and red wine. Finish your meal with a house-made dessert, updated seasonally and ranging from decadent chocolate cake to a summer fruit crisp. Whether you drop in on a Tuesday night or make us part of a special occasion, every visit to Crush Kitchen and Winehouse will be warm and welcoming, but always unique.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "This place has no noise damping at all with a concrete floor, stone tables and nothing on the walls. There were only a few people there with and one loud person at the other end of the place reverberated everywhere. It was a very good selection of wine but presentation was lacking. They have a very good and spicy alligator sausage but it does not go with wine. The flatbread was very good and so was the cheese but served with a basic cracker."

  • "This place was absolutely AWESOME! It is definitely a neighborhood gem. We traveled from over a hour away to get there and it was TOTALLY worth it! I look forward to sharing this experience w friends and returning back SOON! The food was plentiful and delicious, our server Matt was GREAT and the wine flights were well composed and flavorful."

  • "I enjoyed the food, but when I found what seemed to be an error on my receipt, I learned of a trick that the waiters play on the guests. My fiancé and I were looking at the wine, noticed that we could get drinks for $7, and with my finger on menu, he and I asked for a Pinot noir. Our bill came and we were charged $14 per glass. When we asked the waitress, she informed us that the $7 was for a 1/2 glass. I never said "I'd like a 'glass' of Pinot noir," I simply said I would have the Pinot noir. knowing that there is more than one option, the waitress should have asked for clarification, but instead she just brought us a drink and charged us double what we thought we were paying. And to make it worse, the 'full glass wasn't all that full'."

  • "When my party of 2 walked in, there were just a few people in the restaurant. We stood at the front while the 2 staffers walked by and looked in our direction but didn't greet us, which turned out to be a sign of things to come. Once we were finally seated, we literally waited almost 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us again. One staff member seemed pre occupied with a man and baby in the lounge area while the other was trying to wait on all guests. Soon after, more diners arrived, taxing the one staffer while the other seemed indifferent. Our waitress was good when she was around, but couldn't keep up by herself and seemed annoyed when we needed her attention. The food and wine were fine, but not worth feeling like we were a burden."

  • "Wanted to try something different.. headed out had an early reservation.. service was good, but no unsweet tea (just powder tea), no steak.. and pricey for the portion size. Food was good though.."

  • "The atmosphere of Crust Kitchen & Winehouse was great for our large group. We had a reservation so the table was ready for us - large groups probably need a reso was the space is cozy. Food was excellent - service was a bit slow. By no means were we in a hurry but we waited quite a bit of time between ordering and food/drink deliveries. Overall I'd recommend it - just give yourself time!"

  • "Disappointing on most levels. They were clearly busier than they expected to be, and the two employees on staff were working hard to deal with the guests. If you call yourself a Winehouse I would expect some degree of excitement in regard to the wines but there was none; wine flights were unceremoniously dumped off at the table and a red from my flight had been substituted with a glass of sparkling (?!) with no explanations, no suggestions. The mussels were perfectly cooked despite a rather lackluster sauce laying beneath them in the bowl. Flatbread was fine if uninspired, and the "blackened" (not) salmon entree was bland and boring. The lights were off in the dining room and the music varied from off to Top 40 to off again. Bizarre place."

  • "All of the food was good to excellent. On the downside we had flies buzzing around our table and food all night. This is not an open-air restaurant. The wine list can be described as bizarre. Despite the good food, we will not be back."

  • "Our group of four split 2 flights of wine. The INteresting Reds was superb. We also got a variety of appetizers. The alligator saugsage was a bit too salty, but the brushetta, mussels and charcuterie were spot on. Would definitely go back! The birthday girl got a sparkling glass of wine with a sparkler in it. Too fun. We sat outside on the patio area and the weather was perfect to watch people come and go."

  • "Tried it this week. We walk in and an art class going on filling the entire place, except for 4 tables. No 1 to seat/greet us, have no idea where to go/what to do. Very loud/noisey, not very pleassant. One review said that a party was going on when they went but the restaurant called and told them that in advance. The restaurant didn't call/email to tell me. We had reservation. The food was mediocre/over priced. The one thing my husband enjoyed was his glass of wine. The waitress, the only waitstaff, was the only other good thing about the place. She did everything and did it well/quickly esp., with the #of people there. Read the reviews, esp., the ones that rated the place poorly. We wanted to give the place tha chance, big mistake!"

  • "I had heard great things about this place and was exccited to finally get to try it. Unfortunately while my exerperience was fine, I don't think I'll be back. The restaurant was dead, and I was there at 8pm on a Saturday night. They were out of several food options that I had been looking forward to, and the staff was in plain site playing on their phones. It just did not live up to my expectations. I'm happy I tried it, and enjoyed my food, but I do not need to go back. "

  • "Nice place to have a good glass of wine. The ambiance is understated. The dinning room has an unpleasant smell, which is uninviting."

  • "We have visited Crush several times and enjoyed each visit. The wines are excellent (try a flight) and the food is always top class, with a menu that varies regularly."

  • "We tried this restaurant because we had a gift card. The food list was not extensive, but it is a wine restaurant. We had the crab dip for an appetizer, which was delicious. All food was served piping hot. Overall, a great experience. "

  • "Services and ambience are the foremost features of the restaurant. However the food is roughly 30% over-priced when considering comparables from other similar venues. Also they seemed to have dispensed with the customary bread "condiment" which is exceedingly difficult since their crowning glory are their sauces... which are outstanding!"

  • "I won a giftcertificate to Crush Kitchen from Bay Weekly. I had never heard of the restaurant, so I got on line to look at their menu. It looked like it had a menu that both my husband and I would enjoy. It took me three months to find the time to take advantage of the gift certificate. We were not disappointed. We started off with Orange Crushes (YUM!) and the bruschetta...VERY GOOD! For the entree my husband ordered the blackened salmon while I had medium seared sesame tuna. I can honestly say this was the best seared tuna I have ever had. Unfortunately we were so full we could not order dessert. This restaurant is one that you need to try!"

  • "We chose this restaurant for our romantic trip to Annapolis for our anniversary and it was a great choice! there was a party on inside but they phoned me ahead of time to make sure that it was ok with me, and it was such a lovely night that we ended up sitting outside anyway! They went above and beyond to make our evening special. the food was amazing and they have a wine float which is a wine tasting selection, which was a perfect addition to the meal and was something that we really enjoyed doing! The night couldn't have been more perfect - I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!!"

  • "My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Since we like to share portions, we splurged with a bottle of Malbec. Both the appetizer and main course were both cooked to perfection. We would definitely eat here again. As it was over Memorial Day weekend, we chose an early dinner hour @ 5:00 PM. I believe you must have reservations, as the greeter/ server asked everyone coming through the front door if they had one. Thank You Open Table."

  • "We simply love Crush Kitchen & Winehouse. Whenever we go no matter how busy it is we are always treated with friendliness and courtesy while enjoying some of the best food in Annapolis. Rush to Crush."

  • "As someone who appreciates a good wine bar or tapas restaurant, I was excited to finally visit Crush. Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was the smell of stale food (garlic with that acrid greasy smell that comes from cooked meat) lingering in the air. The place was quiet because there was no one there for dinner service. I was flummoxed by the menu which offered more American bistro fare than something Mediterranean. The waitress informed us that two of their most popular items, scallops and salmon were not available. What we ordered barely passed as delectable food befitting a special night out. The kitchen telegraphed "economic distress," showcasing a bland pre-made or store bought foods, liberally sprinkled with almond slivers."

  • "We came here for a mother's day lunch. I had just wanted to go somewhere we could get a reservation so we wouldn't end up waiting for a table. We made a reservation but this place was almost empty - only 2 or 3 other tables were occupied. Food was ok, but nothing special. My fish was cooked appropriately, but the accompanying rice was presented in a sticky mound that seemed like it had probably been sitting in a warmer for quite some time. My son's flatbread was probably the 'best' thing we had. I will say that the atmosphere is very nice, and I imagine if you are just looking for somewhere to hang out for some wine and don't care too much about great food, this could be an ok choice"

  • "a small group of gals met at the Crush Kitchen and we loved it! We were taken care of by a very knowledgeable server who recommended some fabulous wines and pairings for dinner. I will definitely return with my husband for a date night!"

  • "Decent little place in Annapolis. Very quiet on a Sunday night. Our server did a great job being attentive but not overly so, cinsidering we were one of only two tables in the place. The food was well executed though lacking in creativity."

  • " Had a wonderful time dining at Crash! Our server, Nicole, was amazing! She was about to recommend several delicious wines and helped us choose food that paired well. The four people in my group shared two appetizers, we each had an entree and a few glasses of wine. With a all that we had the bill was still reasonable. I will visit them again. "

  • "Nice looking cozy restaurant. The food here was bland and did not seemed to be cooked fresh. The waitress said they put the dishes in some sort of steamer. This was evident by EVERYTHING coming out of the kitchen smoking hot and the food having uneven temperatures throughout. My "blackened" salmon was covered in a bland sauce and raw in the middle. No blackened seasonings that I could taste. But the staff were friendly and VERY laid back. The waitress promptly removed the salmon from the bill. The wine was good. I would MAYBE only return to have a glass of wine but probably not. "

  • "We had a terrific dinner on Saturday night. The flatbreads were outstanding; I had the cured meat and my date had the crab and avocado. She let me try hers, and it was terrific. The wine flights were fun. "

  • "Went here on a Saturday afternoon with my gf. We were greeted/seated fairly quickly. We had a living social deal for a flight of wines, service wasn't the best. It was a quiet afternoon, not busy at all and the waitress was not very attentive at all. Got the wines, didn't really explain the wine types of anything. Overall mediocre experience and would probably only go back if have another deal, wines and flights are very expensive otherwise and again, the mediocre service was/is a deterrent for me. "

  • "10 of us gathered on a Friday night for a pre Maryland Hall concert and had a lovely light meal of appetizers, wine flights and good company. Our server was fabulous and kept everything coming, managed our varying needs and got us out the door with plenty of time to make the show. Well done."

  • "My husband and I came here with a Living Social deal for 2 flights of wine and 2 appetizers. It was a wonderful experience! The server took her time to learn our wine preferences so she could make suggestions accordingly. She was spot on! We shared the crab dip (delicious) and the alligator sausage (also delicious). We would definitely go back here."

  • "My husband and I had a small church ceremony before we get ready to go to OBX for our big wedding celebration in May and thought going to Annapolis for the night would be a perfect end to our (first) wedding day ;) I purchased a groupon around Christmas time for Crush Winehouse and thought this was the perfect occassion to use it. The atmosphere was awesome. The staff were very pleasant. The food was outstanding. The wine was good, would be nice to go back soon and try another category and another meal. Thanks for a wonderful experience!"

  • "I have heard great things about this restaurant, but there was a problem between opentable and their records, so we missed a chance to eat here. The staff was very kind and accommodating, but they had a big party and just could not squeeze us in. It would be a good idea to call and confirm reservations until they get this sorted out!"

  • ""Shrimp and chorizo pasta" Absolutely out of this world. We stopped in to Crush on our way around the city (We were visiting because we bought a house in Annapolis and wanted to see some of the 'digs'), and...in the span of 3 days we'd returned two more times after that. Mainly just for that pasta, man! INCREDIBLE! The brie is unbelievable, too, as was the service. The perky hostess with curly hair was SUPER helpful, as was the blonde hostess/server who turned into our exclusive bartender / recommender / sommelier / breadrunner / cheerleader for our entire stay. So professional, so helpful-- and that goes for everyone we encountered, all three times we were there that weekend :) We will ABSOLUTELY be back! You've won two new regulars!"

  • "I went to this wine bar on vacation several years old. Our good experience made me book a dinner reservation here this past weekend. Clearly, this place must have changed hands. The server, while sweet, was overwhelmed and slow. I asked about the type of cheese included in the meat and cheese plate - "cheddar. It's a cheddar. You know, like cheddar." "Yes, but where is it from," I asked, expecting as you see in most wine bars that the cheese meets the same standard as the wine and is referred to by farm. This was not the case. Still hopeful, we ordered a few small plates. These mimicked party trays you might find at a local grocery store. We left shortly thereafter and went to Red Red Wine down the street. A much better choice!"
