A word from Crown & Crumpet
Welcome to Crown & Crumpet, a stylish room with tea and wit, in Japantown in San Francisco. The delicious food and libations will transport you to a classic, traditional tea salon in England, but the stylish and vibrant décor tells you this is not a stuffy, Victoriana “ye olde tea shoppe.”

Built on the love and consumption of many cups of tea the world over, owners Amy and Christopher Dean invite you to slow down and enjoy the tea experience with friends, family or on your own. Forget about that cup of coffee and step inside the world of Crown & Crumpet, a spirited, delicious, and sometimes cheeky, room with a view, serving the world’s most popular drink — second only to water.

This was the first visit to the new location in Japan town. We had a wonderful time celebrating my daughter's 8th Birthday. The only downer was the new space doesn't have nearly as much charm as the previous Ghirardelli Square location. The food, service and experience is still top notch! We also enjoyed visiting the New People Store upstairs. We had a GREAT day!!

Alice had tea at this wonderland. Super cute spot for a girls Afternoon Tea. Complete with fun decor and wide selection of teas. They offer a gluten free selection of tea sandwiches, scone and crumpets. Along with a large pot of tea. At about $25 per person it's a great value. Staff is knowledgeable and very accommodating.

Having tea and lunch at Crown & Crumpet with my friends was a blast! The food was tasty, the macarons were fresh, and, of course, the tea was absolutely divine! I would most recommend going to this particular cafe when you want to unwind or find a cozy place in the bustling city. Having company along is fine as well, but a certain etiquette comes when being very courteous to those in the surrounding tables. But overall, I would definitely come back again very soon!

I've been a fan of Crown & Crumpet since they were at their previous location in Ghirardelli Square. Although the new store is much smaller, it still has everything I loved about the old one. Their teas and their food are both excellent. I live for their scones. I brought my parents along on this visit for the first time and they fell in love almost instantly. I really can't recommend C&C enough.

We love having tea time and we go every year to Victoria, Canada and have a fantastic tea time. We were visiting San Fran and wanted to find a nice place for tea time. We found the right spot! Crumpet and Crown is perfect for tea time. The service was very friendly and prompt! The food was so delicious and right up there with what we experience in Canada. The tea was delicious as well and we couldn't get enough! The only negative is that the location is kind of hidden. If I had not done research online I would have never found this gem! I hope they get a lease back in Ghiradelli Square because that would be a PRIME location! But until then I plan to spread the word!

We went for tea w my 7 yr old. They are located in a smaller spot since their tea room is being built in Union Square. From what I heard this is going to be a more casual tea spot. It's in a fairly unusual spot. It almost seems like a food court. But after settling into our table it seemed like we were transported to another place. The whole experience of a formal tea service was not only a nice treat for myself but my daughter. I recommend going for the tea. It's surprisingly filling and it was delicious. I am not a scone fan but there's were amazing. Our server only made one flub when we had to remind him about one thing we asked for but otherwise it was great. I can't wait until their larger place is open so we can get a true experience.

My daughters had been to their old location and had been raving about it. The new location is out if the way and not at all cozy. It was hot in there so it was hard to enjoy hot tea. Poor selection of tea and no gift shop. The food was good but not worth the effort it took to get there!

For my friends birthday party we reserved a table at C&C. We had a lovely experience. We were waited on nicely, the food was good and the tea was excellent. We can't wait to go back to their permanent location. The pop-up in Japantown is a bit unique and small, but we still had a lovely time. The only downside were the deserts, definitely not homemade or of a great quality. The experience was great and the place was adorable.

We had reservatons two months in advance, upon arrival were told the "children's tea" had wee pizzas, little hot dogs in dough etc., it came with one egg salad, one ham salad just as mine did???? We had to get up to get additional napkins (paper) after asking for them. There was no choise of sandwiches, it was what ever they made that day. We were told the children's menu as stated wasn't available because they weren't ready yet...we were right on time?? The food was tasty but having a choise is always nice because of allergies or just preferences.

went for lunch to use my gilt city coupon (which i had already tried to use on a weekend bc i failed to read the fine print, but was told i couldn't so had to return). got t a table across the room, not in the midst of the cuteness which was a little disappointing as there seemed the be space and we had a reservation. they were out of the marie antoinette tea which sounded so lovely, another slight disappointment. there was so much confusion when ordering, but eventually were told it would be a really long time for the pressed mozzarella sandwich that the voucher included and that we could have our scones first. fine. but then it took at least 45 minutes to get our sandwiches... the alice tea was lovely as were the biscuit-like scones.

Blink and Crown & Crumpet could pass you buy since the outside looks like a clothing store, but inside they transformed what looks like the lobby area into this welcoming space to have some afternoon tea. We tried their chai and chamomile tea, and both were refreshing. Their sandwiches and treats were so delicious, especially the one with bits of potato chips sprinkled in them. Highly recommend!

Visit this spot for a lovely break in your day. The place is charming with great food and an excellent selection of teas. They are in temporary quarters now (7/13), but it still feels special because it's an authentic high tea with a bit of whimsy in the decor. The owners are just delightful and will take good care of you.

It's a bit too cute and modern for my taste. It's a great place for kids. We had the Afternoon Tea and the scones and crumpets were delicious. I would pass up on the Tea Sandwiches. The tea needed more tea leaves. The services were excellent and she had an English accent too. I would definitely take my nieces here for tea.

I was a bit disappointed at our visit. Crown & Crumpet is well known in SF as the cutest and best high tea place around. I had an even higher expectation when they reopened in Japantown. But alas, the sandwiches were bland, scones were dry, crumpets hard, and pastries tasted half cooked. For $28 per person, I would expect good food. The tea we got was quite nice, the crownberry. It was fully aromatic and quite tasty! However, they did run out of 4 choices of tea from their menu.

I was the only man of fifteen patrons that afternoon. My wife and I had afternoon tea for two and it was delightful. The eats were great. The scone and lemon curd were amazing. We ordered a pot of "Alice Drink Me" black tea. It was great. Just be ready to be close to all kinds of women. We sat next to a three hundred pound woman as she talked to her heavier mother about the best vibrator shop in the Mission. Yum. I probably won't go back. Tea was great, but there is this anachronism of low tea in a modern art hub in Japantown.

We thoroughly enjoyed our High Tea complete with tea sandwiches, sweets, savories, scones and crumpets. We thought all of the food was excellent with a particular shout out to the scones (which can be dry, but in this case were not). Everyone had their own pot of their choice of tea, which we enjoyed passing around for tastes and comments. The venue was an interesting mash up of traditional British tea room and Japanese pop culture, complete with shops featuring Lolita street fashion. All in all, an excellent high tea at an excellent price.
