Diner Reviews
  • "We have eaten at House of Blues for lunch & dinner a number of times. The food is always good & there's a good variety so I can always find something different to order. The skillet cornbread is an appetizer we almost always start with because it is simply delicious! The burgers are great, shrimp & grits, street tacos, salads... everything is always good. We've always had good service & often eat there before attending a Rockets game as we can park in the area & walk to dinner as well as the game. The atmosphere is fun & vibrant and they have great concerts as well as an awesome Sunday brunch. We love it & will definitely be back!"

  • "We enjoyed having appetizers and drinks at Crossroads before the show- it was convenient, delicious, and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. I enjoyed my hurricane and checking out the art all over the place. The couple playing music while everyone ate was fantastic- we had a great time look forward to eating there again."

  • "Reservations were taken on short notice which worked out great for us. The wait staff was very courteous and helpful with suggestions on the menu. Overall our time at The Crossroads was great."

  • "I'm new to Texas, went to see Chromeo at HOB and decided to dine at Crossroads. I made an online reservation. The food & service was great, wonderful free entertainment during our meal. Had a great time and can't wait to come back. Also just to let you know I'm a very young 65 year old!"

  • "I ordered the mac & cheese and it was delicious. However, my mom ordered angus sliders, my dad ordered a burger and my boyfriend ordered the bacon wrapped meatloaf and it was not so good and way overpriced. The service took awhile and the musician playing the guitar added a lot of noise to the already noisy establishment. I was super glad I was able to get a reservation and seated so quickly, because we were running late to the concert that night. However the slow service and not so good, overpriced food was not worth it. Next time I will probably just order some chicken strips in the House of Blues at the bar. Sidenote: The drinks at the House of Blues are waaaaay overpriced. $20.00 for a mixed drink is ridiculous!"

  • "The food was great. I had the cobb salad which was outstanding. The table was a little wobbly but I fixed it with some sugar packets. The staff was very cordial. The table we sat at was right by the front so people were always walking by (noisy)."

  • "I was actually not very impressed with the food this visit. I have only eaten at the House of Blues one other time a few years ago and had a very delicious burger. However, this time I ordered the street tacos and just did not care for them. The chicken was a mix of white and dark meat, and I dislike dark meat very much. The chicken was also a very weird texture, which didn't seem normal for well cooked chicken. My boyfriend ordered the wings and complained about how salty they were, and he never complains about food. The fries I thought were not very potato-y at all either. For the price and the fact that the menu was designed by a celebrity chef, I was not impressed at all with this food."

  • "This was my first time to the HOB- Houston. I found the atmosphere to be fun, friendly, and lively. They had a DJ mixing music to keep the energy fresh and alive. The food was very good. You can tell that they take pride in the quality of the food and the presentation. We had a good time. Thank you."

  • "We have never cared for this type of restaurant, you know, like Planet Hollywood or The Hard Rock, but we were attending a performance there and decided what the heck. We arrived a little early for our reservation time,(which by the way, are highly recommended). We were seated immediately, and service began post haste. Our waitress, Jade, was very friendly, cordial and knowledgeable. Our food selections were big and tasty. Drinks during happy hour are very reasonable. Menu is extensive with something for everyone. A manager came by to check on us and our waitress showed just the right amount of attention. There was a live band, and unlike most other places, you could still carry on a conversation even when they were playing. Will return."

  • "The food was great but the staff at the House of Blues Houston (both Restaurant and Music Hall) is what made all the difference. I would highly recommend spending the evening here. The renovation construction nearby was a major turn off. Hopefully that will all be gone the next time we visit."

  • "Atmosphere was very upbeat - band was good (The Mulch Brothers from Nashville, TN). Waitress was very friendly and answered question about drinks and food. Service was timely but not overly intrusive. Recommended to friends/colleagues and will definitely visit again next time I'm in Houston."

  • "We had a delightful time and our waiter was so happy and really made our dinner more delightful then we had anticipated. The food was outrageously good. I tried the recommendation from the waiter and he was right on with his suggestion. I wish I could remember our waiter I would definitely request his area again. Everything about the house of blues was great the atmosphere, hostesses were great they sat us a nice table, thanks."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary there. The food was good, but our entrée showed up before our appetizer. When the server delivered our food we brought it to her attention, when the appetizer was delivered we were told it was "on the house"! That was not necessary but it was nice. The best part of our evening was listening to the band, Cadillac Blues Band. They were great!! I would go back just to see them play!! All in all, it was a great night!!"

  • "I love the house of blues. Always have. I love seeing bands play and always have a good time. Now, can I say that about Crossroads? Not particularly. We went for a date night, and weren't impressed. The house band was just a bunch of old guys playing old music (not hating, they were classics, but can we have someone a little nicer to look at?). The food was through the roof expensive and only tasted subpar. I got the pulled pork sand which and my fiancé got the jumbalaya, and we were both very disappointed. The drinks were okay, still very expensive, though. They definitely need to come down on their prices of everything, no doubt."

  • "Food was good but steak was undercooked. Had to send it back to get the steaks cooked more. Very busy restaurant but still a good experience."

  • "The location is great. The restaurant is superb ambiance. The service, however, left much to be desired. And the menu was not stellar."

  • "Menu sufficiently varied and creative. Group of 4 had Fish Street Tacos (messy but delicious), Steak Salad (lots of meat cooked to order), a burger (cooked to order), and Angus Sliders. Like the crispy fries presentation in cups. Group shared spinich artichoke dip w/pita chips; lots of spinich & artichokes & just enough cheese to hold it together. Pita chips were freshly fried. It's loud & music is playing constantly which is great for covering rowdy table conversation :-) Avoid sitting by the kitchen. That kicks up the noise level. The $$ online price rating is accurate, but the cocktails are closer to $$$ unless it's happy hour. Table for 4 is a little small unless you're just having drinks."

  • "We sat by the door on a night when it was 36 degrees and it was way too cold. Hostess sat another table across from the door and they asked to move too cold. Other than the cold temp, food and service was good. Hate to pay to park so will not go back. We were dropped off for a concert and picked up. Would have hated to wait in the rain for the valet that night. Super crowded. It's crazy they don't do the valet for the concerts on the other side under cover."

  • "It was the night before my birthday and we decided to celebrate my birthday early by taking in dinner and a concert. It was a great experience all the way around!"

  • "I had the lobster Mac and cheese. It was very good I would order it again. Prices I thought were high. The music was very loud and it was hard to hold a conversation with the person sitting across from me. Our waiter was fabulous. I wish that all customer service people were more like him. I also liked the fact that we got seated right away."

  • "This was my first visit to the House of Blues and it was enjoyable. The food was okay, although I may have enjoyed something else on the menu a little better. I would vist the House of Blues and Crossroads again."

  • "I knew we would enjoy the music, but wasn't so sure about the food, as we had never been before. But everything we had was delicious! We especially loved the homemade pickles and the triple chocolate cheesecake. Our waiter was super nice and quick to provide everything we requested. We had made reservations online and our table was ready as soon as we got there and in a prime location. The band was lively and sounded great! Awesome date night!"

  • "Was there for an early dinner prior to Blue Octobers concert, dinner was great. Service was great, the "Foundation Room" is the only way for me to roll @ your house , that always takes my Blues away! I'm looking forward to the next time. Fn2chillathoblues"

  • "The ambience is nice, warm, and comfortable. The waitstaff was very friendly; however, somewhat disoriented at the very beginning. It ended up being just fine though. The food was very good. Very pleasant evening."

  • "If you want to have good food and live music, this is the place to go ONLY if it is crowded and you don't want to talk. We were there on a slow night and the band, while pretty good, did not realize (or care) that only 6 people were in the place at that time (around 7:00 p.m.). The sound man decided that louder was better, and it was not. Otherwise it was a terrific place to eat and the wait staff was very good as well."

  • "My only feedback for improvement would be that our server needed to be more on top of our drinks order. We had a night off from the kids and were ready to drink ......and would have spent much more on our bar tab if our server was a bit more responsive. It was 5pm and neither the bar nor the restaurant were busy so..........??? Also - my boyfriend was mildly insulted when he noticed that on the bottom of our bill were three different gratuity "suggestions" - all of which had been not only circled, but "checked" by our server. We really enjoy the "pass the line" privilege but next time will probably dine somewhere else and spend the requisite $20 in the gift shop to get this....."
