A word from Crossings
Crossings restaurant is located in the beautiful historic Edwards and Faw building on Mission St. in South Pasadena. The building was originally built in 1908. Crossings utilized the beautiful brick and mortar structure to inspire a classic American restaurant space. The downstairs dining room encompasses a fully open kitchen and 14 foot ceilings. A patio under a 100 year old oak sits right next to the Metro Gold Line, providing a truly urban space not easily found in LA. A wine loft sits between the first and second floors, offering a wide variety of wines to choose from. The second floor offers a full bar as well as raised booths and tables overlooking Mission St.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "What a great new addition to the San Gabriel Valley restaurant scene. The owners spent nearly a year preparing the space and it was well worth the wait. We sat on the back patio and while next to the Gold Line trolley, after the first two trains passed by the regular passages became part of the ambiance and actually added to the experience. The patio could use a little better lighting, and the layout up, down and around corners perhaps is a little ungainly, but aside from these two nits, the place is almost perfect. We all had various fish dishes and each one was amazing from the presentation to the taste. The dishes were cooked to perfection. The menu is extensive and there's something for everyone, from vegetarians to meat eaters."

  • "We were there celebrating mom's birthday. Food was amazing and service was great. They even prepared a gift for mom at the end of the meal. Very good experience. We will definitely go back"

  • "My wife and I have been here several times and enjoyed each occasion. The food is very well prepared and the service is great. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys great food at a reasonable cost."

  • "Everyone can get to this place--it is across the street from the Gold Line station, and there is also ample short-term parking near by for drivers. Service was very good. Food is good. The menu is a bit too over-the-top for me (too many complicated elements), but it was executed well."

  • "We really enjoy going to Crossings its a very nice place to meet friends and have a good meal, the staff is very friendly the bar scene is great, the food has lost a little of that quality and flavor, my wife and I split the pork chop which was very good our friends had the New York which was very hard to chew, a lot of fat in the meat, over all the food was good"

  • "Crossings goes above and beyond to make your dinner experience one to remember. The food was delicious and exquisitely prepared. Our server was both helpful, and enthusiastic about this new restaurant that has been open for just a little over four months. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the food, drinks, and ambience created with the collection of antique pieces which were tastefully arranged around the historic building. The space has a lot of seasoned character with the old brick walls, dark wood furnishings, and 150 year old oak tree that hovers in the back patio. This place was established care and detail. The staff is very generous, accommodating, and excited to share this little gem in South Pasadena. I'm looking forward to returning."

  • "I was reluctant to go-heard mixed reviews but tried and was pleased. I would go again and sit at bar and eat the glazed pear salad every time. More vegetarian dishes/salads would be great. The interior was impressive - I love the building and the designers kept the bones and beauty and added the right touches."

  • "Dinner at Crossings was the perfect way to end a beautiful afternoon at Disney Hall. Chris Sweeney made our dinner a true 'event', recommending wonderful selections, so that we each ordered something different, nd together enjoyed a kind of smorgasbord. The BLT salad...with spinach instead of iceberg lettuce...was fabulous, as was the swordfish...the best my husband and I have EVER had. The ambiance of old South Pasadena and Mission Street added to what was truly a memorable experience. We shall return."

  • "I couldn't believe that the place existed so close to me and yet I never knew about it. Thanks to OpenTable recommendation I found it and will return for great food, amazing wine selection, and great service."

  • "The food was good (not great), but very solid......our waiter was nice, but more or less, the restaurant (even from the call I got to confirm the reservation on a week night at 6PM) had an attitude of "snootiness" and "pretension"......would recommend to friends or business associates who want to have a "wanna be" experience and would not say "no" if someone wants to go there - but not somewhere we would choose to frequent. Also, the music eclectic - but a bit distracting."

  • "Very elegant restaurant in hip South Pasadena. Food and service were superb."

  • "Superb food and service. Second floor noise level too loud 2/2 low ceiling and poor acoustic absorption. Excellent, unique wine list with substantial drinks"

  • "A great addition to the local restaurant scene. It"s one of the top restaurants in the greater Pasadena area, and our number one favorite."

  • "Crossings is set to become our favorite local restaurant. Four of us had varied entree choices; upscale surf & turf burger, filet, faro, black cod and all were delicious. Crossings has very refined but not overly precious food, but in a relaxed atmosphere with impeccable service."

  • "Found our new favorite restaurant. Food was original and delicious; tables were spread apart so you weren't on top of fellow diners; service was warm and professional. We'll be returning frequently."

  • "Crossings in a few short months, has established itself as a wonderful restaurant within the Pasadena environs. Try it, it is a treat. Beatifully restored location with great food, good service and attention to detail. Eat upstairs if you can."

  • "After passing by Crossings several times and seeing a modern space and white table cloths, I finally dined there. I was pleasantly surprised. The food is very good. All of the ingrendients are fresh, and seem to reflect what was at the South Pasadena Farmer's Market that week. The lamb was perfectly prepared, though the cut was a bit fatty. Of course, I'd rather have moist and fat over lean and dry any day of the week. Some of the sauces were a bit salty and overpowering. Desserts were large enough to share and not too sweet. Our group brought wine; we never looked at their selection. Corkage is a very reasonable $15 and the stemware is great. We will be return and we will bring friends."

  • "overall a good experience, the food was good, not great. we ordered and shared a caesar salad and ox-tail sliders, and we were glad for the salad which was robust in flavor as the sliders were lacking flavor. our main dishes were black cod and filet, both of which were prepared well but should have been more flavorful. We spent over $150, excluding a corkage fee( $15.00), tax and tip, as such we should have had a GREAT meal. E for effort, we may want to try another time in the future."

  • "Our family of 4 tried Crossings for the first time and all we're pleased with the experience. The setting feels intimate and the food and service were a cut above. We sampled the lamb, filet mignon, hamburger and chicken and all we're very good. The Market Salad was also very nice. We will definitely return."

  • "Cool and stylish atmosphere with the open kitchen and a wine cellar above it. Had Oysters "Rockefeller" and Champagne to start. Amazing combination. As an Entrée we had a Swordfish which was to die for, super juicy and tasty. The Chicken was perfectly cooked and had herbs under the skin which made it taste out of this world. Thanks to Patrick and Team, we had a great evening. We will be back soon."

  • "South Pasadena has a new neighborhood gem. The menu is fantastic and the service is even better. San Marino, South Pasadena and Pasadena should all turn out to support this great new place. I already have sent a few friends to Crossings and they all agree that Crossings is a most welcome addition to the local and newly inspired restaurant scene in the area. Ask for Christopher. He is an old school waiter who makes every meal an occasion."

  • "Crossings excels on every level. Crossings is in a vintage two-story building in South Pasadena's trendy, historic district, filled w/ cafes, restaurants, antique stores and gift shops. It has a lovely patio in back shaded by a huge oak true w/ lovely hanging lanterns. The decor is sumptuous and upscale without being stuffy. The cuisine is exquisite and adventurous without being inscrutable or off-putting. The service is practically beyond compare. They show uncommon courtesy and dedication to ensuring customers and truly exceptional experience. Not an inexpensive restaurant, but fully worth it, and great for special occasion dining."

  • "The overall ambiance is great, upstairs by the window is very nice. We did find that the food (chicken and steak) was good, but could have been better. The chicken, while having Jamaican spices was not as flavorful as hoped. But, it's an active place, very nice bar upstairs."

  • "Dinner with our friends on Sunday night was quite busy for a neighborhood restaurant. Food is quite good. good size portion. food is served hot. chief complaint is our table upstair was next to the bar. quite noisy. waiter was too soft spoken. can barely hear him. requested bread, which came after apertizer. butter / margarine show up with the main course after reuesting 3 times. hopefully, this is just an oversight of the waiter."

  • "This restaurant has a wonderful ambience about it from the moment you step in the door. There is an upstairs dining area that is lovely. The menu is very creative, most everything is fresh and very good in quality. Every effort is made to see that your dining experience is a magical one. Corkage fee is $15, but it is waved if you order a bottle of wine off their menu, which we did. It was a superb wine for $40! We will definitely be back."
