Diner Reviews
  • "Everything is always amazing. We have never had bad food or a bad experience at crop. I highly recommend."

  • "We had another wonderful dinner here and introduced it to our eastsider friend. Love dining in the lofty, elegant former bank lobby. What a jewel! I am always eager to see what Crop has done with seasonal vegetables and fruits and they did not disappoint. My fresh corn and cheese ravioli was smothered with shrimp, fresh corn and green beans. The sauce was too good to leave. I asked for a spoon! Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the cocktails. We asked to see the Vault Room and were given a tour and some history of the building. Overall another wonderful evening."

  • "First visit back to CROP since their move to the present location within an old bank. Nice spacious almost cavernous area. Large painting on one wall was impressive. Friendly attentive staff. Food was excellent. Went with a group of 5 guys where we take turns hosting a dinner outing. All were pleased with the food and I was lauded with my choice of venue several times. Would easily come back again. Actually plan on coming back with just my wife so she can try the place. I actually may bring my family of 6 here altho doubt they will have a kids meal for my two little guys."

  • "I had a bad experience at Crop six months ago: poor service, improperly prepared foods, lack of attention to our concerns and complaints. Despite their reputation, I was upset and have boycotted Crop since then. I decided to give them another try with a business dinner and am happy to report that they are back on my list. Summer corn ravioli after the famous "Cherry Bomb" was outstanding. Service was excellent and wine list reasonable. Glad to be back."

  • "Loved the food, service, and building, but the noise makes it almost impossible to have any meaningful conversation. Come prepared to have a wonderful meal with shouting."

  • "Let me begin by saying that this is one of the most beautiful restaurants I've been to. The ornate highly vaulted ceiling and other period details took my breath away in the setting sunlight. We were promptly seated and attended to for cocktails and wine. The calamari fritti we ordered was wonderful - lightly browned and tender & nicely seasoned. Our dinners, however, left me a little disappointed. I ordered the grilled pork chops. Sadly they were overdone and dry. I couldn't finish it. My wife's selection, the Korean bbq spare rib, was much better, but the meat again was somewhat dry and stringy. The only thing that saved it was the awesome barbecue sauce and the tasty kim chee (sp?). Neither of us ordered dessert."

  • "The menu changes frequently and is hit / miss throughout the year. It was great when we visited. Check the menu on their website before heading there"

  • "I recommend the scallops appetizer and salmon on polenta entree. They were both amazing- fresh ingredients, good combination of tasteful veggies, etc."

  • "The restaurant is located near the historic Westside Market making for a great afternoon of produce shopping and great food. We were greeted by energetic door staff and a friendly hostess. We were seated in the upper level making for a nice view of the street and surrounding neighborhood. For a Wednesday evening, the restaurant was busy! Our waitress was prompt and friendly and could answer all of our questions regarding the food. My wife and I started by ordering the roasted beet salad.....delicious!! Then, my wife ordered the salmon and I ordered the grilled pork paillard. Both were excellent and came with delicious sides. Definitely would recommend this restaurant as a departure from the ordinary steak and potatoes!!"

  • "Crop Bistro never disappoints us. We started with the balsamic popcorn which is fabulous. A couple of us ordered the short ribs which were outstanding - very generous portion size. Desserts are to die for! The cocktail menu is one of our favorite parts of Crop Bistro. The drinks are original and delicious. The bar staff is always awesome - love to watch them work!"

  • "Foie Gras in Cleveland? Yes, Cleveland, here. And it's not just here. It's great here. Our waiter, BJ was a young, hip, but seasoned professional that knew to ask if we have ever had foie gras before, and knew how to prep the diner appropriately for something so unique, without coming off as condescending. The whole experience, much like our server, was the perfect blend of modern yet classic. Set in an outstandingly ornate old bank building the noise at times can be a little loud, but you'll soon forget you even have the sense of hearing when all of your other senses are inundated with the splendor of fat, salt, and alcohol. If you leave here in anything other than a legal high, you didn't do it right."

  • "I am always glad to see historical gems saved and repurposed. Great location, service, ambience and food. Noise level is high but the place and food more makes up for it."

  • "Everything about the place is incredidble. Service, food, atmosphere. Won't find anything else like it. 5/5 stars."

  • "I hate writing reviews cause it feels like I'm complaining. After 3 times eating here, all I can say is I'm not impressed. Maybe I'm spoiled having an exec chef as a friend but it just seems that the quality of food and prep just left me wanting more. Again, nothing terrible but nothing special either."

  • "This was our 3rd trip to Crop Bistro. 2 dinners and 1 lunch. I t is wide open old bank and can be y but the inside is beautiful. Service is really good and friendly. Lunch was subperb and our 1st dinner was one of our best ever which is why we came back again. Dinner this time was not as fab. The pork bellies were a little too firm for my taste and the Short Ribs were a bit dry but overall it was still very good. My wife had foie gras which was delicious and her walleye was super. Wouold still go back and I recommend it for all. Expect a good size check especially if you have wine and cocktails. Valet parking is available which helps."

  • "service seems stilled into some weird pattern - the hostess didn't give us menus, we got a strange look when we asked. I suppose the waiter was to deliver them to us with commentary. It just went on from there. Food is good, but, as with everything, they seem to be trying too hard. too many ingredients, with preparation exceeding their skills. If they'd relax they'd do a lot better all around. Real class means you don't notice, not that there's some show being put on for you."

  • "We ate at Crop Bistro and I was immediately caught up in the ambience - it's in an old bank building and much of the original elements of the bank are still there. Be sure to check out the vault and the ceiling! The menu was interesting in a good way and I ended up enjoying combinations that I would not normally consider. So, I do recommend the short ribs. If you are on the Westside, near the Westside Market, check out Crop Bistro."

  • "My wife and I had dinner here while we were in Cleveland to visit the RocknRoll HOF. This restaurant is a must-see. The coffered ceilings are so detailed and the marble throughout adds luxury to the dining experience. The food was impeccable and the service was solid. The kitchen had a bit of a problem which delayed my meal. The staff was very apologetic and comped us the entree and a dessert. If we ever make it back to town, we will absolutely eat here again."

  • "The best mofongo I have ever had. We celebrated my brother's 50th birthday and had a terrific time. The service was great and the food was outstanding."

  • "Our first visit to Crop was a leisurely lunch to see what all the talk about Crop was. The food was outstanding - the Mediterranean flatbed got our meal off to a great start. The place was not very busy, so we just took our time and spent close to two hours over lunch. The service was attentive but not invasive, and the recommendations were spot on. We absolutely will be returning."

  • "The wow factor begins with the internal architecture which is stunning. The service was of a high standard and all items of food appeared promptly but with an adequate interval that one did not feel rushed. Each dish looked amazing and tasted just as good as it appeared. Not a disappointing item was tasted by myself or my girlfriend throughout the evening. Our particular favourites were the Cherry bomb, Crispy pork belly, Mojo short ribs and the Cheesecake. We would strongly recommend the restaurant to our friends and will definitely return. Having moved back to the US from Europe, this restaurant is knocking on the door of a Michelin star."

  • "I took my nephew who is moving to Sweden here for a bon voyage dinner. I wanted something really special and Crop Bistro delivered. He knows food, so I was under the gun to pick a spot that he would enjoy. After comparing menus from all over town, I decided on Crop. We ordered appetizers, entrees, dessert and a bottle of primo vino. Everything that was set before us was perfect. It was a beautiful, inventive, nuanced meal in a classic yet contemporary setting. The desserts were so stunning, I almost took my first picture ever of a plate of food! And they were delicious, light and refreshing with unexpected flavor pairings. I recommend Crop Bistro if you're looking for a refined, understated, and completely satisfying dining experience."

  • "One of the tastiest we've had! We were surprised that the tasting portions were so large (not that we're complaining)! Sat at the Chef's counter. Attentive staff! Almost ninja-like: right there before you ever had to look! Every need addressed and taken care of before you thought about it! EXCELLENT all the way around!"

  • "Best restaurant I've ever been to, it was really cool to see Chef/Owner Steve Schimoler working hard in the kitchen as well, the food was absolutely fresh and delicious and the decor of the dining area was outstanding. I will be back here many times in the future."

  • "This is at least our 6th time at Crop. We live a 1/2 hour away. The food, as usual, is outstanding. Our waitress did a nice job. However, the noise level gets worse and worse. There must be something available to deaden the sound. When you can't talk to the person next to you, that is NOT good!!!!!! We keep hoping that something will change, but not so. I would recommend Crop, but state if you are looking for a moderate noise level, it isn't at Crop. Sorry ........."

  • "I was in town from Miami, and one of the things I had to do while in Cleveland was eat at Crop. I wasn't disappointed. The only downside- my boyfriend is now asking for honey pepper butter on everything! Great job. Everything was delicious."

  • "We decided to experience more fine-dining options while in Cleveland this Summer. Because of reading reviews, Crop Bistro was our first choice. We tried the six-course tasting menu and were extremely pleased with the food and service. What a great location for this restaurant ... absolutely stunning décor. We will be sure to stop in again before we return to the Southwest in the Fall."

  • "As always, the food at Crop is delicious and unique. I've gone multiple times so generally the service is good but the most recent occasion the server was terrible. This took away from the quality of the experience but I would still go back because of the menu."

  • "We enjoyed the Crop Bistro very much. We were there to check it out for a family event in October. Everything from the drinks to the appetizers to the meal itself was excellent. The four of us had different meals and all were exceptional. We look forward to having our event there. The history of the bank was another draw for our event!"

  • "Our server was a bit too dude for me & should have offered the specials to begin with instead we had to ask. With that, all the other wait staff were very courteous & prompt. Food was to die for! Could have been more seafood options. Decent wine & cheese selection. If you go, the building is the highlight next to the food itself. I mean a 1920s bank restored to its original condition is just breathtaking!"

  • "Great mixed drink creations. Very good wine by the glass choices. Excellent appetizers, including calamari and pork belly. Not crazy about my scallop entree... Especially when on my very first bite I crunched on sand. The salmon and short ribs that other got were delicious. Service was excellent. Definitely will return."

  • "Brought an out of town guest visiting from Chicago for dinner and had the best overall experience. It was my first time at the restaurant and from the moment we walked into the door though the entire meal it was a wonderful experience. The dining room is beautiful. The food was amazing, especially the Dancing in the Dark dessert. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I will highly recommend to others looking for a unique dining experience."

  • "Excellent and attentive, but not intrusive service, and the wonderfully prepared fresh food made for a lovely evening. The restaurant is a stunning space, with its nod to the rich history of Cleveland architecture. All of this makes for an overall wonderful experience. Our bartender Tim and our server Pete were fantastic."

  • "My wife and I visited Crop Bistro for our 10th wedding anniversary. The food was wonderful (even exceeding my expectations) and the service was attentive and kind. We loved the ambiance of the room. I read reviews that the the room was loud. However, we sat in the elevated, carpeted section and found the noise level to be just fine. It was definitely a great dining experience. I have already recommended Crop to friends."
