Diner Reviews
  • "The gorgeous refurbished bank building setting at Crop Bistro wouldn't mean much if the food wasn't superb. Luckily, the food is beyond superb."

  • "All of our 4 meals were wonderful from the pork chop to the salmon. Very nice portions and done to perfections. Delightful experience"

  • "We went for my mother-in-law's birthday. It was great! Everyone LOVED their food. And our waiter, Pete, was absolutely wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone. It's also great for lunch. I've gone a few times with coworkers. The brisket mac and cheese is amazing!"

  • "Waiter, Isaac, was great. It was a late lunch, so the place was relatively empty. I liked my husband's scallops more than my signature burger, but the rest of the menu looked really interesting. Cocktails were very creative and of the season. Tour of the vault was very interesting and you get to go through the prep kitchen which smelled great!"

  • "Excellent food and always new menu items....Beautiful building, can be noisy, always busy."

  • "After seeing the two recent "foodie" movies, Chef and 100 Foot Walk we needed to have a dining experience of wonderful tastes and beautiful presentations in a lovely setting. Crop Bistro fit the bill perfectly. It was one of the best dinners we've had this summer. The servers were friendly and professional. Thank you."

  • "Ohio City is has a vibrant, urban scene. Crop was definitely more "stuffy" than the other restaurants and bars in the immediate area. The service was good and the architecture was unique and beautiful. If you are looking for a trendy hot spot, I would look elsewhere. We had a glass of wine and a salad and then opted to finish dinner at a different restaurant in the area."

  • "Great food and wonderful service. Rarely have the four of us agreed on outstanding experience."

  • "Crop was the best meal we ate in Cleveland. We were lucky enough to try another more notable restaurant owned by a celebrity chef along the same food theme and Crop blew it away. This is the best fresh ingredient farm to table restaurant in the city. We had pork belly, perfectly prepared; deviled eggs; the rack of lamb was perfect!; the chicken and waffles- what a treat; the corn and bean ravioli with shrimp - wow. Everything was prepared to perfection. This is prettier and better than similar restaurants in town -- worth the cab fare to Ohio City. Here the chef is at the restaurant, not out promoting himself."

  • "Liked Crop Bistro when it was located on W.6th St. so we thought we'd try out their new location on Lorain Ave., across from the West Side Market. Relocated to a renovated 1925 landmark art deco bank building with 60 foot tall gilt engraved ceilings, marble columns and giant classical murals surrounded by stone. The grandiosity of the building is only surpassed by the artfulness of the cuisine. I ordered the fried chicken on waffles with a chorizo gravy and spicy spinach and pineapple side. After having a bite, my wife kept on saying how the chef used lemon zest in the waffles. She ordered a huge pork chop & chipotle side. Chocolate ice cream on fudge brownie with marshmallow fluff and caramelized pecans topped the evening. Fantastic."

  • "Took an out of town friend to dinner on a Tuesday night. Had a great 2 1/2 hour dinner. Very relaxing and the service was super!"

  • "Crop is always great. Service outstanding, all meals are very good to excellent. Only downside is that menu is very meat heavy, one fish choice and only chicken choice was fried. It is loud, but not distracting. But otherwise everything is top notch."

  • "We visited Crop for my new Husbands Birthday on our Mini-Honeymoon. We received complimentary champagne upon being seated, our waiter was incredibly helpful with menu selections and everything was incredibly delicious! We will definitively be telling all our family and friends, and will come back the next time we are in Cleveland!"

  • "Outstanding food and cocktails. Service could be much better for a 4-5 star place. Our waiter only seemed interested in turning our table as quickly as possible. Beautiful plate presentation and variety of selections. Bar service was top notch."

  • "We visited Crop Bistro last Saturday, and was initially impressed by the interior. Located in an old bank building, diagonally across from the West side market in an up and coming area for restaurants and bars. The entrance is on Lorain, and is well marked. Valet is available. The wine list is a little pricy, but probably commensurate with the food pricing. My wife and I got the Gazpacho and it was wonderful. We also got an cheese plate appy that had very interesting cheeses and accompaniments. All of our main courses were well prepared, and very very good. The veal chop was to die for..... Noise level is very high, which does make for difficult conversation, and there was a bit of a wait for our meal, but worth it."

  • "Not only is the service and food terrific, but they always make an effort to honor my request for a table that is in a quieter part of the restaurant. I appreciate that almost as much I do their food and service. We go there often and will continue to do so."

  • "The location itself was spectacular - then the addition of phenomenal food: we had 4 different meals, each one unique and superb."

  • "Our dining experience was very good. The food and service were excellent! The dining room is beautiful but the ceiling height causes it to be very noisy! We especially love the trufle popcorn and the cherry bomb appetizers."

  • "The waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and the wines. Made recommendations for us and it was very good!"

  • "The huge space in this restaurant and its pleasant decor are noteworthy. The food was good, especially the Korean BBQ ribs with kimchee, but my companion ordered a panzanella that was doused in Thousand Island dressing (too weird) and she did not like it. In spite of the huge space and the far distance between our table and the kitchen, we came out of the place reeking of kitchen smell. I did not appreciate that. However, the waitstaff were solicitous, prompt, and very kwoledgeable. The food was very good, and the beer selection with many local options very decent. I would recommend the deviled eggs for appetizer. In fact, we regret not having ordered more appetizers and have made a meal out of them; they all looked very interesting."

  • "We have always had wonderful meals at Crop until last Saturday, july 26. Our reservation was for 7:30 and they had ran out of the walleye special that one our guests had his heart set on. The veal chop that was ordered by another guest was good but sauced skimpily. Definitely not our usual Crop experience. Our server was great."

  • "We had another wonderful dinner here and introduced it to our eastsider friend. Love dining in the lofty, elegant former bank lobby. What a jewel! I am always eager to see what Crop has done with seasonal vegetables and fruits and they did not disappoint. My fresh corn and cheese ravioli was smothered with shrimp, fresh corn and green beans. The sauce was too good to leave. I asked for a spoon! Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the cocktails. We asked to see the Vault Room and were given a tour and some history of the building. Overall another wonderful evening."

  • "First visit back to CROP since their move to the present location within an old bank. Nice spacious almost cavernous area. Large painting on one wall was impressive. Friendly attentive staff. Food was excellent. Went with a group of 5 guys where we take turns hosting a dinner outing. All were pleased with the food and I was lauded with my choice of venue several times. Would easily come back again. Actually plan on coming back with just my wife so she can try the place. I actually may bring my family of 6 here altho doubt they will have a kids meal for my two little guys."

  • "I had a bad experience at Crop six months ago: poor service, improperly prepared foods, lack of attention to our concerns and complaints. Despite their reputation, I was upset and have boycotted Crop since then. I decided to give them another try with a business dinner and am happy to report that they are back on my list. Summer corn ravioli after the famous "Cherry Bomb" was outstanding. Service was excellent and wine list reasonable. Glad to be back."

  • "Loved the food, service, and building, but the noise makes it almost impossible to have any meaningful conversation. Come prepared to have a wonderful meal with shouting."

  • "Let me begin by saying that this is one of the most beautiful restaurants I've been to. The ornate highly vaulted ceiling and other period details took my breath away in the setting sunlight. We were promptly seated and attended to for cocktails and wine. The calamari fritti we ordered was wonderful - lightly browned and tender & nicely seasoned. Our dinners, however, left me a little disappointed. I ordered the grilled pork chops. Sadly they were overdone and dry. I couldn't finish it. My wife's selection, the Korean bbq spare rib, was much better, but the meat again was somewhat dry and stringy. The only thing that saved it was the awesome barbecue sauce and the tasty kim chee (sp?). Neither of us ordered dessert."

  • "I recommend the scallops appetizer and salmon on polenta entree. They were both amazing- fresh ingredients, good combination of tasteful veggies, etc."

  • "The restaurant is located near the historic Westside Market making for a great afternoon of produce shopping and great food. We were greeted by energetic door staff and a friendly hostess. We were seated in the upper level making for a nice view of the street and surrounding neighborhood. For a Wednesday evening, the restaurant was busy! Our waitress was prompt and friendly and could answer all of our questions regarding the food. My wife and I started by ordering the roasted beet salad.....delicious!! Then, my wife ordered the salmon and I ordered the grilled pork paillard. Both were excellent and came with delicious sides. Definitely would recommend this restaurant as a departure from the ordinary steak and potatoes!!"

  • "Crop Bistro never disappoints us. We started with the balsamic popcorn which is fabulous. A couple of us ordered the short ribs which were outstanding - very generous portion size. Desserts are to die for! The cocktail menu is one of our favorite parts of Crop Bistro. The drinks are original and delicious. The bar staff is always awesome - love to watch them work!"

  • "Foie Gras in Cleveland? Yes, Cleveland, here. And it's not just here. It's great here. Our waiter, BJ was a young, hip, but seasoned professional that knew to ask if we have ever had foie gras before, and knew how to prep the diner appropriately for something so unique, without coming off as condescending. The whole experience, much like our server, was the perfect blend of modern yet classic. Set in an outstandingly ornate old bank building the noise at times can be a little loud, but you'll soon forget you even have the sense of hearing when all of your other senses are inundated with the splendor of fat, salt, and alcohol. If you leave here in anything other than a legal high, you didn't do it right."

  • "I hate writing reviews cause it feels like I'm complaining. After 3 times eating here, all I can say is I'm not impressed. Maybe I'm spoiled having an exec chef as a friend but it just seems that the quality of food and prep just left me wanting more. Again, nothing terrible but nothing special either."

  • "This was our 3rd trip to Crop Bistro. 2 dinners and 1 lunch. I t is wide open old bank and can be y but the inside is beautiful. Service is really good and friendly. Lunch was subperb and our 1st dinner was one of our best ever which is why we came back again. Dinner this time was not as fab. The pork bellies were a little too firm for my taste and the Short Ribs were a bit dry but overall it was still very good. My wife had foie gras which was delicious and her walleye was super. Wouold still go back and I recommend it for all. Expect a good size check especially if you have wine and cocktails. Valet parking is available which helps."

  • "service seems stilled into some weird pattern - the hostess didn't give us menus, we got a strange look when we asked. I suppose the waiter was to deliver them to us with commentary. It just went on from there. Food is good, but, as with everything, they seem to be trying too hard. too many ingredients, with preparation exceeding their skills. If they'd relax they'd do a lot better all around. Real class means you don't notice, not that there's some show being put on for you."
