A word from Crispo
Chef and owner Frank Crispo opened Crispo Restaurant in the heart of Chelsea and the West Village in the summer of 2002.

Our 150 seats create a lively, warm and friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy our signature Northern Italian cuisine.

We were nominated in 2002 for "Best New Restaurant" by Time Out magazine, and received an award for "Best Spaghetti Carbonara" by New York Magazine in 2004.

Food is not our only passion. Our extensive wine list covers the major regions of Italy and several other countries beyond. For enthusiasts, we have a full bar stocked with grappa, amaros, aperitifs and digestifs.

Come join us for dinner in our main dining room, or in our outdoor garden space. It remains open year long. With this newest addition to Crispo Restaurant you will truly feel like you are not in New York.

  • "I hadn't been back since it opened over 10 years ago..but I was glad I did go. The food was outstanding--great grilled octopus, salads, fettucine bolognese, ravioli with spinach and short rib, a wild striped bass special that was juicy and tasted just enough of the barbecue grill.Even the kale was delicious. My only beef is how close the tables are to each other and how loud it gets, both in the front room and the garden room."

  • "I loved this resutaurant. It is the perfect spot to get deliciious Italian food that isn't overpriced, in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. The black truffle ravioli was a delicious dish. Brussel sprouts are a favorite of mine, and these did not disappoint. The waitstaff was friendly; helpful and knowledgable. The service was flawless. I was seated as soon as I arrived, in the outdoor space as I had requested. I am looking forward to returning when the weather is warmer and the space is able to be completely open. The bar was lively all night and I will certainly be back to enjoy a cocktail there in the future!"

  • "This was my third visit to Crispo. The food is consistently excellent and the staff friendly. My one disappointment was the clear indications of being rushed through the meal. I was with a friend whom I hadn't seen in quite a while and was looking forward to catching up. But it seemed obvious throughout our dinner that the staff wanted the table, even though the dining room was only half full. I would have understood had others been waiting to eat. In any case, I will go back and try it again. But I hope Crispo will be a little more accommodating in the future."

Honestly barely came to the table .. Only time was to ask for our order. When asked how our good was he asked while running by to go to another table.   • "This was my second time at Crispo. The first time I sat at the bar and had one of the best meals of my life. This time I made a reservation and was seated in their amazing back room. The place is twice as big as it looks from the street. The ambiance is perfect; cozy, romantic, happy. But all that would mean nothing if the food wasn't SO AMAZING! Words fail when trying to describe it. Everything was just so unselfconsciously good; the work of a chef who obviously loves the taste of his own food. It was "foody" but in a way that was natural; the highest expression of the ingredients. Crispo is both a neighborhood bar/restaurant and a destination restaurant. It's unassuming, moderately priced, and totally amazing! A true NYC gem."

  • "Really appealing menu and fresh, well prepared food. Prices are relatively reasonable for this neighborhood and type of food. What marred what was a positive experience overall, was the fact that the wait staff and bus people make diners feel very rushed, even when there are plenty of open tables. The bus people quickly ask you if you're finished with your food, when there's a fair amount left on the plate, and even start to reach to take it away while you're still eating! The wait staff repeatedly tried to bring the check prematurely and did, ultimately, just toss it down on our table unrequested. One gets the sense that the staff is being pressured by superiors to rush people this way, which is a foolish and shortsighted choice."

  • "what a fabulous dining experience. Warmly greeted at the door, seated right away. Warm crusty bread and fresh olive oil delivered promptly to the table. The stuffed hot peppers were just the right amount of spicy and the mozzarella risotto balls are a delicacy not to be missed. The highlight of the meal is the incredible carbonara.... WOW. no words can explain this. just order it and thank me later. we were too full to order dessert but it only means we will have to return to give those beautiful zeppolis we saw on the way out a try.... well done Crispo... thank you!!"

  • "I have a brother who is gluten sensitive and I sent him several menus in advance of his trip to NYC. He selected Crispo because they had a lot of gluten free options. Our waiter was completely aware of the ingredients of each menu item and steered my brother away from the secret flour or gluten in different dishes. The food was wonderful, although they had removed some of my favorite items recently. Still, the wine choices were broad, the food delicious as always, and we had a great evening. I highly recommend Crispo and do, every chance I get."

  • "The service was pitiful- The restaurant was half empty and they first tried to stick us in the back room where all the families with loud kids running around were. Then they tried to stick us by the bathroom where the door hits your chair when someone goes in and out- it was ridiculous. Asked for water no less than 3 times- lemon no less than 3 times- this went on all night long. Espresso was served ice cold- not sure how long it sat there. When they finally got me a second one everyone was ready to go and the check was paid. I was of course charged for it. Food overall was average at best. The manager had the nerve to offer me dessert as we were leaving- really? Now that we are dressed and at the front door. I would not go back."

  • "We were seated in the bar area just at the point where the dining room starts so the noisy young bar crowd definitely took away from our dinner conversation. The 1st course was delivered almost immediately and the 2nd course came in seconds after we were finished with our first, and so on and so forth. For a Saturday night, I'm assuming they need to turn over tables in around 1 hour and they made no apologies for the fast pace. Actually one of the "dish clearers" removed a 1/2 eaten dessert plate without even asking if we were finished! Poor form. I felt like I was at more of a fast food restaurant than a fine dining establishment. I would recommend it again for the food (taste/quality) but not necessarily due to the pace."

  • "Once again by reading reviews we found a great spot that I would go back to if we lived in the city. Food was expertly prepared. The back room which is actually an outdoor patio was such a surprise with the antique meat cutters and cobblestone fountain. The noise level was typical NYC which we find fun. We arrived early and were promptly seated. Crusted salmon special was perfect . The chopped salad as the menu stated had many different items in it. We had fun trying to identify all the different favors that blended perfectly."

  • "Best spaghetti carbonara I have had since I came back from Italy in July 2013. The fettuccini with beef bolognese sauce was fresh handmade pasta cooked to perfection. The mixed olives had about 7-10 different types of olives, each had its own unique flavor and was seasoned perfectly. The burrata with tomatoe and basil was super refreshing and light and the crispy pork belly with stuffed figs was delicious. Only thing I would change is the use of the figs, I prefer fresh figs over dried figs. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and already have to a few close friends."

  • "Our server insisted that we had 2 order both starters & entrees at the same time so that the kitchen would be able 2 time everything perfectly. This rose eyebrows because I was w 2 others and we were celebrating an occasion, we told our server that we didn't want 2 be rushed what so ever. We asked if we could only order starters and then order entrees once we started arrived. He said this was not possible and gave us a few more mins to decide on everything we wanted. We started w cocktails and small bites, then we order appetizers, entrees, and deserts. We sat down at 8pm our check was presented at 9:15pm. 1 hour and 15 mins for a party of 3 having 4 courses! It was completely rushed and the restaurant wasn't busy. It ruined our experience!"

  • "After only discovering Crispo less than a year ago, I decided to take my girlfriend there for Valentine's Day. It is already one of her favorite spots; not only for the food, but for the scene as well. It is a vibrant and energetic spot, with many full tables, busy waitstaff, and lots of hustle and bustle. If you get a chance, get a table in the back open garden area. It can get a bit loud at times, but is also a beautiful dining area. The wine list is extensive and memorable, if a bit pricey. The food will not disappoint either. The black truffle ricotta ravioli was outstanding and the caramelized brussel sprouts are a must. Go and enjoy the Crispo experience as soon as you can!"

  • "Crispo has a variety of small plates. We find it fun on occasions to just order several of those to share. The main courses are excellent as well. Crispo has become one of my favorite dining experiences. When reserving, tell them you DO NOT want to sit in the bar area. It's too loud and crowded. They'll still try and seat you there if you're a two top, but at least you'll have the ammo to say you requested otherwise. They're usually accommodating."
