A word from Crispo
Chef and owner Frank Crispo opened Crispo Restaurant in the heart of Chelsea and the West Village in the summer of 2002.

Our 150 seats create a lively, warm and friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy our signature Northern Italian cuisine.

We were nominated in 2002 for "Best New Restaurant" by Time Out magazine, and received an award for "Best Spaghetti Carbonara" by New York Magazine in 2004.

Food is not our only passion. Our extensive wine list covers the major regions of Italy and several other countries beyond. For enthusiasts, we have a full bar stocked with grappa, amaros, aperitifs and digestifs.

Come join us for dinner in our main dining room, or in our outdoor garden space. It remains open year long. With this newest addition to Crispo Restaurant you will truly feel like you are not in New York.

Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and i had gone to Crispo`s in April and had a great meal on a sunday evening,, we could not wait to return it took us awhile to get back but i wished it took a little longer . The food was sub par and the service was awful our waitress had the personality of a piece of day old bread. We will not be going back anytime soon unfortunately we thought we found a little gem for ourselves but not."

  • "By the end, the food made up for the service, but I hate when my meal starts off on a bad note. Initially, everything was ordered separately and there was a huge gap between receiving one thing and ordering the next, so I quickly realized I was going to have to be pushy and keep talking to keep my server's attention long enough to order drinks and appetizers. The bread is horrible - cold and hard and awful. The truffle mozzarella was amazing. I ordered the pesto salmon which was incredible and my date ordered the truffle ravioli which was also incredible but too rich for me to have ordered. The creme brulee and dark chocolate tasting was the perfect end and a great mix of sweet and not so sweet!"

  • "1st time here, relatively slow & quiet when seated. By the time we left we couldn't hear each other talk. The bussers and floor staff hovered and hovered. Approached table every 10 seconds looking to see if we had an empty plate. VERY DISTURBING! Entrees arrived when we had not finished apps. Very bad timing of waitress, why did she fire the entrees while we were still on our apps? And do the bussers and food runners who were checking our table so frequently think they are invisible? Approaching the table over & over, most disruptive and unwelcome. Not hospitable. My pasta was stuck together at the ends, clumpy. Obviously I will not return."

  • "I have been a frequent visitor to my neighborhood restaurant for a long time. It's like home-- always warmly greeted at the door and the food is fresh and homemade. Love the homemade pastas and meatballs. Great veal Milanese and the Branzino is a favorite. A great spot anytime."

  • "This is by far my favorite restaurant! I have been here at east a dozen times and at no point can I say anything bad about the restaurant, food or service. Just an incredible place and would highly recommend it over and over again"

  • "We had the fried risotto/mozzarella balls which were delicious eaten with the tomato sauce. My husband had the ravioli with the truffle sauce, which was super delicious, & I had the linguini carbonara. I had a delicious passion fruit margarita & my husband the Toscano wine. The zeppole for dessert was disappointing. It had a bland flavor & the chocolate sauce was too bitter. the cappuccino was just ok."

  • "This was my second time at Crispo. This time I sat in the garden patio area, great atmosphere. We had the risotto balls and zucchini flowers for an appetizer, simply delicious! I had the orecchiette pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe. Pasta was cooked perfectly and this dish had great flavor. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was friendly!"

  • "Had dinner here with two friends. Unfortunately, our waiter was not as on top of things and the service was incredibly slow. We were in no rush, but when one of our entrees was forgotten and arrived 15 minutes after the other two, there was barely an apology. The food seemed overpriced for the quality of the service. Don't want to blame the whole restaurant though. One server even asked if he could help ours and he turned it down. I think we were just unlucky, but still there was no management paying attention so I'm hesitant to give them my money again."

  • "We were in New York from the UK for a couple of weeks on a family holiday with our daughters. It was a Friday night in July and not surprisingly the restaurant was very busy. We'd booked a table for 9pm. Located on the lower level/basement, you walk down a few steps from the street. The staff were very welcoming and we were taken to our table immediately. As one review pointed out, the tables are quite close, but that wasn't a problem for us. Along one wall was banquette seating and table in the middle of the room. Service was very attentive and the food excellent. There was a good general menu and a wide choice of specials. We'd been to the Union Street Cafe a few days earlier and this was every bit as good."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, eating on the edge of the inside with the doors wide open to a beautiful evening. We loved the small plates for tasting while we decided on our main courses and buoyed the specialty cocktails. We appreciated the wine list that many reasonably priced options."

  • "A great local restaurant with above-average food that's not exorbitantly priced. It's not a "scene" but has a buzz and warmth about it with attentive service and no attitude."

  • "I'm a regular here and highly recommend their fresh pasta. But one of their best dishes unfortunately disappeared from the menu. I hope they'll bring the bucatini back"

  • "We done here every 6 months or so, usually with others who haven't yet experienced the food and ambience! Once again, the zucchini blossoms, kale and squash salad, spaghetti and meatballs and ravioli a were a hit. Finished it off with the delicious creme brûlée and pot du chocolat and a bowl of fresh berries and creme! Service was attentive and friendly, as always!"

  • "This is a go to place for consistent, well-rounded rustic Italian at its finest! Great courtyard dining, superb food and friendly service. Carbonara is amazing, but the spinach short rib raviolis were nothing short of out of this world. We always can rely on a fun atmosphere, top notch food and a real crowd pleaser, especially for out of town guests."

  • " They honored the reservation to the moment. We came in, they told us the table was almost ready in the back, in the atrium. It was a perfect seating, we had asked to sit in that section via Open Table reservations. The food we ordered was great, delicious. Their prices are very reasonable, the food is very good, and the staff is friendly and respectful. I highly recommend, Crispo."

  • "Entering a dim cellar area that was a contrast as we walked off W 14th. Friend recommended the place for our anniversary - quiet, romantic that allowed for conversation and time to enjoy our meal. We ordered 3 plates from their Antipasti. The risotto balls were the highlight. We shared their Chopped Salad which was ok. My husband had the pork shank which he enjoyed. The meat fell easily off the bone with slight touch of his fork. I enjoyed the spaghetti carbonara - a Crispo signature dish. It came with a poached egg on top which I quickly integrated into the pasta creating a nice sauce with the prosciutto. My husband wasn't impressed with the zeppoles - fried dough is better at a street fair. I enjoyed the tiramisu."

We loved the atmosphere, and we loved that management were able to accommodate our request for seating and for a very special gift to be delivered. We will definitely dine here again and we recommend it to others."

  • "food and service above average BUT very noisy and a bit chaotic atmosphere"

  • "Sat in the open back room area which is a cool place, but very noisy when the all the tables are occupied. Not sure how you fix that, but some of the walls could have fabric hangings on them. We had pastas which were good, but my meatballs were dry and without character. Fairly good value for money"
