Criollo at Hotel MonteleoneJust Beautiful! Before I can comment on the food and the service, I have to say, that the recent remodel of the hotel and this new restaurant is gorgeous! Our food was delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised that by making something 'creole' they did not over spice it. We had the pork osso bucco which was very tender with a light sauce, and a side of white (cheese) mac-n-cheese. We also tried the duck and sausage gumbo which was more of a soup, as it did not have rice. I loved it. Lastly, we shared a white chocolate creme brulee made in pastry crust as opposed to a ramekin. It was different, but very good. The service was outstanding. The staff was helpful and friendly, and we especially enjoyed getting to know our server, Stephen. Thank you!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMwe were last table of nightwe were last table of night and they were super

James wonderful waiter at restaurant.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMImpeccable service and foodWonderful restaurant in an old charm hotel. Fantastic food creations. Eddy, our waiter, was as old school as they come; great service and attention to our table.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Dinner in New OrleansWe were visiting from LA for a few days and had a very nice dinner at Criollo. The food and service were well above our expectations of a hotel restaurant. Would definitely recommend.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth a visitDecided to visit Criollo's based on the menu having Grouper and as a huge fan of Grouper how could I resist trying this place out? I wasn't disappointment… the fish was cooked perfectly; meaning not over cooked, and was topped with gulf shrimp on a bed of Asparagus. The sauce they used was a perfectly complimented the whole meal. Simple, healthy, and delicious meal that I will have me going back for more.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGood memoriesI stayed in the Monteleone for a week last winter (hotel in which the Criollo is located). Once of the best thing I will always remember is the amazing breakfast served there. Perfect combination of Creole tradition and delicate sophistication. This time I was in New Orleans for few days with my wife and I decided to take her for lunch. Again positive surprised by the excellent cuisine and wine choices. Collin (the waiter) made the day even better providing great service. Apart from one small detail (in expectations) in one of the appetizers the food was amazing. Sea food is always a good choice; however Osso-bucco and Gumbo were also amazing good. Will back again once in NOLA5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch for OneThe Criollo deserves a visit, even above some of the old famous tourist traps. The restaurant feels open and welcoming, and is well appointed. The staff is highly professional and efficient. Gorgeous presentation of quality food and cocktails. I was pleasantly surprised this hotel-restaurant has it all, and I will gladly consider it a preferred dining experience in this Mecca of eating establishments.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic serviceThe food was good here -- particularly the oyster and pearl appetizer (best oysters I've ever had, buttery with perfect combo of acid, spice and texture) and the tomato and barrata salad. But was so impressed with the service. The waiter was helpful with suggestions, very discrete and observant with the small things like replenishment of drinks and tableware. Also the manager stopped by twice -- once to offer us a quieter table and another to check in generally.
Sounds minor but great service is the key part of the dining experience for me. Would definitely return and recommend Criollo to others.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticWent there for Mothers Day 2013. Everything was perfect! The wine list was excellent and everything we ordered from apps to salads to entrees to dessert were amazing!
The service was excellent .... And the atmosphere was perfect. We will return.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerGreat atmosphere. Attentive wait staff. Wine comp for hotel guests. The shrimp, crab & avocado appetizer and the oyster & pearls appetizer were fantastic. The snapper & crab entree and the grouper & shrimp entrees were so satisfying. And the chocolate mousse dessert rounded out our special occasion.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMdinner with musicwe especially liked dining to the sweet tunes of Wendall Brunius in the lounge...5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service and theExcellent service and the food was perfectly prepared. Servers are attentive but not annoying. This place is a little hard to find as it is tucked away in a hotel but is worth the effort.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat LunchLovely atmosphere. Fantastic chop salad. Love it. It is on my rotation.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely going back! The food here was truly Creole. Being from south Louisiana I'm usually pretty suspect when any restaurant claims to be creole but Criolla was impressive. One of the best Nola meals I've had in a while. The short ribs were very good.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFood very good for breakfastFood very good for breakfast . Dinner service good but main course of a pork dish not edible The meat was served as large chunks of meat, most in appealing .Meat also was very tough . We were full at the end of dinner but still decided to get one bread pudding, good thing we did, it was a memorable way to end the dinner.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of the MontleoneAmazing menu specializing in fresh gulf seafood with both complex layering of flavors (snapper entree)& more traditional presentations (grouper entree). Service was excellent- attentive but not overbearing. Creme brûlée was prepared in an edible pastry shell surrounded by fresh fruit. Beautifully done and light. The signature appetizer of layered avocado & lump crabmeat topped with a grilled shrimp with a hint of cilantro/lime was delicious. Would absolutely return.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were late for our reservations,We were late for our reservations, but they found us a nice table for two after a wait of 20 minutes.
