Diner Reviews
  • "lovely room. food very well presented, but not as great as hoped. fish tacos just OK, same with Chile relleno. good tres leches cake"

  • "Everything we come here we are impressed by the taste and presentation of the food."
    Dined on 8/17/2014
  • "I didn't really love it. The food was just fine, sort of pedestrian. Basic items did the job but attempts at elevated dishes fell flat. The scallop entree was inconsistent in flavor and execution and the seafood tasted a bit metallic like it'd been frozen and thawed instead cooked fresh. Cocktails were decent but pricey for the environment an the service overall was a bit amateurish. I was here for dinner with friends so we still had a great time but I probably wouldn't return for another helping of Crema."

  • "So good! Great flavors! Great service! Can't wait to visit again!!"
    Dined on 8/7/2014
  • "The food was subpar and in all honesty overpriced. I've had better food at a corner taco store. I would come back to this restaurant just for the service and margaritas. The waiter was extremely attending and accommodating. The margaritas are the smoothest ones I've had and I fell in love with them!"
    Dined on 8/1/2014
  • "Went with my cousin for restaurant week and the food was pretty good. We weren't able to finish everything because it was filling, but it was a pleasant atmosphere and we had a good time."
    Dined on 7/29/2014
  • "The black bean tortitas appetizer and pork belly tacos dish were especially delicious. The avocado cheesecake was a bit too rich for me, but I am always excited to try a one of a kind dish. The service was also impeccable."
    Dined on 7/22/2014
  • "I appreciated the fact they had a good vegetarian selection. The enchilada de papa was terrific and the margarita clasica was well made even though we got it during a happy hour special. (I have found some restaurants give a watered down version for specials. La Crema's was not.) Service and presentation were notable and appreciated."
    Dined on 7/21/2014
  • "The food is always good, especially the chilaquilas! We we're sat down at the time of our reservation which is rare in nyc. The service was good but I've had better here before."
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "Get the unlimited mimosa brunch, includes your entree and unlimited mimosas. The service might seem slow at first, but they quickly catch on to your drinking pace."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "Started with spicy squash soup. Some the best ever. Scoop of salsa was great."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "For 1 hour, the deal is $23.95 for unlimited mimosas and a choice of entree from a select menu. Good deal, they were on generous with refills. They walked around with a pitcher and topped you off - they didn't take the glass and make you wait in limbo wondering if you'll get your glass back. It was a little hot in the restaurant on the day we went, which made it slightly uncomfortable because my date and I were literally sticking to the leather seats, but the food and drinks were fine. Don't let that alter your decision really."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "Very friendly and accommodating staff. We made an early reservation and were given the choice to choose a table since the one they gave us was in a rather dark spot. The food was excellent. We tried the flautas and the duck, both outstanding in flavor and presentation. Arrive early if you want to beat the noise. After 7:00 it gets to be way too high."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "Great brunch menu with unlimited mimosas for an hour. They literally cut you off right at the 60 minute mark. Mimosas were a bit weak but still did the trick."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Over priced for offerings. Weak margaritas. Small portions for price."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "Look, the food here is really unique and authentic Mexican thanks to Julieta Ballesteros' wonderful menu. But when she's not in the kitchen things slip up badly. The scallop dish was just off; the scallops were undercooked and worse, had the iodine aftertaste of being old. We should have returned the dish instead of soldiering through it. The seafood empanadas were delicious but small for $28 and ditto for the norteno, a fundido appetizer with chorizo, delicious but in a small little serving skillet. The same menu item used to be twice the size at the same price. What happened? It also didn't help matters that Crema tried to sneak in an extra drink order and "forgot" a side dish. Just too many mistakes when the boss is away."

  • "My friends and I came for brunch this weekend and had a fabulous time! The staff was extremely friendly and attentive and the food was delicious."

  • "Easy to make a reservation, great food and unlimited mimosas!"
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "I have been to Crema twice for brunch and it is the best experience I have had in New York. Ricardo is the most fantastic server: incredibly attentive and kind. The food is fantastic and the mimosas even better!"
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Executive Chef Julieta Ballesteros is probably the most inventive and creative Mexican chef in New York. There is no menu that comes close to what she offers at Crema. We come back often and enjoy whatever we order every time. The place can be loud during happy hours, but there are plenty of times when it is quiet and relaxed, with a warm staff to keep you feeling taken care of."

  • "My guest and I had celebrated his birthday here three years ago and it was such a wonderful evening that he wanted to return for a milestone event. Crema NEVER disappoints. I saw that there was a soft shell crab entrée and knew that it was truly meant to be - one of his favorites. The Ceviche and Pastel Azteca were the appetizers and I thoroughly enjoyed the scrumptious glazed Peking duck breast. Churros for desert. If I lived in this neighborhood I would eat here once a week. Outstanding!!! guacamole to die for. Service attentive!"
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "Service was distracted by his iPhone. Food was undercooked and under par."

  • "A real find good food excellent drinks....you must try a ginger margarita and mango mojito absolutely delicious! Roberto was a wonderful server made you feel right at home. He had a great disposition! I would definitely go back."

  • "Food was excellent. Salad mixta was good size to share. Queso Flameado with chorizo: good but chorizo too much like a meatball. Taco's good, not great. Quesadilla excellent. Our server steered us to mild sauce; big mistake. After taking our order, waitress forgot we exist. Thank heaven we had a great busboy!"

  • "Food was excellent and the service was great. Ask for Ricardo! His smile lights up your table. Their specials are noted on the menu- order them. I had a delicious duck dish. Everyone in my party were pleased. "

  • "Great presentation, and very accomodating to a group and late arrivals. Small outdoor dining table. $15.95 brunch well worth it. A must try."

  • "Ricardo was our server, and he was Amazing! he made the whole experience Fantastic! We even hugged him adios! The food was great, yet the mimosa were even better!!!"

  • "Known for such a great bottomless brunch, it can definitely get packed quickly. However because of all the busyness, I felt like the host was not very cordial to me while I waited for my friends. He was a little harsh when asking whether or not that everyone in my party was actually coming as if I was kidding. Mind you we were only three. While most people go for the unlimited mimosa brunch, I went for the Bloody Mary one and was overcharged not once but twice. After it was corrected the first time, I still saw that I was charged extra for the coffee, which the menu stated was actually included. But since I had to go, I just paid the extra charge. BUT the food is amazing. My only tip is to make sure to check your bill twice before paying."

  • "This is our go-to place for brunch on Sundays. The food is upscale, the staff is friendly and attentive and the mimosas are delicious and plentiful. "
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "This was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised. The place was small and intimate and the staff were very nice, generous and helpful (as it was my first time there, my waiter assisted in choosing my meal and he was on the money!). On Sunday the mimosa's were unlimited. My glass was never empty! After we ate, my friend and I stayed to catch up, but we were nicely asked to wrap up our conversation as there were people waiting to be seated. It was not crowded, in my opinion, and there were several open tables to be used (guess there could have been reservations, who knows!). Other than that, I had a great experience there. I'd recommended it."

  • "I've been to crema now two times, and I'm continually impressed by their brunch. The service could be better in terms of frequency and attentiveness, but otherwise I love this restaurant for a very affordable and fun brunch deal. I highly recommend the mole burrito."

  • "Typically eat here 2-3 times per month. Friends visited and decided to take them here. Food, as always , was terrific and the host/manager was very accommodating to our changing schedule. The wait staff continues to improve, some continue to operate in the weeds, while others are on top of their game - when cocktails glasses are empty, offer a refresher round - don't wait until half of the table guests are within bites of finishing their main course... This is a missed revenue opportunity. The team will improve - and the food always brings us back."

  • "Extensive menu of creative Mexican dishes. Terrific margaritas. Excellent service, explanations and suggestions."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "Every time we dine at Crema Restaurante, we are reminded why we love it so much. The Mole Duck is a MUST have. And everything else we order goes back as a clean plate (the chicken budin- yum!) Too boot, the service is always wonderful."
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "We went to this restaurant with high expectations, but were severely disappointed. The service was fast, but I wish they had taken more time to make the food taste OK. Should have expected"Crema" to put cream in everything, but was still surprised to find the salsa smooth and creamy and, to our taste, not flavorful or spicy at all. We asked for and got some pico de gallo instead and that was OK, but not great. We both ordered tacos- one had fish, one steak. The steak tacos came with basically nothing on them and were essentially pieces of (again unflavored) steak and beans in a tortilla. The fish tacos had way too much mayo (!?) on them. Neither of us wanted to finish our (half-sized) portions. Awful experience overall, would not recommend."

  • "Great brunch menu, and the mimosa deal is fantastic. Food is very unique and delicious. I would definitely go back."

  • "Trying different restaurants over Restaurant Week, booked a table here based on the menu. Tortilla soup! It was excellent. A very charming restaurant, good service, positive vibe. The chile relleno is more like a croquette, the chef is inventive. Will be back."

  • "I met an old friend for lunch at Crema. The ambience was lovely. The service was good. Two drawbacks for me were that there were not as many vegetarian entree choices as I thought there would be, and that when I asked the server whether a particular dish was spicy, he said "No." Unfortunately, our dish was very spicy. My friend lives in California, eats Mexican food regularly, and found it too spicy. Granted, the server might not have considered it spicy for his palate. Still, the overall experience was favorable because our server was nice, the restaurant did not rush us out, and the salad was good. If you like spicy food and are not constrained by your entree selection, you'll probably enjoy this restaurant."

  • "the ambiance doesn't align to the quality of the food. Very well done and creative cuisine but the dining space is rougher and very noisy. I think the basement type environment with low ceilings creates some of this situation."
