All the food was really good. Given the occasion drinking was in order, and the bartender delivered cocktails that were as good as the food. An expensive meal but delivers value appropriate to the price.

The food here is terrific. I have been here multiple times but never sat down at a table. The bar is nice and small and perfect if you want a burger. But come early as they run out very quick. The six course meal was terrific and the cocktails perfect! They also offer an 8 course meal!

I decided to go to Craigie on Main due to the good reviews and recommendation from some friends. It was supposed to be a very good restaurant to have a good meal and it didn't quite turn out that way. The service was very good, they were prompt to call and confirm the reservation, thorough about my wife's food allergy and they seated us in one of the "romantic" tables, which turned out to be a booth-like table whilst all the remaining tables are small, square, traditional 4 or 2 seats tables. The waitress was nice and attentive and gave some recommendations about the menu which we appreciated. My biggest problem was the food. It has limited menu, like you would expect from any high-end restaurant, which was even more limited for my wife because of her shellfish allergy. We decided to go and share the renowned pig's head as an entree and I had the pig's tail as an appetizer. And then the problem began. The pig's tails came and they turned out to be just fried portions of a pig's tail soaked completely in a sweet and sour sauce. It was very disappointing to get a simple fried dish which in order to compensate, they just submerge it with a sauce that's the one giving all the flavor to it. And then the pig's head came and it got even worse. It's half a pig's head, which when you taste it you immediately can tell that it was slow-cooked to get the "fall off the bone" meat and the deep fried in a hot oil to get the crunchy skin. It comes with some chinese crepes and hoisin sauce. And that's it. No matter how much you I wanted to try and think of an excuse for them to do this, I couldn't come up with something. They're famous, "signature dish", is just a fried pork version of a Peking duck. There's no special taste to it, there's no chef's seasoning to the pork, nothing. After the food debacle came the dessert, which was the nougat-praline and the crispy caramel parfait. In no other restaurant have I noticed the pre-frozen condition and impossibility to cut through it.

We had such a fun night at Craigie. We went in honor of our "one month anniversary" and they were so nice, didnt even make fun of us, and even brought us the most delicious dessert we've ever tasted (apple fritters with cinnamon ice cream). The service was spectacular, the elusive "only make 18 a night" burger was very satisfying. The artisan cocktails were expertly prepared, i got the serious, and it was delightful. Thank you for a great evening!

Based on the fact that most of my other opentable reviews are about Craigie (and Kirkland), I clearly eat here a lot, so I'm quite biased, but even the more objective critics and reviewers still think highly of Craigie. This particular night, I did the chef's whim (6 courses for $57) with 3 of my friends, 2 of which had never been there before. Needless to say, all 4 of us had an awesome time. I should note that 2 of the members of my party did the vegetarian chef's whim menu and loved it. My main course was a combination of wild pigeon from Scotland and pate. If you don't know by now, the pate and charcuterie done at Craigie are some of the best you can find in Boston. This was the first time I have had pigeon, and at least at Craigie, they do it just right...perfect balance between that gamey flavor and tenderness. One of the highlights of the vegetarian menu was the roasted cauliflower veloute soup with various other ingredients I'm forgetting. Perfect soup for a cold rainy night. We had 2 bottles of wine, one an aged Cava, the other a Sicilian red wine made from a grape I'd never heard of. These were picked courtesy of Craigie's awesome wine expert, Emily. Let me put it this way: drink whatever she tells you to. And if Emily isn't there, you can ask for Carl, their other wine expert. Before dinner, the 4 of us had drinks at the bar (we came early intentionally). Their cocktail menu focuses on whiskeys, r(h)um, mezcal, tequila, and gin. They do have vodka, so not to worry. 2 of my friends had the Hotel Street Punch which essentially tasted like fall, with hints of cinnamon and cardamom. Yes, Craigie is pricey, but the quality of the cooking and ingredients warrant it. But they always have deal. Come on a Sunday night at 9 PM...6-course tasting menu for $57 (or 4 for $45). And then every night they're open, late night menu with 5-7 dishes at $6 per dish, at the bar. I know Craigie is the closest I'll ever find to a perfect bar-restaurant.

I have been excited to go to Craigie on Main since Anthony Bourdain was in town and mentioned it as one of the best places to eat in Boston. I am a foodie and I liked most of my meal but the group I was werent completely satisfied. We think that the plates could have a better pallet balance , which would have improved our view of it. Overall it was a great dinner, I was happy but didnt meet my high expectations.

I came here for the Game Dinner with my boyfriend and a friend of ours. None of us really wanted to do the full wine pairing because it would have been too much for us and they were kind enough to oblige and pick a few out of the pairings for us to have. All of the courses were fantastic. My boyfriend's favorite was the Arctic Char dish. Mine was definitely the venison although I did enjoy the chestnut pasta greatly.

Unfortunately, the dishes are too manipulated, contrived and overly complicated. Too rich. One longs for much simpler dishes that let the flavor of the ingredients speak. They flavors overwhelm each other; they need more space to breathe. This coupled with the overly high cost and an entitled, obnoxious character in the clientele. We felt tired and manipulated at the end of it all.

Probably the best restaurant in Boston, not exceptional but everything you get is good. Weak point is obviously desserts, I would almost recommend skipping. Price is very high, you would get a one or two star Michelin dinner for this level of price, unfortunately while decent, Craigie is far from this level.

Sit at the kitchen bar and watch the cooks multi task and push out delicious brunch plates. The bar is great for 1 or 2 people because while not conducive to conversation, it provides entertainment. The menu is fairly small and a bit different from your typical breakfast/brunch options - no omelettes and basic eggs here. Each time I've brunched here I always choose the poached egg with homemade pork belly hash with a sprinkle of light onion rings on top. Delicious! My adult children don't care for the menu options but if you're up for a bit off beat then this is a great choice.

It pains me to write a negative review, but have to be honest. Had a reservation, the waitress informed us that they were running 'a few minutes' behind. In reality, a few minutes was close to an hour for us to be sat. We did the chefs sampling, and the time in between courses was sometimes up to 20 minutes. The food itself was not bad, but i was expecting a little more for that price point....

food was awesome but the service was inconsistent. We arrived 30 min early knowing that we were sitting at a high table in the bar and that being early we were not going to be sat until our reservation time. When we got there the high table we ultimately sat at was empty and set to go but we were still not sat until our reservation time. We were placed near the bar and told a waitress would take our drink order. 15 min latter no waitress had stopped to take our order. At that point asked the hostess if we should go to the bar to order. She took our order and then it took another 15 min for our drinks to come. Other people around were getting served... The guy next to us actually got a drink with in seconds of ordering.

We decided to go all in on the 8 course tasting menu and it was totally worth it! Each course was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was wonderful about answering our questions (including "How do we eat a fish head?"), recommending several wine pairings, and creating a great atmosphere. The noise level was high but not terrible. The ambiance was great for a special dinner but not at all pretentious.

My wife and I went for her birthday, and we got the "ultimate" tasting menu. Our waiter was outstanding, made perfect wine suggestions, and even brought us one or two extra things from the kitchen after hearing us gush about the food. I personally am not a fish person, but we had the absolute best fish I've ever had in my entire life. The scottish trout and the fish head will forever be some of the best fish i've had. The beef tongue plate was amazing, and just what we would have wanted. Pretty much, each plate was better than the last, and we left needing to be rolled out the door. 10/10 would have food filled amazing date night again.

This neighborhood gem is a fine place for serious lovers of a great dining experience. The organization of spaces within this small restaurant makes it feel very intimate and personal. The cooking and creativity, which is what it is all about, is terrific; the high-quality service was as hoped-for. Finally we got the much-coveted Craigie burger! Had to go early and sit on the bar area, but that turned out to be a fine place to be. Started with an amazing gin cocktail and appreciated watching the bartender/mixologist really care about the particulars. One of the best salads ever, with thinly sliced apples, pickled currants. The burger was worth months of waiting (topped with poached egg for us), and the chunky fries were outstanding. Halibut with razor clams in chicken broth wasn't amazing, surprisingly lacking in flavor but was cooked perfectly. Apple fritters with apple jam and bourbon icecream dessert was light and crispy. Taster bite of coffee fudge was the perfect ending, with espresso.

Upon seating? The restaurant felt a but too hectic and energetic. The staff were a bit too attentive with 2 or more checking our satisfaction about every 10 or so minutes. The starter I ordered, squid ink pasta with clams, was amazing and very we'll prepared. The main course, a pigs head, was very tender but lacked flavor. Overall, Craigie performed average when looking at the value one gets from an experience there.

When we asked to be seated in the dining room, we were told they wouldn't have anything available. Find it hard to believe... went on to experience an inconsistent meal and less than stellar service craigie is known for. Very disappointing, lost a loyal customer based on this experience.

we were sorely disapointed by our experience at Craigie on Saturday. Service was at best inconsistent and at worst pushy and distracting. After waiting almost twenty minutes for our (reserved) table and being blatantly ignored when we tried to order a cocktail (finally the hostess came over and did her best to help us) we were seated. Once seated, our server essentially informed us that we had to get the tasting menu, making the a la carte option seem somehow lowbrow or like a cheap way out. We had guests, so it put us in the unfortunate position of doing the tasting menu when that had not been our plan. My partner and I felt taken advantage of right away, and it was a hard taste to get rid of---the server was pushy and unwelcoming to the point of distraction. While the food was fine, it was hardly as exciting or delicious as we had heard (we all agreed that anything you randomly picked from the ribelle menu was more exciting than any of the tasting menu dishes). most disapointly, our gluten-intolerant guest was served a gluten dessert in a seemingly careless oversight, causing us all to wonder how much attention was actually paid to her allergy. Generally, we left wishing we left feeling we had paid far too much for such an unwarm, unhappy experience. I've never written a review before, and I just am because we were so SAD about it. We love restaurants, and had been so so looking forward to this, and chose it for a very special occasion. Now I'm broke and a little bit bummed.

Craigie has been our special occasion destination for several years now. Everything is exceptional -- the creative menu, the amazing food, the knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff, the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. We had the 8 course tasting menu (which I remember as being 10 courses last time we went), and every course was fantastic, including a delectable fish head. Kudos, Tony Maws, for expanding the palates of Cambridge diners one bite at a time. Our server was one of the wine buyers and she introduced us to the delight of Vermouth cocktails. We always come away from Craigie's having learned something new, or tried something new, or touting a new favorite something.

Our first time at Craigie on Main. It's less of a special occasion restaurant and more of a cozy neighborhood place. The service was exceptionally attentive and kind. The preparations are a bit fussy. Although I enjoyed my oysters and sirloin, my son did not care for the foie gras sausage on his chicken dish. My husband was lukewarm about the cut of his piece of swordfish (prefers a thinner cut steak), and he thought the garnishes did not complement the fish very well. Overall, though, the quality of the food was high and it looked beautiful on the plates. The desserts were excellent.

Having dined at Craigie On Main before, I was eager to return. This time, the food itself was good, but not outstanding. Our server was disorganized and seemingly indifferent. The timing between courses was delayed and uneven. At dessert, a small birthday cake arrived without a candle, even though assurances had been given before the meal that the provided candle would be lit. When our host asked the server where the candle was, she “blew it off” (pun intended). I have loved this restaurant. That’s why I chose to celebrate my birthday there this year. I was surprised to be so disappointed by the over-all experience.

We were four and we took the 6 course tasting menu for $98 each. It was tasty. Still you can get similar good food for less money. Usually for this price I would expect more WOW effects. Veggie tasting menu is a complete waste of money.

We did the 8 course tasting menu and it was phenomenal. Some of the foods were outside my comfort level, but I tried them all and all were fabulous!!!

Given that I am not the foodie that my husband is I was a bit daunted by the menu but I'm really happy we ate here for his birthday. We were thrilled to get seats at the 'chef's table' - counter with stools - so we could watch the kitchen in action while we ate. It added so much to the whole dining experience. My first test was a Maine oyster with green gazpacho (I would never order oysters!) as a welcome appetizer. It was interesting and it made me feel more adventuresome for the dining experience ahead. The waitstaff was perfectly attentive without being overbearing and seemed to really enjoy the restaurant's unique offerings. The wine suggestions were great. Appreciated the birthday candle. Expensive and Creative.

We are very specific about when we go to Craigie. It's a place to go to celebrate, because you are treated with such care, enthusiasm, and dedication to customer service and the incredibly crafted, deeply delicious food. We go when we have something to momentous to celebrate, like this past Friday, it was our 10th wedding anniversary. We always get the vegetarian tasting menu. And each time, we are blown away by the richness of the local food presented like art on the plate. How grateful we are for this true gem of a place in our very own neighborhood. We hope to celebrate there again, again, and again.

Excellent bonus small bite starter. Sand in the octopus tail appetizer? One of the three porks three ways was undercooked? (their signature dish) Ok flour less chocolate cake and mint ice cream. Overall does not stand up to the many great restaurants in the area specially for the non trivial price tag.

My girlfriend and I tried Craigie on Main for her birthday because we had heard great things. However, we were disappointed with the food. The service and ambiance were great, but we found the food to be mediocre and very expensive for the quality of it. We tried two different entrees, the sturgeon fish and mushroom crepe. Both were decent, but not as flavorful or as spiced as we were expecting. We tried the fried apple fritters and maple bourbon ice cream for dessert which was excellent. Overall, it was okay, but it's overpriced for what it is.
