Craftwood InnAnniversaryThis was the best place we have ever been. Everything was great! Thank you for making our anniversary special.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers day brunch 2013All in all, this was an ok brunch compared to five previous ones. The beef and buffalo were very good, chicken and fish dry. No lamb, elk, wild pork, or venison. Very unhappy. Vegetables and desert very good. The shrimp outstanding, the oysters were terrible!
Was disappointed compared to previous experiences.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIt has been our favorite runIt has been our favorite run away restaurant for years (at least an hours drive). It has continued to be superb in every detail.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFireplace in MayThe ambiance was incredible. We were seated in front of the fireplace which was perfect since it was snowing outside and the temperature was around 32 degrees. The food was great and the timing between courses was just right. Craftwood Inn is our choice for that perfect evening on that special occasion. We've been going to Craftwood Inn for 10 years and hope to continue for another ten.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe crispy pheasant risotto,The crispy pheasant risotto, buffalo short rib, rabbit consomme, Colorado elk, and dark chocolate bombe were all superb. Despite the restaurant being completely booked (we visited on a Saturday night), the service was fast and efficient, and we never felt rushed or ignored. Highly recommended.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant in ColoradoBest restaurant in Colorado Springs, hands down. Everything from start to finish, including the service, was fantastic.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in town for Wild Game DiningA bit pricey, but worth it. We went on a gift certificate. Meals ran in the $30-$50 range. I had the large game trio (deer, elf, boar steaks). They were fillet sized but filling and cooked to pefection. I've eaten a lot of venison, but this was prepared the best. A little heavy on the marmalade sauce. FIngering potatoes were fine. Shrimp appetizer mixed with greens was nice. Would also recommend their avocado cucomber salad; outstanding. Finished with a peaches and cream desert which was great, but after the meal was a challenge to find room for. Not a place to go regularly, unless you have unlimited funds (our evening came to $150 w/o wine; water only). But, for a special eveing, it's the best. Will go there again.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMColorado CuisineWe love Craftwood Inn! They offer tasty, exotic food rarely found. From their excellent game menu to the quaint charm of the Inn, Craftwood Inn is a wonderful representation of Colorado.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMQuality DiningBrother Luck is doing an excellent job bringing back the quality and flavor in the meals. Craftwood Inn had gone down hill for a while. There is an excellent selection of meals. While Wild Boar is my favorite, the Elk is quite good and is without the "gamey" taste. He tries to contrast and/or blend flavors to make each meal unique. I sometimes request substitutions from other menu items as I do not tolerate some foods very well.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food, friendly staffAmazing food, friendly staff and a wonferful experience. We will be back.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMwhoever thought basil wouldwhoever thought basil would compliment strawberries? brilliant. presentation was beautiful.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our dinner at CraftwoodWe enjoyed our dinner at Craftwood Inn very much. We enjoy game dishes, and their menu has a variety of game and other unusual dishes. We had Elk and Kangaroo, and both had unique and delicious preparations. There are dining rooms on a couple of levels in this old home, and we really appreciate that the tables are spaced nicely and not crammed in too tight. The noise level rose a bit when a Prom group came in near the end of our dinner, but were were still able to enjoy our conversation. The staff was courteous and knew their menu items well. We dined there for our anniversary a few years ago, too, and were very happy to have the opportunity to return. I'm sure we'll be back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for special occasions.Great place for tourist to visit as it features a Colorado cuisine and has outstanding views. The menu features a good selection of wild game items (bird and animal). If you don't like wild game than perhaps this is not the restaurant for you.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleasant experience.Very pleasant experience. New birthday deal ($30) off was disappointing since the previous free meal deal was a lot more inviting. Not so sure I will recommend this place for a birthday celebration anymore.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMCant wait to eat here again! The food and service were amazing. My favorite was the goat cheese platter, and the salad with marinated watermelon and poprock candy. Very different, but so delicious!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMReally unique creations withReally unique creations with wild game, very tasty! Even if you don't like wild game, I think you might like this just because of the way the chef has prepared the dishes. A little more expensive menu than other places, but definately worth it for the experience. This is a great place to go for special occasions, and if you sign up on the Craftwood's website they will send you a nice gift for your birthday!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place! Also the service is wonderful.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and ambienceOutstanding food and ambience - Quite pricy however4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I took my parentsMy wife and I took my parents here for their 45th wedding anniversary. The food was great and the waiter we had was great. The only complaint we had was that we ordered coffee for dessert and it was luke warm to cold. My mother had the Kangaroo steak and she loved it. The rest of us had the elk steak, which were awesome!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEveryone was very pleasantEveryone was very pleasant and our waiter Steven, was excellent. He suggested a wine that was very good. I had made a request for seating by a window and our table was perfect.
They had run out of the lamb but our vegetable choice and salads were excellent. My brother and I enjoyed our deserts and I appreciated his being free in celebration of his birthday. I will plan on returning in the summer when the grounds and outside dinning would add to the experience.
Thank you,4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMMmmm, Mmmm good!We had Easter Brunch and it was divine. Everything was scrumptious. The fact that it is known to have different game was what really drew me to it since my husband is really into that. First time I had Red Deer and it was very, very good. Thought it might be gamey but it was as good as the prime rib! Certainly would go back and would love to try just a normal dinner there.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a wonderful gourmetThis was a wonderful gourmet dining experience. We had the wild game and small game samplers, just outstanding. Each meat was tender and the sauces each had a delicate blend of spices to compliment each kind of meat. The desserts were unique and a delightful end to an extraordinary meal.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWild Game!A wonderful place to try out different types of yummy wild game!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great time at theWe had a great time at the Craftwood Inn. The staff was so friendly, the food was amazing and the view of Pikes Peak in the evening was beautiful.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ambiance, greatWonderful ambiance, great service. Food is overpriced for how much you get.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was excellent andEverything was excellent and we especially liked the new Spring menu!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM2nd time disappointedThe salads were great, the only question I would have is why freeze avocado?? They didn't have the wine I selected but was given another great choose (at a higher price). My wife had the lamb chops and she enjoyed them and the risotto. I had the Buffalo rib. Good flavor, but vey dry, the potato was bit more like a dense mussy deep fried hash brown and did not compliment the rib. For desert my wife had the cheese cake and enjoyed that, I had the Meyers lemon cake. It was a tiny little cup cake in the middle of sauce. Our server was great. He gets 5 stars. I never saw any management or chefs or anyone checking to see how everyone was doing. When we left there was no one to say thank you and good bye. Had to find someone to get our coats.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place. We likeLove this place. We like to go for Special Occasions, and it always makes the night one to remember.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the second time IThis is the second time I have been to the Craftwood Inn, and just love this place!
