Amazing! We traveled to NY specifically to go to Craft for my sister's birthday. When they called to confirm our reservation they asked if it was a special occasion, so I told them yes. From the minute we walked in the door and all night afterwards every person who came to our table greeted her by name and wished her a happy birthday. The even had a special menu printed which she was able to keep. The food was phenomenal, as expected. The real treat, however was the great lengths they went to to make my sister!s night super special. Over all, we all agreed, best dining experience ever!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect birthday treatWe celebrated my husband's birthday here with a romantic dinner for two. Everything was amazing - very friendly and attentive service, delicious food (and plenty of it! compared to some super-chique places where you hardly get anything on a plate), tasty wine. Very happy about the candle and birthday cake and a nice surprise of breakfast scones to go!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Meal Ever!!!Spectacular service to go with the food. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I got the tasting menu and EVERYTHING was great. The King Salmon was the best and the Mackerel for a starter appetizer was so tasty that I probable could've kept ordering it and eaten it for a meal. Next time I go I want to try the Amish chicken which is apparently what they make really well there.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery, Very GoodA nice evening; top-shelf ingredients, well executed dishes and pleasant service made for an enjoyable night out. There were no disappointing dishes on the 7-course tasting menu but that being said, I hesitate to put Craft in the upper echelon of my NYC dining experiences. Service was mildly amateurish at times (never poor, mind you, just not "$130-tasting-menu-style" IMHO) and none of the dishes blew me away. Each totally yummy in their own right, just no "Wow!" or surprises. Not that there's anything wrong with that & maybe that's the whole idea. I was somewhat surprised I didn't receive any amuse-bouche; there was a pair of petit-fours with the check and a banana bread to take home, but I would've appreciated a small off-menu savory bite6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodI visited Craft about six years ago and remembered that the desserts were very good. We had the salmon and short ribs. Both were excellent! The sorbet and ice cream was amazing. My favorite was the banana ice cream.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFocus on the freshest ingredientsHigh end restaurant without the pretentiousness. Portions are well-sized for the price and quality - many top restaurants pride themselves on nouvelle-cuisine-sized portions - not this place. Excellent unobtrusive service, and flawless execution of all dishes, including handling special requests (birthdays). Their mixed roasted mushrooms side-dish is NOT to be missed. Focus on seasonal ingredients speaks for itself - high spicing/saucing should not be expected, in order to showcase the flavor of the ingredients themselves. I look forward to returning each season to sample the rotating menu.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional experience! We were given a gift card for a wedding gift and found our new favorite spot. Best. Meal. Ever. If you ever get the opportunity, this is a must. Not only was the food divine but the service was unsurpassed. When they called to confirm our reservations, I mentioned we would be on our honeymoon. We were greeted with complimentary champagne and our menus were personalized as a souvenir. We also received two petite loaves of banana chocolate chip bread for breakfast. This place takes customer service to a whole new level. You will remember a meal at Craft for years to come.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOthers have copied it or beenOthers have copied it or been influenced by it, but it still matches up. It is still superb.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe little lady's birthday treatI had been to Craft about a year prior and it immediately was my favorite restaurant. The food is amazing, the service is top notch, and the drink selection is respectable. So, it was first place in my mind when I wanted to take a girl for her birthday. It certainly did not disappoint. Definitely still one of my favorites.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely Must VisitMy sister has been wanting to try the restaurant for some time. She recently moved back to NY, and on the occasion of her birthday surprised her with a trip to Craft. The restaurant was creative, welcoming beyond all expectations, and an overall wonderful experience.
The waiter was superbly fluent in the menu and ingredients, and gave assertive, but thoughtful recommendations throughout the ordering process. The menu is diverse, and as many things as possible should be tried!
It is a tried and true restaurant, and well worth a second visit!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMNot only was the food exceptional,Not only was the food exceptional, but the acoustics were so perfect in this restaurant enabling the two of us to hear each other while speaking at a normal volume without any distraction from other tables. All the while there is the great background of enjoyable music to support the excellent meal. The service was impeccable. Highly recommend ..... this restaurant is doing it right.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat PlaceTook my wife here for her birthday. She's a big fan of Tom Colicchio so I figured she would get a kick out of it. The staff was very freindly and polite. They play a variety of music while dining. The food was great and they sent free samples of soups and desserts. Be prepared to spend some money though as everything is a la carte. Also theres a movie theater on the corner of E.19th and Broadway. Perfect for dinner and a movie. I will be visiting Craft again in the near future.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! Amazing! Amazing!Food was great. Service was outstanding. Menu was very diverse. I can't wait to go back! If you can get a reservation, try it! I rarely leave 5 stars for any place, but Craft was well worth it! I can not wait to go back.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA meal to rememberOur dinner at Craft was outstanding from start to finish. The food was creative and absolutely delicious. We started with the agnolotti appetizer, oysters and the Foie Gras which were just out of this world.
My husband had the short ribs and I had the Wagyu beef and again both dishes were above and beyond. The server was very knowledgable and explained some of the more complex dishes very well.
On our departure, the hostess handed us each a chocolate chip scone to have with our morning coffee which was a great personal touch (and the scone was delicious the next morning!)
Although the meal was a bit more expensive than usual --- this was no usual meal! Well worth it. We will definitely be back!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing dining experienceOur family treated ourselves to an evening at Craft and were not disappointed. We chose the tasting menu and everything truly was exceptional. Our favorites included a farm egg served over fettuccine w/ fava beans and lemon; a succulent day boat scallop w/ Thumbelina carrot, sugar snap pea and tarragon; and rabbit loin w/ soppressata, swiss chard & faro. I chose the wine pairing as the kids are slightly under age and my spouse does not drink. Wines were perfectly paired with each course. The service matched the high quality of the food and we were checked upon routinely to see if our dining experience met our expectations. All expectations were exceeded ! Dinner is expensive (130+75 for wine/person) but worth the experience.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food! 5 star service!!I travel extensively and cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Everything was amaing, the ambiance, the service and the food was off the charts!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently Craft!!Craft has been my favorite restaurant from the day that Tom Colicchio opened the doors in 2001. Since then, the service, the food and their ability to meet my expectations has never wavered. I live on the West coast now but the one thing that remains consistent when I visit NYC is my reservation at Craft and the experience I get upon my arrival.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was exceptional!!The food was exceptional!! The was the length of time we waited for food was a bit long and one of our two waitresses was not very knowledgable about the menu but the other was very helpful.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful mealMy husband and I go out to dinner a lot and have been to all the hot spots. We made a last minute reservation at craft for an early dinners memorial weekend. My husband started off with the pork ravioli appetizer and I had the wagu carpaccio. Mine was very good but his ravioli was out of this world! The sweet maple syrup with the warm savory pork was incredible! We then went on to the main course. I had the halibut with a side of mushrooms and my husband had the braised short ribs, again amazing! We finished off the night with desert. We had the sugar donuts with strawberry and chocolate dipping sauces, to say that was heaven is an understatement. I was so full but could not stop eating them. They melted in your mouth and were so delicious!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place! Just expensiveAmbiance is really quiete romantic and nice, great for a date. Waiters are spectacular, food is simple yet elegant and delicious. Would recommend to a friend any day, only thing is its really expensive for such small portions.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific time at CraftIf I could rate this 4.5 stars I would for both food and service. For the service, there was a moderate lag from when we sat down fto when the service staff arrived and again, until we got our drinks. After this, service was fine. We did the tasting menu, which we considered a good price at $130 per person. My husband was a little less than thrilled with his pasta dish (fett w/ egg) but I had substituted mine out and found my selection delicious. Everything else was stellar and serving sizes were generous. We'd definitely go back.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing fine dining experienceAll courses were impeccable, the staff was very friendly and courteous (professional, but not pretentious at all), and they gave us a treat to take home at the door (mini chocolate-chip banana bread loaf, heaven). Nicely done, Tom Colicchio!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe absolute best in NYCCraft continues to be my absolute favourite NYC restaurant.. The food, service and vibe is consistently excellent. I wish they would open in Toronto.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable Dining Experience! From the time we made our reservations at Craft from the Individuals on the phone, to the Hostess that greeted us at the door, and all of the servers were very pleasant, knowledgeable and elevated our already wonderful dining experience. The food was fantastic; Clever, Fresh, and Delicious ! We were on somewhat of a time schedule because we had show tickets following dinner and the staff at Craft were extremely accommodating and efficient. We traveled from WV to NYC and CRAFT was a highlight of our Memorial Day Weekend Trip. Thank you so much!!!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSuch a Delight! My boyfriend and I went to Craft as a Birthday/Anniversary celebration. After being greeted and congratulated at the door, we were guided to a comfy table in the corner for the two of us to enjoy. Everything from here on out was great. We were given the menu (which had a personalized Happy Birthday message at the top) and the wine and champagne list. They have a myriad of wines to choose from, and you see it right when you walk in. Their food was amazing and tasteful, and brought out on copper pots to extend the luxury even more. They also treated us to a few items on the house so we could try them. In addition, my boyfriend is in culinary school and the manager came over to talk with us for a bit and made the experience better than ever!!!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!craft is the perfect dining experience, every bite was absolutely delicious & the service was the best we've ever had. Thank you to the amazing staff5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNakedWhen I order a main course I expect that there will be some vegetables on the plate, but Craft serves what they call "a la carte" meaning that the main course arrives naked. Just a slab of fish. Not a fingerling or bean in sight. You can order a vegetable dish for an additional $15. Feels like being nickled and dimed, which was disappointing in what I had expected would be a high class dining experience.
The music sounded like boring background Muzak.
There are many other expensive restaurants that give much better value.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMamazing anniversary experiancemy husband and i just celebrated our anniversary at Craft. The service was amazing. All I did was mention in our Open Table reservation that we were celebrating and the whole staff knew it. Every staff member wished up Happy Anniversary. It really made us feel special. Not to mention the complimentary sparkling wine and personalized menus!
Overall great experiance. highly recommended for a special occasion.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA meal to remember! When we discovered that we would be in NYC on our 31st anniversary, we wanted to celebrate somewhere truly special. With Tom Colicchio's reputation as a first class chef, we chose Craft. We were not disappointed! Excellent food - great service and many special touches for our anniversary, such as printing Happy Anniversary on our menu. They also provided a delicious complimentary glass of champagne. As I was thanking them for all these special touches, they told me that when someone chooses them for a special occasion, they are very honored and try to make it as special as possible. It was a wonderful and memorable experience. Craft has the same kind of class as their owner and it shows in every detail.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! We took our twoDelicious! We took our two year old daughter with us for dinner and the wait staff were amazing. They were so kind and thought.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dinner & service!SO nice to go to a restaurant with delicious food & great service! Our waiter was knowledgeable & attentive ~ knew about our dietary restrictions & offered great alternatives! Our dinner was delightful! We will return!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMRefined ExcellenceExcellent atmosphere. Warm and inviting but also sophisticated. Top notch service. Spectacular food. I will go again!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best dining experience! We've been making an annual trip to New York City for almost 15 years, and our dinner on Saturday night, 5/18, was the overall BEST we've had. The service was flawless, and friendly and even though we were there for pre-theatre, we never felt rushed or concerned about having to rush. All the staff knew we were going to the theatre, (I never mentioned that, but maybe they supposed because our reservation was so early), but we felt like we were in good hands, and they were taking care of the details. We all had amazing food, loved the family style aspect of it. The music was great and the room comfortable and not noisy, considering it's a tall space. Thank you so much Craft! We'll be back.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDining solo but not lonelyThe music, design and lighting of this restaurant combine for great ambience. Everything down to the shape of ice cubes is carefully considered. The staff was amazing, especially one adorable waiter that took time to speak with me. I also found other guests to be quite amicable - not sure if the restaurant tends to draw a certain crowd? The food was amazing. The fettuccini with farm egg was rich and delicious; I had to keep myself from eating the entire portion or I wouldn't have made it through my tasting menu. The short rob was also delicious. The only dish I probably wouldn't order again is the rabbit. It was tough to cut and chew. I probably should have been given a steak knife.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMamazingI've been wanting to dine at craft since i started watching top chef. I flew in from Chicago to specifically eat here and it did not disappoint. I have been telling everyone about craft and that they need to try it.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLived up to its reputationTwo friends in Chicago (where I'm living) recommended Craft...said it was homey, comfortable and great food. A friend and I visited on May 17 while in NYC and found it to be WONDERFUL. Receiving the small loaf of bread on the way out was especially charming. Food was Great and the ambience delightful! Will go again when I get back to NYC.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial! One year ago we celebrated our wedding in Craft's private room and loved it! This year we went back for an early anniversary dinner and it was as fabulous as we had remembered. They made us feel special, the food was wonderful, the service was excellent - very attentive. We arrived early to have a drink at the bar. When we saw the bar was full, they offered to seat us early but we were hoping for a cocktail at the bar, so they called Craft Bar around the corner to have them save us a couple seats at the bar. All around superb!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable CraftPlanned a food-centric weekend to NYC and chose Craft as one of the destinations. Started with the Crispy Bacon and Pickled Ramps which was a mistake. The flavor was excellent but the dish was not what I anticipated. Expected more ramps enhanced with bacon. The fat of the bacon was too heavy and affected the rest of the experience. Rabbit loin was excellent and the gnocchi probably the best I've ever had. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her short rib (though the bacon & ramp dish made it tough to get through) and her risotto was outstanding. The best she said she's ever had. Cocktails were inventive and delicious. We did not have room for dessert.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSimple but superbExcellent market driven restaurant with a limited menu based on what is in season. Wonderful presentation in copper dishes. Simple presentation but with great ingredients, perfect preparation and timely service. Short ribs were beautiful, boneless, and extremely tasty. Service was finely tuned and perhaps a bit to quick.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall our experience wasOverall our experience was very good. The service was amazing. The food was cook perfectly. The only draw back was that the preparation was almost too simple to justify the cost.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the bestI recently dined again at Craft and my experience was just as perfect as each of my previous visits.
The entire staff is amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, and so accommodating. This first rate hospitality is equally matched by the skill in the kitchen. Every single dish we had was outstanding. Besides laying claim to the best Pomme Puree in the world, the Rabbit, Chicken, and carrots were all absolutely delicious.
A manager was even kind enough to offer me a recipe card for the Pomme Puree. Everyone went above and beyond.
Craft is easily one of the top 5 restaurants in New York City. It is worth a trip for any reason you can come up with!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, as alwaysHave been to Craft a few times over the years and it never fails to impress.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal- Excellent ServiceFrist time at Craft and enjoyed it! Great variety of seasonal foods. We ordered ala carte and had nice variety of flavors with the help of our excellent waiter. The tasting menu looks great- try that the next time.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular!Must go! Not only do have incredible drinks and dishes (have to try the crispy bacon w/ramps if it is still on the menu) and staff, it was mentioned it was my birthday on the reservation and they printed my name on the menu! Tom truly knows how to "Craft" a restaurant together from ambiance to drinks and food to training his outstanding staff to going above and beyond to make their customer feel special! Thank you!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat night out!We have been to many "top chef" restaurants in the NY metro area over the years and our experience here was truly enjoyable. Great service from the moment we walked in. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating in all aspects. All of our dishes were fantastic (appetizers, entrees and sides) . The extra nice touches were the complimentary small appetizer and dessert dishes they provided as well as a very tasty banana chip loaf that they gave us as we left the restaurant. Very classy! One of the best things we found was that while the restaurant was full and vibrant, we were actually able to have a normal conversation with our friends due to the great sound acoustics in the restaurant. We will be going back.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI hated to leaveThis was my first visit to Craft and I was absolutely delighted with the experience. The ambience was wonderful--big tables and wonderfully decorated--very chic and elegant. I kept telling my dining companions that I never wanted to leave! The service was superb--we were waited on with care and attention but without being smothered. The food was delicious, simply but elegantly presented. The portions were just right. The amuse bouche was a tasty surprise, the bread was fabulous, and the main entrees were marvelous. I had the rabbit loin with fresh asparagus (I thank the waiter for his vegetables recommendation). The dessert was even better. Then as we left, we were given small loaves of banana bread with chocolate chips. Wonderful!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMbirthday celebrationDining is memorable experience at Craft. The food is excellent and the service extremely professional and warm. This was a birthday celebration for a friend and they went out of their way to make it enjoyable.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AM20th wedding birthday anniversaryThe place was very pleasant , the food was fantastic and the service marvelous ! We enjoyed a lot . The master waiter was very very pleasant , very polite and gentle!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been to this restaurantWe've been to this restaurant twice now.
