A word from Craft Los Angeles
Tom Colicchio's Craft in New York City received the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant nationwide in 2002 & five years later brought Craft across the country to join the other "top chefs" in Los Angeles. His new American dishes marry the finest ingredients, haute cuisine and family-style service. Under the execution of Chef de Cuisine Ray England, Craft features produce from local organic farms, all-natural meats & day-boat seafood. With the award-winning architectural design of Bentel and Bentel & under the glow of filament bulbs, diners share dishes that celebrate 'single' ingredients, expertly & simply prepared.

Awarded Three and a Half Stars by S. Irene Virbila of the Los Angeles Times, she states:

“The menu offers a master class in contemporary American cuisine. You won’t find recipes with 17 ingredients or unnecessary frills. Each dish relies on simplicity & elegance, superb ingredients & expert execution to make its point."

Great dinner for celebrations or big business meals. The level and kind of service I miss from NY. Terrific flavors. Pretty space - not a bad table in the house. Super expensive. Ice cream needs a little work and I'd like to add another vote for one GF dessert. Otherwise amazing choice for a memorable celebratory dinner.

My wife and I have eaten at Craft in New York a couple times. However, this was our first time eating at Craft in Los Angeles. We had high expectations and Craft delivered as usual. The service was spot on and the food was excellent. The personal attention was extra special as it was my wife and my anniversary and we loved the personalized menus we received.

My husband and I have been to Craft a number of times, but not on a regular basis. The thing that has us coming back, besides the great food, is the phenomenal service. From the moment you walk in to the minute you leave, you feel like a valued friend, not just a customer. The service is attentive, but not cloying. The food was great, as usual. I could happily live on the ricotta cavatelli and mashed potatoes. The Dover scallops were the best I've had there to date. The only dish I wasn't thrilled with was the kale salad. A little too salty and not dressed enough. I look forward to our next occasion so we can celebrate with another great meal at Craft.

BUT, chefs, please serve large spoons when you are serving family style! duh!! Also, pay attention to martinis, they should be COLD! I hate having to send back a martini that is not even near being cold enough. otherwise, nice small touches and yummy food.

The food was good, nothing special, not great. What we had was prepared to perfection but nothing outside the box. Flavors were good but not complex or dynamic. Very true to home style food. Service was wonderful and untouchable. The host... Not as much. Closed off and snubbed us. I have a broken foot, need to wear tennis shoes, I got a look that could kill. Unacceptable, he doesn't know me and IM THE CUSTOMER.

We were seated by the window, and even though several tables were occupied by large groups, the noise level was quiet. Spacious room, wide tables were wide and service attentive without being obsequious. The menus, bearing my husband's name, (lovely attention), were varied and tempting. We chose the ribs, the hanger steak, the halibut and the scallops, with the gratin, mushrooms and cipollini onions. Everything was delicious. Tiny bowls of gazpacho before our entrees and mini sorbets before our desserts. The desserts, doughnut and chocolate tart, were not great. We appreciated the mignardises and the little birthday cake, and the little bags of granola, another lovely attention. Prices are high but it was a delicious evening.

We went to Craft to celebrate our anniversary which I mentioned when making my reservation. I was a little surprised when I received a phone message requesting my wife's first name. When we were seated and given our dinner menus I discovered the reason, our menus were specially printed with a notation celebrating our anniversary. That marked the beginning of a wonderful evening. The food at Craft is fabulous. For openers we had a wonderful avocado and peanut salad as well as pork belly that melted in your mouth We had their signature Diver scallops and sublime lamb (and generously portioned) as entrees. Side dishes of mushroom and perfect Gnocchi. Their wine list is excellent and by the glass wine first rate. We shall return

Been to many of the best restaurants in LA, and Craft is now at the top of my list. Great service (friendly and respectful without being stuffy), Great food (not overcomplicated, just perfectly done), and great atmosphere (tables aren't on top of each other and we couldn't hear the people talking at the table next to us) Wine sommelier was friendly and knowledgeable. And when we mentioned that we were not 100% pleased with a steak we ordered, the manager sent us each a glass of desert wine.

I'd not eaten at Craft for a few years now, and this was my first - probably only - time at lunch. I had the prix fixe and my friend ordered their chicken salad. Hers was bland and soggy. My gazpacho was pretty good as a starter. The sole as a second course was bland and unimaginative. The strawberry ice cream for dessert was probably the best part of the meal. Even though we were sitting across from each other, I still had a hard time hearing my friend when she was speaking to me. Seemed like the chef (?) texted this one in - even a phone call might have been better. I am not planning on going back, because it was a huge waste of money.

I had the best time at Craft! We took my friend for her birthday, and I am so glad that we did. The service was excellent! She was greeted several times. They also put her name on the menu. Aside from the free dessert you get from other restaurants, we also got a soup, an amazing plum sorbet, a fancy smore type treat, and a cornbread that was wrapped to go! All of our food was delicious, but my favorite was the gnocchi! It was the best I've ever had!!! I would recommend this restaurant for a special occassion or to someone who just wants some amazing food. I will be back!

Our experience at Craft was one that still has us talking. It seems as though the rating scales for service, food, and ambiance should allow for more stars than 5 after dining at Craft. The staff is incredibly trained, friendly, and excellent at what they do. It must be a pleasure to staff a restaurant where the food is well-prepared, thoughtful, and delicious - I assume they have few complaints. The experience made a birthday celebration more special!

We came as a group of 6, everything was served family style so it was great for sharing and trying different things. I felt that the main entrees came out a little cold. We ordered the washugyu? Flat iron medium rare but it was rare. Cooked nicely, but our whole table agreed it was rare. As for it being cold, I understand meats need to rest after cooking, but maybe a little warmer would have made a big difference. The duck entree was probably my favorite, cooked perfectly medium with a crispy skin, and still warm. Mujufigi pork was cooked nicely but a little cold in the center and lacked seasoning. Overall nice place for a special occasion, lovely ambiance and top-notch service.

The restaurant is a lovely place to have a meal. The service is amazing. They are very good at taking care of their tables without being fussy. We had the DineLA menu; the heirloom tomato salad was delicious, the little gem salad was fantastic. We had the Salmon and the Pork. Both were delicious. The sauce and grits with the pork were particularly good. The dessert, cinnamon sugar doughnuts and a creme fraiche panna cotta with strawberries were absolutely fantastic, even to my friend who never eats sweets. My favorite touch we the little fun things they brought out. There was a gazpacho amuse bouche, wonderful peas and carrots with our mains, caramel popcorn and a bag of homemade granola to take for breakfast. Just perfect.

This was my first time to Craft. The service was outstanding and I really liked the setting and the look of the restaurant. We took advantage of the Dine LA at $45. The small taste of gazpacho at the beginning was wonderful. I would give it 5 stars, however, I wasn't crazy about the cauliflower hummus. The bread was amazing and I really liked the way they had multiple appetizers and 2 desserts for the two of us that we could share. I will definitely go back, although it is pricey, but surely worth it.
