A word from CQ's
Nestled amidst the ancient, moss draped oaks in Harbour Town, CQ's combines great fun, fine dining and a touch of Hilton Head Island history. CQ's has the feeling of an old, cozy, and comfortable inn. Heart-of-pine floors, wooden mantle pieces, stained glass, and the photographs and memorabilia of the Lowcountry culture all contribute to the charm that has made CQ's the place to dine since 1973. Inspired by the abundant varieties of fresh seafood, beef and game available. Our chef creates dishes that are best described as contemporary American with classic influences. Recognized for having the most extensive wine list on Hilton Head Island, CQ's offers more than 400 wine selections with over 70 poured by the glass.

Unfortunately, I am only able to dine at this restaurant about once a year when I go for my annual stay on Hilton Head Island. However, from one year to the next it stays consistently good. This year one of my goddaughters again joined me for a week of vacation. She is a vegetarian and its sometimes a bit more difficult to find a restaurant that will make something special for her. CQ's has never hesitated and prepared not only a beautiful entree but a most delicious one.

Nice building nestled in at harbourtown with 2 levels..food was well prepared and reasonable wine list..as with most hilton head restaurants of this type the food is overpriced, apparently the recession has not hit the island..but if you are just there for a week and looking for good food this would fit your bill..

The food was wonderful and creative. The only disappointing part was the dessert. We were intrigued by the chef's "taste of sugar" - it was literally three teaspoons on a dinner plate with a spoonful each of key lime pie, bread pudding and creme brule. We thought it was a wonderful "sampler' and expected the pricing to reflect the same. We were SHOCKED to find the price was $9.75 for literally 3 teaspoons of dessert. So shocked, I had to ask the server if this was correct - to which she replied yes. I asked how much a regular size dessert was and she said between $8. and $10. Which I would not mind paying for a full desert, but not for three teaspoonsful. This was our only complaint and we would encourage others not to order this dessert.

We had a really great dinner with our two kids on Friday night of the Verizon Heritage Classic. We had reservations for 6:00 and we were seated immediately. By the time we left the place was PACKED. In between we had three courses of a great meal. They have a kids menu as well as a young adults menu which is very nice. This restaurant is pricey but for a special occassion it is outstanding.

This is probably the best restaurant on Hilton Head! It is a 3 diamond rated and the only reason it isn't a 4 diamond is because they only have one bathroom stall for each Ladies and Gentleman. Food and Presentation were outstanding and choices on the menu were excellent and Chef Eric is an outstanding chef trained at the best culinary institutes in the world.

CQ's was a great experience from the moment you walk in. Attractive bar, dining areas that are small and quiet. Wait staff was very attentive. Food was the best we've had at Hilton Head during 2 weeks we've been then in the past 2 years. Carolina Flounder that I had was nicely prepared and presented. Wine list was more than adequate.

Pricey and elegant, with excellent service, the restaurant has little to offer those with simple tastes. At least a couple of entrees should not be encumbered with overdone attempts at haute cuisine. Too bad the menu was such a disappointment. CQ's is by far one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. And, this is a combination of so many things. First of all, Chef Eric Segal is just the best. Everything is mouth-watering. This includes the appetizers through the desserts. But, the staff is also one of the strongest points. Kelly has served my table both times I have been here---and she makes the experience just wonderful. She is friendly, knowledgeable, sensitive---I could go on and on. I am hearing impaired, and she makes sure that she speaks very clearly. The CQ house itself is beautiful and romantic. And, there was a full moon that night that the staff made sure we all went out to see. Wonderful evening. Peggy Garrett, SunCity

This was our first visit to HHI and decided to celebrate Christmas with a special dinner at CQs. The restaurant was all dressed up in holiday lighting. Our party of 4 were seated in the Rice Room with a beautiful mural to admire. I believe the only minor complaint we had was the AC was a little too cool and seemed to blow right on us. One look at the menu told us we would have a memorable meal. It was hard to decide, but our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. The geologist amongst us loved the presentation of the butter on chilled stone. The whole meal was delightful. The venison osso bucco, rib eye steak and lamb were prepared to prefection. The shrimp bisque was a big hit as was the beet salad and house.

We paid over $100 for one of the worst meals we have ever eaten. My fish was overcooked and fishy, the sauce was overly salted, and the entire dish was barely edible. When we quietly complained to the server, the manager came over and akwardly and defensively asked what could be wrong with the dish? We responded with our problems, and she said "I'm sorry." That's pretty pathetic service for a restaurant of CQ's caliber. If you want to charge that much for your food, you need to deliver in taste, presentation, and service. Not only that, but our heirloom tomato salad appetizer tasted like store bought tomatoes that lacked flavor and were drowning in olive oil. Overall, an awful experience. I would warn anyone against eating at CQ's.

This restaurant came highly rated. The setting is nice and the service was very good. The food was tasty, but not anything that really impressed us. My wife had the lobster trio which was supposed to be a 1st course. It was very big and covered in a rich, overpowering sauce. I had the heirloom beet salad with chevre mousse. It was good, but nothing special. For our main courses she had scallops and I had halibut. The scallops were cooked well and the house bacon was tasty. However, this dish was again covered with a rich, overpowering sauce. The halibut was a take on fish and chips with a caper beignet as the salty, crunchy part. It was served on a califlower puree and had some greens and a sauce. Overall, it was pretty good.
