Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent food, well designed menu, expensive. The menu was more creative under Mark Miller, but is still delicious. If you are going to get the "Cowboy Cut Steak", I recommend asking what the MP (market price) is before you order it or you will be shocked when you get your bill."

  • "Fist time back in almost 20 years and the food and service where just as wonderful as I remembered it from my last (and only other) visit. It is pricey but the great mix of new and old Santa Fe is unique among the many superior restaurants in and around the Plaza. We will go back when we return again."

  • "Good food, well prepared and presented. Prices were very high for the quality of the food and level of service. I don't mind paying $300.00 for dinner but this restaurant does not rate this level of cost."

  • "Been going to the venerable Coyote Cafe since it opened ... and will return in August (also for the Opera) ... looking forward to the deck being opened then."

  • "A favorite of my wife and I for years, Coyote continues to deliver. I wish they would bring back a little more variety on the seafood side of the menu, but the cocktails were awesome, the food divine, and the service top-notch. Will continue to be on our regular rotation of the restaurants we choose to frequent in Santa Fe."

  • "Although my seat had a rip in the upholstery, Coyote is consistently very good, considering how long it has been in business and a staple in Santa Fe. I had the salmon, spinach, and the corn bread sticks are wonderful. My favorite side was the green chile macaroni and cheese. My salad of greens was organic, I would order the dressing on the side next time, too drenched for my liking. I would love to see Coyote offer more organic and grass fed meats on its menu. Still one of my favorites in Santa Fe."

  • "We shared three appetizers and all were great. Also three varied entrees - Elk, Salmaon and Cowboy Cut Prime rib. All excellent in preparation and flavor."

  • "We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at the Coyote and were thrilled with the outstanding service, the ambience, the exquisite food and wine. It was a glorious evening, made more so by the warmth of the staff and the regal treatment we received. We have been to the Coyote before, have always had excellent experiences there, and consider it the best restaurant in Santa Fe."

  • "Attentive service, but not hovering. Good wine selection and excellent food. We were seated in a corner booth that offered great people watching and an outside view. Altogether, a great dining experience!"

  • "Food was outstanding!! Our server Chris (from New York) was the greatest, best service i have ever had, he knew the menu by heart and what all was in each dish! I would highly recommend this establishment!!!"

  • "We were greeted by a well dressed young man full of energy and smiles. He asked all the right questions and answered ours courtesy. As we dined early, there were few other tables occupied at the start. The server was one of the best we have experienced. Each special request was handled positively. His recommendations were spot on and the entire meal was a fabulous experience."

  • "I hadn't eaten at The Coyote Cafe since I was last in Santa Fe many years ago, when Mark Miller created a sensation with his new restaurant. Miller is gone, but the food was just as good as I remembered. Service was slow, so our waiter brought us an amuse bouche to sooth our palates and our tempers. It was a gorgeous scoop of homemade coconut sorbet. This is a unpretentious (I saw most men in jeans) space with a first-class attitude."

  • "Server was amiable but seemed stretched too thin for the amount of tables. Would like to have been checked on a little more. Food is excellent and overall a very enjoyable experience!"

  • "Again, Coyote was perfection. The food, service and drink were outstanding. Yummy Caesar Salad, Spicy Shrimp! Attentive and perfect service. The best restaurant in Santa Fe hands down!"

  • "Coyote continues its tradition of excellent food and service. We have visited SF many times over the years and Coyote continues to be one of our favorite restaurants. They vary their menu enough to keep it fresh but bring the same level of excellence to every thing they serve."

  • "We had a great time - perfectly done filets, wonderful drinks on recommendation from our waiter, bread pudding is good, but not outstanding. Beautiful ambiance, very Santa Fe - people in suits alongside people in sweats straight off the slopes."

  • "Been to this restaurant several times; can be a hit or miss, tonight was a miss. Instead of getting a sampling of what's delicious on the menu for Restaurant week; I felt they served the junk no one else wanted. The appetizer was a choice of a tortilla soup, mealy and boring, or two salads both over dressed and fairly flavorless. The pork Osso Bucco was also flavorless, In fact, the best thing was the chicken. Unfortunately I will not be attending this restaurant again, not even worth $40."

  • "We came to Santa Fe to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary and picked Coyote Cafe for our Anniversary meal based on the positive reviews and menu. I did mention our Anniversary in the OpenTable reservation. We could not have been more pleased! We were greeted with complimentary local sparkling wine, and service was excellent throughout the meal. We started with the Berkshire Pork Belly and Cognac Lobster Bisque appetizers - both great. For entrees, my wife had the Filet Mignon and I had the Cowboy Cut (pricey, but I can't pass up a steak like that). Our waiter talked us out of the side onion strings, correctly saying that my entree would have enough to share. We finished up with the Creme Brulee and Banana Cream Pie. We'll be back!"

  • "Sensational all around! Coyote is a gorgeous cafe, perhaps Santa Fe's most cosmopolitan -- no adobe walls here -- could be New York or Paris. The menu provided diverse choices -- felt like I was having dinner at Tara with Mammy: baby iceberg with spicy dressing, flavorful moist roasted chicken breast with thin sliced squash, greens and sweet potato, then a delicate bowl of puddin (creme brulee) -- partner had tender pork osso buco over cous cous and decadent chocolate & raspberry -- so much pretty delicious food! People watching is particularly good here, and tonight was no exception. We can't wait until the next time we're there!"

  • "This restaurant has never disappointed. Run, don't walk, to get a reservation here. We live in both Santa Fe and Manhattan -- and Coyote Cafe rivals almost any NYC upscale restaurant. A little pricey, but oh so worth it!"

  • "As always the Coyote was exceptional. The special restaurant week menu was delicious. Salmon with Langoustine Risotto was amazing. Service is always impeccable. Love the Coyote!"

  • "If this is you, this is your kind of place. Overall the food was just fair and the service was poor. After mixing up our order, causing a fairly long delay between salad and entree, it was suggested by the waiter that the order error was ours, not the waiters. We were seated adjacent to a party of 6, and when the reserve wines, foi gras & ahi apps were ordered, our waiter's attention was directed to schmoozing this table, ignoring us. We waited for 20 minutes for the dessert to be served after our entrees were cleared, with -0- attention from anyone. Along with our dessert, the absentee waiter brought 2 glasses of Tokay " to compensate for the delay". We wont be back, but if you are up for a couple of bottles of OPUS 1, enjoy !"

  • "Coyote Cafe was the highlight of our visit to Santa Fe. It was our first visit, and I was concerned that it was just another fancy Mexican restaurant, but not at all. Nice decor, very urban feel. Service was exceptional - attentive without hovering. The elk tenderloin was to die for! Treat yourself and go there!"

  • "Hands down, the best restaurant in all of Santa Fe."

  • "For Starters the name "Coyote Cafe" does not lend any compliments to the dining experience. It is far from a Cafe. It is a fine dining establishment notable of at least a 4-Star restaurant. The atmosphere is elegant and contemporary with a Santa Fean flair. The wait staff was very attentive and the hosts continuously rounded the dining area checking on guests. Recommendations for the fare: —Elk Tenderloin (medium rare) Best Elk I have ever tasted. Not "gamey" whatsoever. —Prime Rib (medium rare) ***Note that the Prime Rib is offered at Market Price and is a HUGE portion. Ours had a 24oz cut of meat as well as roasted vegetables and asparagus atop creamy mashed potatoes. It was served on a 20" platter! ENJOY!"

  • "We had no idea that this choice would turn out but it definitely did. Mixologist with real talent. Menu was more than adequate. Good choices , Wine list had our favorite wine. Robert Craig Affinity. A hard to find excellent Cab Dinner was served a little faster than we would have liked I had the mesquite grilled lobster tails my husband the Elk. Excellent ! We would return. Loved the decor, great welcoming bar."

  • "Great choice for relaxing, fun dinner. Friendly and attentive wait staff combined with great food and nice setting. I would highly recommend if you like to try innovative cocktails! Broad wine selection. Food is very good, easily equal to best restaurants in SF but a nice relaxing friendly atmosphere."

  • "The Coyote Cafe excels with their level of service and attentiveness blended with excellent meals. Having been a repeat customer for a number of times, I am impressed with the consistent level of quality and service, and there are always new choices on the menu. Highly recommended for those special occasions or to impress friends."

  • "We had a wonderful meal at Coyote Cafe. The Ceasar Salad was to die for! Main courses were good, but not outstanding. Going early in the week was also a treat - not busy and got a lot of extra attention. Would definitely do again."

  • "Almost as good as hyped. Most dishes I sampled were hits (wonderful large prawns, excellent Elk, a tartare appetizer, a great scallop/foie gras combo). Only a couple of misses (tuna sashimi not great, and why is it so hard to get really good desserts in high end restaurants?). Came to ~$100/person with wine and tip."
