Cowboy CiaoFood was excellent, serviceFood was excellent, service great. We were looking for a more moderate price range, so it didn't quite fit for that gathering, but definitely would for a special occasion.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good everWe're long time fans of Cowboy Ciao, but hadn't been in for a few months (we've been trying other restaurants in Old Town, some good some bad). Cowboy Ciao remains one the best foodie experiences in Scottsdale.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE BESTExcellent on all accounts. Would come back over and over and recommend. Short ribs outstanding.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful place, excellent food!Cowboy Ciao is a wonderful restaurant in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. The food is out of this world - one of the best meals I have ever had. Seared ahi tuna was to die for! The wine list is extensive and eclectic and the place has a very cozy, fun vibe to it. Highly recommend!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for AZ restaurant weekWent here for Arizona Restaurant Week. The exotic mushroom pan fry was amazing. For the price we paid, it was really good. Without the AZ restaurant week specials, it would not have been a good value.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousThe salad was very flavorful. The mushroom dish like nothing I have ever eaten before, a great dish.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMArizona Restaurant Week 2013The menu for ARW 2013 was absolutely yummy. Deciding to come early and on a Sunday was absolutely perfect too! Scallops cooked perfectly, Short ribs were fork tender, and I should have ordered the chocolate dish instead of the angel food cake dessert.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant weekWe came there for the chopped salad and I was intent on having the pork entree that is first on the menu. Because it was restaurant week I deviated from my plan and was NOT disappointed. Excellent food, prepared to perfection.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my third visit. IThis was my third visit. I love the food and the staff has always been very nice and down to earth. It is often noisy, that is the reason for my not-so-high rating on the ambience. On this particular visit the three at my table had to shout to hear each other and, no, we do not need hearing aids. Also, it was a great value for the delectable food and wine.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food western gourmetThe chop salad is really really good. The entrees were good. The pork shoulder tasty, but a little dry, esp for a braised dish.
Nice mixed drinks. Guava drink was really good according to my wife.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAWESOME food! AWESOME Service!A friend of mine was in town for the weekend and had never been to Old Town Scottsdale, so I decided to treat him to a true dining "experience" at Cowboy Ciao. I know the Executive Chef personally (he's my neighbor), and he always makes visits to the restaurant something special. The selection of food items on the menu is guaranteed to delight the palette of almost any patron, and their wine selection is nothing short of AMAZING.
Being such a popular location DOES have it's drawbacks however, when the dining area nears seating capacity, the noise level can be a detriment to the experience. It's difficult to enjoy a meal when you're screaming across the table. I'd also suggest bringing up the lights a bit, as it was pretty dim after dusk.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome find!Went here for the first time over 5 years ago when I was out in Scottsdale for work. It was memorable then and still is now! My fourth visit there now and love taking colleagues to enjoy the unique and delicious menu! Wish this was in my hometown!!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat old town restaurant.Great old town restaurant. The Stetson salad is a must!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMQuite possibly my most favoriteQuite possibly my most favorite restaurant in the Phoenix metro area. Fantastic food, and an amazing wine list. Excellent service from a very good staff. I'm never disappointed by this place. Love it!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways happy hereWent for my wife and I's first date night in a year since having our baby girl. Happy as always.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMYum for foodies !!A definite pick for foodies... The use of flavor and texture in all dishes is top notch! We had the chop salad (of course :), the pastrami short ribs and the WAC Mac and cheese. All were super!! For dessert we had the apple cobbler with Brie creme and duck fat ice cream...perfect. A little pricey but worth the trip and $$$!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst TimerFirst time here... the chopped "Stetson" salad was AMAZING. Did NOT drink adult beverages, but wish I had... I did NOT like the soda's from Mexico, had a weird taste. Ended up with a water. We also had the Exotic Mushroom Stir fry, as the Mushrooms and Sauce were fantastic, I wish the Polenta was creamy. Also tried their Chicken and Waffles. The chicken and mustard slaw and maple butter was delicious, the waffles lacked in crispy texture and were a little dense. Overall, the food was delicious and I would go back for that Chopped salad alone. I am anxious to try their other menu items, because I think their chef has some definite "Yummy" skills in the kitchen! I will go back.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMChopped Salad! The Chopped Salad has the best blend of flavors that I have ever tasted. My guest (from England) loved it so much that he asked to go back so he could try it a second time. It was as delicious on both occasions. Our waiter was non-intrusive but attentive.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter (Kelton) was WAYOur waiter (Kelton) was WAY too visible during our experience on Saturday night. Other than that, I'd go back to eat again in a heartbeat.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu is a little differentThe menu is a little different for some people but the food was fantastic!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOur group had a great experience. Our group had a great experience. The staff was excellent, knowledgeable and very friendly. The wine list -- fabulous selection, wide price range, and all cleverly annotated kept us entertained for quite some time. High marks for presentation and taste beginning with my perfectly chilled martini gracefully balancing a lovely serving spoon holding a spicy devilled egg on the martini glass's rim to the flight of ice creams surrounding a chocolate wafter and marshmallow fluff we shared for dessert. Also highly recommend the unique chopped salad and the mushroom creation served over polenta! Crowded when we left yet we were never rushed and noise level did not hinder conversation.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe wine list is over theThe wine list is over the top! Great personable service.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMstetson salad was excellent, stetson salad was excellent, we did it with avocado instead of salmon. loved the waffle and pork dish.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMStetson Chopped...SalmonI had two, yes two, Stetson salads! Had the mushroom dish and it was very tasty!! Had the bottle of Sauvignon blanc and it was crisp and light. We were impressed with he uniqueness of the menu. Foodies will appreciate! Would definitely return!!!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe wine list is overwhelmingThe wine list is overwhelming and hard to pick what we wanted. Beer list was poor and non-descript. Chopped salad was wonderful - very creative. My husband had the pork flank and enjoyed it. I had scallops and they were a bit undercooked but tasty with a butternut squash risotto. Pricing a bit high but not terrible. Service very attentive.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as always! TheExcellent as always! The Cowboy Chop is unreal-delicious. Very unusual mix of what seem to be unrelated foods come together in amazing flavors.
Everything else we had was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
our waitress was just attentive enough :)
Also tried the pastry chef's "Junk Food" caramel corn - YUMMY!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy best friend and I haveMy best friend and I have been coming to Cowboy for 19 years on our annual vacation. Everything and everyone is exceptional!!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came here on a recommendationWe came here on a recommendation and were not disappointed. We were told that the chopped salad was a must get, and it was definitely our favorite dish. It's unlike any other chopped salad I've had (it was better!). The salmon and basil really made it stand out. We also had the mixed mushroom and polenta dish, which was great. The duck relleno was good but it was huge - watch out if you order it as an appetizer. One of our group didn't like her drink and our server cheerfully took it back and replaced it was another, which we appreciated.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, but pork dish needs helpOverall very happy and an overall favorite in town. Was a little disappointed with the pork dish, as it wasn't very flavorful. However, took a bite of the short ribs that another person ordered and it was excellent! Our entire group started with the chopped salad and we all loved it. Excellent wines and will be going back for sure!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find. Sean was a perfectWhat a find.
