  • "If you are a foodie you will love Coup D' Etat. The menu offers a variety of selection for your standard dinner as well as someone with a more advance pallet. The service we received was outstanding due to our server Ashley who steered us in the right direction with all our menu choices. I would definitely go back for a late night dining experience or for appetizers. It gets to be a little $$ with drinks, apps, and dinner but well worth it in the end!"

  • "My wife and I went here during restaurant week and we tried a lot if their items. The scallops were amazing and the fettuccini was very good. The roasted beats (appetizer) were simply amazing, and our deserts were excellent. The food was 5-star quality with a beautiful presentation. We were able to eat upstairs with outdoor seating, which I think was worth the wait. The service was excellent!"

  • "Reading the menu on line we thought it was quite limited and thought we were in for bar food with a few innovations. This impression was reinforced when we walked into this handsome, trendy very crowded bistro atmosphere situated in a trendy reclaimed area of town, teeming with other trendy bistros. Well we were very pleasantly surprised. Although preparations were hardly exotic, everything was well prepared, the bass, scallops and even the ultimate bar food-fish and chips. Starters were very good. The "cheap" bottle of wine from Provence was excellent (we had two for our party of four). We hesitate to mention that the wine was that good lest they raise the price. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive. We will be back."

  • "Went here for restaurant week, and enjoyed the menu. We were a bunch of high maintenance eaters (3 gluten free and 1 vegetarian!) and the waiter accommodated all of our needs. It is a huge space, hip and pretty loud. Not my usual type of place (I like smaller more intimate spots), but I can see how some people would really enjoy it. Good cocktails - loved the Dealers Choice where you allow the bartender to make something up for you. Corkage is $20."

  • "Came here for my birthday dinner and as part of restaurant week. I had been here for drinks only before and was excited to try this place due to good reviews in local publications. Our entrees took over an hour to get, they were out of the desserts we wanted, and when we did finally get our entrees, they were cold and improperly cooked. We did speak with management and they made several concessions on our bill as well as offered a gift card to encourage us to come back once they make changes. Overall - not pleased with our experience this night but relatively happy with how management handled the situation. Our server was great, although she was openly embarrassed we had such a bad experience. The cocktails are great."

  • "The service, the food, the beer selection, the atmosphere...what more can I say? This place is perfection. Asparagus topped with prosciutto and lemon-tinged polenta was superb and I thought I was in heaven when tasting the spinach fettucine with crab. We were able to try a large variety of pale ales and the wine list was impressive, to say the least. Dining at Coup D'Etat is a must!"

  • "We took advantage of the Restaurant Week deal to try this restaurant. Main room is large and airy. Balconies are more cozy. The service was excellent. I commented to my wife that on our visit the servers seemed a cut above the norm. Very happy, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We ate eary enough the place was not just packed, but there were no complaints at all about the speed of service. The speciality cocktails were as creative and fun as advertised. Food was very, very good. My scallops were large and perfectly cooked. My wife raved about the linguini. The only negativefor old ears suffering tinitis, is that the rooms are very "live" and the sound level, even when only moderately crowded, was getting to me by the end of the meal."

  • "We tried Coup D'Etat for restaurant week and were glad we did. It was a wonderful dinner. The salads were just the right size and filled with great choices as were the entrees for the quality of food preparation. The scallops and spinach linguine were fantastic and it was clear they do not hold back on the best ingredients. Our server worked hard to please us as did the bartender when we arrived early for a cocktail. We will be back."

  • "such a nice place, good food...asked server if fish wild caught, no hesitation she said 'yes'...why is that not then listed on menu, seems rare enough to find wild caught it would be listed as wild caught...my only complaint is on open table well in advance only times for reservation of 2 people was 5pm or 8pm...and the restaurant from 5 to 8 while we were dining...over 3/4 empty...what is up with THAT???"

  • "We went to Coup D'Etat to celebrate a milestone birthday. We ordered steak tartar and polenta to share as appetizers and each of us ordered a main course. To have to say the wine was the only pleasant part of the meal is really hitting a low point in a rating scale. The main courses were in some cases bland and overcooked (sea bass), in other cases, too salty and only a poor imitation of what the dish should have been (two pasta dishes). Overpriced for food that was not well-prepared. I have never cared to or taken the time to write a negative review, but because this was such a special occasion for us and all of us were very disappointed, I thought I should. May others be warned and not make the same expensive mistake."

  • "A trendy somewhat pricey in the heart of uptown life restaurant. The food was very good as it should be and it may be a good people watching location. We were at a table next to a window overlooking The Lagoon theater so we loved the view. The servers were especially gracious and responsive. What bothered me most was the flies. They may be hard to control with all the activity in and out of the outdoor areas but they were very bothersome. I even caught one out of the air as it flew across my plate but it was soon replaced by others of it's squadron. I do not practice catch and release. It is too bad that this is one of my strongest memories of the restaurant. Oh, and the Octopus appetizer was delicious as were the Gnocchi."

  • "Some things were great, some were disappointing. The Burrata salad, highly recommended by the server, was a major disappointment. The burratta was nowhere near as creamy as most, the 'salad' portion of it was all but hidden, generally not good. On the other hand, the spaghetti with meatballs was probably the best I've had anywhere at any price. Nice thick and clingy sauce with a balanced seasoning, the meatballs were spicy and delicious, and the pasta was properly portioned and perfectly al dente. The gnocchi was excellent, crispy exterior and creamy interior, truffle was not overpowering. The cheese cake dessert was also disappointing -- I've had better out of a vending machine."

  • "This place has food for everyone - from pizzas to steaks and seafood and pasta. All were good. The proportions of the main dishes were ample but not overly super-sized, which I liked. I had the fettuccini and it was great and tasty wight being heavy. My husband had 3 large scallops done perfectly. We were disappointed the brussle sprouts were no longer on the menu, but the asparagus was good too."

  • "This was my first visit to Coup D'Etat. Frankly, I was disappointed. Our hostess was very distracted, even though we were the only ones waiting. The service for the rest of the meal was pretty uninspired as well. The individual who dropped off the cheese plate didn't bother to stay and explain what cheeses were presented. As we were ordering our meals, we were informed that they were out of six different dishes. For a menu as small as they have, that seemed a bit excessive. I can understand running out of fresh fish, but they were out of spaghetti and chocolate cake as well. Really?!? I always give places a second chance, and will do so for Coup D'Etat, so I hope they can pull it together."

  • "Decided to try this restaurant out for my husband's birthday. Service started out really slow, we had a 6pm reservation and our server had too many tables until the second shift came in. The food was all cooked perfect and was very flavorful. Portions are small for the price and the plates they were on. We didn't end up ordering dessert, so our server just put a candle on a plate to celebrate. Probably should just skip that altogether."

  • "We went to Coup D'Etat not knowing exactly why others were drawn to it. For us, in retrospect, it was the exquisitely crafted cocktails that set it apart from other Uptown venues. Our waiter, Mark, seemed much more enthused about describing each of the drinks on the menu than he was in describing the food items on the menu. And that's how we felt when we tried both. The drinks were amazing. The food was adequate. We'd return to Coup D'Etat again, but more for what's in their glasses than what's on their plates."

  • "Went here for brunch on Father's day. They did not have the rolling bloody Mary cart as advertised on their website, but the bloody Marys' were raved about by my companions. This space is very cool; open floor plan and unique decor. The food was also pretty tasty, with a few exceptions. The quiche, avocado sandwich and shrimp and grits were very delicious. The vegetable hash was decent (the hollandaise was great, but there wasn't enough veggies) and the egg scramble was a little bit under-seasoned. The service was adequate, but they did appear somewhat understaffed. Overall, I would definitely go back; maybe try dinner next time. Also, seems like a great place for a special occasion!"

  • "Very disappointing evening. Very loud music in the restaurant so we went outside where it was even louder. We are love frog's legs but Coup D'Etat's version was right out of the State Fair. Heavily fried with a sweet sauce. Fish and Chips were too salty as well. The restaurant was not busy, but service was very slow. We thought we were in for a French evening, but that certainly was not the case."
