Diner Reviews
  • "an attendant is there when you board the gondola to give you a drink for your ride up to the restaurant. Go when it's clear so you can really appreciate the view. I had the wine pairing with the courses. I personally didn't love all of the wines (that's so subjective) but the food was fantastic."

  • "We love couloir for a special treat while on the mountain. The ride up the gondola with hot chocolate is a nice touch. view from the restaurant is superb. Love the food. Do not miss the baby kale salad. Waiter Not very helpful with the wine list as we did not choose the wine flight. Our waiter was in general adequate but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the restaurant dropped the ball on celebrating our friends 50th birthdays. . I noted in my open table reservation and when the restaurant called to confirm. But then nothing at dinner. Not sure if hostess Or waiter fault. Even a pop out of the kitchen by the chef to acknowledge would have been sufficient. Oh well. We still enjoyed our experience."

  • "The Couloir at the top of the gondola at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a must for anyone who wants a fabulous dining experience with awesome food, service and scenic view!"

  • "The scenery that evening was fantastic. the mountains had snow on them, it was clear and we had a window seat. Our waiter was kind. They seemed a bit understaffed as the water and ice teas did not get refilled very often. We had to pay more for the teas. The food was excellent although at these type of places the servings are quite small for the money. I certainly had enough but my husband and son are big eaters and were not as impressed with the entree portion size. It is quite unforgettable. The nicest thing I took away from it was that before and after we got off the lift there was a young man giving away free Irish coffees. Now that young man who was standing out in 19 degree weather got a nice tip! You should at least try this once!"

  • "My girlfriend and I decided to try Couloir while on vacation at JHMR after reading about it on the web. Upon arriving to the gondola, there was a gentleman providing complimentary hot chocolate and baileys, which was well received with the 3 ft of fresh snow outside. The dress was casual. I didn't feel out of place in blue jeans and a casual button-up and fleece. We were the first ones in, and because of this received choice seating at the windows, which really made the experience that much nicer, as we were provided with an amazing view as the sun went down. If do decide to try Couloir, make a reservation as early as possible, and at least a week ahead. And don't shy away from an early dinner. The window seats are a must!"

  • "Prix fixe menu. The food was good, but way overpriced. Jackson Hole has plenty of choices for great views. Try Dornan's in Moose or the Lounge at the Granary Restaurant for fabulous views and then eat at one of the many of the other fine restaurants in Jackson."

  • "I really liked all the little touches that Couloir offered such as the complimentary Bailey's and hot chocolate at the bottom of the Gondola before boarding. The food was fantastic and we had such a great experience. I've never paid even close to this much for a meal so my fiance and I kind of felt like frauds while dining there but we had such a wonderful time. Worth the experience!"

  • "Usually ski mountain top restaurants leave much to be desired after the view. Couloir is a rare exception.. We were met at the gondola base by cheerful ski attendants offering hot chocolate (with Irish cream if desired) then took the 8 minute ride up the mountain. I had my son, daughter-in-law and their 3 month old baby girl with us. We arrived 20 minutes after our reservation but were greeted with a warm welcome and immediately seated at a booth, perfect for our group. Mike, the sommelier, made what was a wonderful meal even better. I enjoy wine, so his expertise, explanations and attention were a high point for me. The food was fabulous, the wine list fairly priced... though next time I'll let Mike do the wine pairings. Well done!!"

  • "Flawless from start to end. The gondola ride up with hot chocolate and your choice of liqueur starts the evening followed by a magnificent 4 course meal with a great wine list with a wine pairing option. The service is impeccable and the room and views are spectacular. I also highly recommend for lunch on your ski day. The sandwiches are the tastiest you'll find."

  • "Perfectly fine American venue for lunch made in the same kitchen as general bistro meals. Pricing is appropriate. Views are good - take sunglasses for lunch and be ready to remove layers. Don't expect too much - it's not Europe after all!"

  • "Fabulous fine ! Made reserv. for a group of friends who were skiing for the week. We had lunch on Tues at Couloir and returned 3 other times before leaving J.H. The food was fabulous ! The portions are large so our group split sam. after the first day dinning. We all voted the best items: duck wings, sloppy joe sliders, pork sam., chicken sam. Of course washing down the sam. with a nice glass of wine or local beer is a must! We rec'ed different servers all 4 times dinning. All were great --knowledgeable of the area, food, drink. Wish the rest. were near my home. I would dine there everyday !! Make sure you make reserv. and order a bottle of wine from our friend Mike."

  • "A wonderful place to dine no matter the occasion. My wife and I reserved the chef's table and it did not disappoint. We learned all of the nicknames of the staff and Wes spent a lot of time tending to our tastebuds while answering all of our questions about how to run a top restaurant. If you're in Jackson hole and you don't go here for an evening, you've missed something that adds a lot to the culinary destination jhole has become! If you're teetering, GO!"

  • "Excellent food and service. The wine list was great. This was my first time for dinner although I had been there for lunch and loved it. Jackson Hole has great restaurants but this one is a step above."

  • "We always eat here when we are in Jackson Hole, at least twice a year. And each time we are overwhelmed with the combination of flavors and presentations. We just keep coming back for more. Wes Hamilton has some brilliant ideas, and a great staff, who are there to please you. Even if you are unable to get reservations, take the gondola ride(free) up for a drink and make plans for the next time you can experience the food."

  • "The 4 course menu is $95 per person or $155 if you opt for the wine pairings. We chose to select our own wines. The meal was really five courses with the complimentary blintz to start off with. I followed with the Diver Scallops, Trio of Beets, Pheasant and dessert. The rest of my party tried the buffalo tenderloin which was amazing and the beef. Everything was exceptional in taste and presentation. The wine list was moderately priced for a restaurant of this caliber. We had a bottle of Domain Caneros Brut for $42 followed by a Gigondas for $50. Hot drinks were provided for our ride down. This place blows away the West Bank Grill and the Snake River Grill in every way."

  • "What an incredible place! We went there two days in a row when we were at Jackson Hole, and were never disappointed. Everything we tried we loved, the burger, the grilled cheese, the reuben, the salads. The sagebrush jojos that come with the sandwiches are simply spectacular. And how can you compete with the view?"

  • "Couloir is located at the top of the best snow skiing mountain in North America. The views are absolutely incredible. Get there before the sun goes down to get the full effect. The chef and staff take great pride in serving food that is worthy of the view. The buffalo was superb. The bartender knows exactly what he is doing. The waiter and sommelier were friendly and knowledgeable. Don't ski Jackson Hole and pass this up."

  • "We are foodies who live in LA and travel to NY and Europe but come back to Couloir every time we are in Jackson Hole. Even though the wine list is superb, ignore it and do the wine pairing menu. Your palate will thank you!"

  • "Our family of five, including our three young adult children, had an excellent meal, two days after Christmas. First came the hot chocolate-and-Bailey's drink, offered as we boarded the gondola for our ride to the restaurant, whivh is located high up the mountain. We loved seeing the stars and lights in the valley, during our trip up the mountain in the darkness. Attentive, friendly and well-paced service. We all chose the paired wine tastings with our food, which made the meal very interesting and fun. Food was exquisite."

  • "Enjoyable from the beginning of the ride up onthe gondola to the touch done at the bottom. We would be happy to go often."
    Dined on 12/23/2013
  • "While the food and service was good overall, I was very disappointed that there were absolutely no Christmas or holiday decorations in the restaurant. You wouldn't have had the foggiest idea that it was Christmas Eve. I planned a family dinner up there and it could not have been less festive -- no Christmas music, lights, nothing. I won't do it again. It is a bit of an effort to get up there and next year I will go to the Club where they really make an effort. Also - the dessert was a paltry smearing of wierd stuff that did not particularly taste or look good. Sorry -"

  • "Superb dinning high above Jackson Hole, the Couloir offers excellent food, service and views. Though high in price, the restaurant is located in an unbelievable setting, seldom experienced by dinners unless one travels to the high Alps!"

  • "Couloir is not only located on an amazing mountain but it also can boast having one of the best kitchens in the Valley. One might think that a restaurant on the top of a mountain might be about the view and the food would be a second thought. Not so here. At Couloir you privileged to have a view of Teton Valley not seen anywhere else and enjoy a five star dining experience."
