I have visited Cottonwood Grill several times each visit seems to get worse, service was slow my food was cold and 2 of our guests at our table had over hard eggs on their eggs benny. I think I've giving Cottonwood Grill to many chances to change my mind. I will not be back!

Menu with very good variety of food selections. A pit pricey but had the most tender pork chops with sensational sauce I've ever eaten. Large food portions. French onion soup was just o. Two drinks ordered. One was not the drink ordered and was replaced. The other, a coffee drink tasted like burnt grounds and has zero taste of the alcohol that was suppose to be in it and no offer to replace it was offered even though only one sip was gone. Atmosphere was very good. Booths comfortable and interior was quiet for conversations to be conducted.

We typically dine in the the same 3-4 restaurants so I wanted to try something different. I had previously had lunch at Cottonwood so I thought we should give dinner a try. I don't ever care how much our dinner cost, only that it be good. We got great meals at a very reasonable cost, the service was great, they had a good selection of different "specials" available that added to their decent menu selection. Overall had a great time and Cottonwood will be added to the dining rotation.

  • Good but needs organic menu items

I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The ambiance was relaxing with dim lights and soft music. The lamb shank and berry cobbler dessert were very good. The chocolate cream pie was good but very hard to cut and seemed previously frozen. The wine list did not have many organic wines (sustainable is not organic). They had no wines with no added sulfites -- disappointing. I did not see any certified organic, hormone free meats, wild fish or organic veggies, rice or desserts on the menu. White bread was served, not wheat. Surprising for such an upscale, expensive place. I suggest they start serving organic, gmo-free items because hormones, pesticides, gmo's and antibiotics are harmful and people demand higher quality, healthier foods.

I always like coming back to the Cottonwood Grille. On a day with picture postcard weather, we ate outside for a delightful lunch. Coquetas were tasty while we took in the beautiful surroundings. My companion enjoyed the soup and salad combination, particularly the delicious clam chowder. My spinach salad with salmon was excellent. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the dressing was light and the salad ingredients could not have been more fresh. I'll be back for lunch or dinner whenever I'm in Boise.

The on-line menu looked good so I booked a table. I had oysters on the half shell and the first oyster was excellent with that wonderful sea taste flavor, a creamy body, and a nice brine finish. The first was the best and the rest not quite as good (believe they were not all of the same variety) but still fresh. The Caesar Salad was nice but most of the ingredients were separated - not how I would do it but still quite acceptable. Elk was the main course... the meat was seared to perfection, the asparagus was outstanding, the red skin potatoes just right, and the sauce was heavenly - a genuinely well put together dish without the fuss. Highly recommended entree. Caveat: the main dining room is big and cuts down on the intimacy factor.

The hosting staff were somewhat stuffy as we walked in. We were seated immediately and our server was very friendly and attentive. The water glass my wife had, was not clean. She picked off a chunk of something crusty off the rim before she could drink. The prime rib was ok but not great. The sirloin was very good. The price for what we received was high. I may return but I may look elsewhere before.

This visit was the third time I had visited this restaurant. Every time it has been someone's birthday and this time I took my friend to lunch for her birthday. The food was very good and presented very nicely. I hope to be able to bring my husband there one of these days because he loves fish and chips and I'm guessing he will love yours also. We moved from out-of-state about a year ago, and so far this is my all time favorite restaurant.

The quality and taste of the meals clearly identity the Cottonwood Grill as one of the "go to restaurants" in Boise when entertaining your high end customers. The presentation of the meals were impressive and were a joy to eat. The atmosphere and staff complement the meals by presenting a professional yet relaxed atmosphere. The Cottonwood Grill is one of the best restaurants to entertain my customers and friends.

Absolute perfection, the only other experience that rivaled the Cottonwood Grille was the "Dell Bar" (designed by Frank Lloyd Wright) in WI Dells. The Cottonwood Grille was able to successfully & properly prepare a steak "medium rare" which may sound simple but is actually quite a rarity (pun intended). As a result of this superb dining experience, I now have a renewed belief that Boise does in fact have its own culinary niche.

We went to the bar at Cottonwood Grille specifically to watch the World Cup. We had that written in the notes to the restaurant when reserving through Open Table, and also received confirmation from the person answering the CG phone that we indeed had reservations in the bar. When we got to CG however, the hostess informed us that the bar area was open seating and we didn't have any reservation. Thank goodness about that same time, a booth opened up for us. So, CG's communication regarding the Open Table reservation wasn't good. Other than that, the food was good, the service great, and we had an enjoyable time.

The Cottonwood Grille is a wonderful place for leisurely, scenic dining. The waitstaff is attentive and knowledgeable and the food is well prepared. The serving sizes are generous (in the case of the veggie wrap, way MORE than generous!). I would recommend the Grille for leisurely dining; there did not seem to be any sense of hurry. Our server (I think I recall her name was Natalie) was just lovely and every bite of our dinner was delicious. Equally wonderful was the patio dining, the impossibly beautiful setting for an evening, and the gardens. This is much more than a gem. It is unmatchable. This reservation and experience were fraught with issues from incorrect orders being presented, food being delivered at different times (they forgot all of our salads) and a general lack of attention to our table by the wait staff. While the restaurant was not overly busy, we seemed to be an after thought by the server on multiple occasions and had to actually 'wave' her over a couple of times. Disappointing service to a mediocre meal. The Grille is close by so we often go there for business lunches, but may have to re-think that consideration in the future.
