  • "One of my favorite restaurants in the tri-state area. Always a great meal, the staff is so friendly. I feel comfortable sitting at the bar and having a drink and something to eat by myself or while waiting for friends. Try the baby lamb chops, anti- pasta. All the pasta dishes are great."

  • "Overall we had a great experience. It took sometime for the server to come over and get our drink order. However the food was awesome and unbelievably amazing... and the desserts were to die for. Overall we had a great dinner!!"

  • "Great atmosphere and design. Impressive wine list. Very busy. Server was attentive but lacking as far as experience, and education on the wine and food. Most questions about the wine and food that we had were mostly answers that were made up. Food itself was standard fare for a typical Italian restaurant but had higher expectations going by the design and wine list. Fish special was disappointing and lacking in flavor."

  • "This neighborhood restaurant is a gem. The food was excellent and service attentive."

  • "Some of the food we ordered wasn't what we expected unfortunately but the AMAZING service made up for our overall experience! the menu is so diverse and all sounds so good that we plan on going back multiple times in order to try everything that we'd like."

  • "The food and service was excellent. the noise level was quite loud. The hostess was very nice. Wine by the glass is a bit on the expensive side."

  • "This was our first time trying Cotto. We started with mussels impepata which were good but could have used a bit more "oomph" in flavor. The burrata platter was SO delicious. For entrees, I had the chicken milanese which was a big portion. At our table we had 2 seafood pastas and a pepperoni pizza. Everyone said they were happy with their food. We were ambitious with our dessert selections: zeppoles with nutella, creme brulee AND tiramisu. We didn't realize how many zeppoles come in an order...(it's A LOT!). They were slightly greasy....but that's also why they were so good! The creme brulee was creamy and smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. The tiramisu was our least favorite of the 3 - there was just nothing special about it."

  • "Went to cotto with a couple of girlfriends and sat at the bar which was perfect. Bartender very friendly and had great suggestion of his white sangria which was very tasty. The food was fabulous from the over abundant amount of tapas choices to the tasty entrees. Great place for sharing. Ordered the pappardelle pasta with Ragu sauce and chicken scarp. Both excellent. Can't wait to go back"

  • "A group of friends and myself chose to try this place out as we get together for dinner every few months. The staff was very attentive and friendly, the food was very good and the ambience was also very good. All in all a great place for dinner with friends, a date-night or any special occasion!"

  • "We did not get our food as ordered, although that was quickly fixed. My Panini had all the ingredients but was cold; the cheese was not melted My Proseco was expensive, but had no carbonation. I suspect that the food is pretty good, because the half sandwich I took home was good when I cooked it properly. Nice people, helpful, but needs attention to the food."

  • "Food was very uneven. Some under sauced or greasy. Some over sauced, even though the sauce itself was good. Wine selection was good.s"

  • "Very attentive server. Tasty food. Convenient downtown location for pre-symphony dining. Ambience is a little dark - and grew noisy as dining area filled up by 7:30. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience."

  • "Run by nice, smart creative people. Good food, interesting specials. Very cool small place with really nice staff. Have been 4 times and always been good...and fun."

  • "Came with a group of friends on the weekend, and as always Cotto did not disappoint. Food was great and we enjoyed sharing big and small plates. Service could be a little better - a bit chaotic as dishes come out at different times and items get sometimes forgotten; also table is not always cleaned between courses. Wine recommendations were excellent. Overall it's fun and enjoyable."

  • "I thought COtto was young vibrant and energetic. hard to hear and service just okay."

  • "This is the best Italian food I've had in a long time. I have been here several times. Unfortunately, I know going into the experience that I'm sacrificing experience for food. I can't stress enough how good the food is, but the place packs way above capacity, and the service reflects this -- repeat orders several times, slow drink service. One caveat - if you have a small group (2-3) you can sit at the bar, and usually still get good service as long as you don't mind people bumping the back of your chair"

  • "The food was quite good. The service and noise level were both a problem. Our waiter took the order for a bottle of wine; came back and told us they were out of that wine; we order a second, and again the waiter came back and told us they were out. The third selection, after some delay was brought to our table. The noise level crept up throughout the evening. When the waiter came to take our orders he had to kneel next to each person to hear. 20 minutes after we finished our salads we inquired if our main course was coming. The waiter said that the kitchen had lost our order but it was going on "now" and would be out shortly. The NYTimes review may have backfired and overwhelmed their ability to provide quality service."

  • "We return to Cotto often as the food is always perfection, the energy is vibrant, the owners always recommend the best wines and the staff are always pleasant."

  • "While the food was good, the noise level and the crowded space where the wait staff has no where to stand except for at your table makes for an unappealing experience. The staff tries hard to be friendly but it is just in your face,"

  • "Lovely decor, limited but nice food selection, Great place to go for a nice glass of wine and a bite. Perfect place to meet friends for a drink."

  • "We really liked this place with the exception that they were way too crowded. I would have given 5 stars had it not been a bit of a challenge from the service side and it was way too noisy. They appear to have way too many tables, way too close together and servers have to wait on tables standing sideways between chairs reaching over customers. They were also rushing as it was busy and we felt we were being pushed to eat very quickly to turn the table. This rushing caused the bus boy to spill oil all over my shirt and back reaching over my arm to clear a side plate. We had to order Cappuccinos twice to get it. If great food is what you want, then they have that...the rest may annoy you."

  • "Cotto is arguably the best italian restaurant in Stamford in terms of food (real Italian) and ambience (staff is almost all Italians and you can feel like in Italy. Recommended! Martino"

  • "Nice vibe....place was packed. Waited at bar for date to show...busy barkeep, had to ask several times for a wine list and water to start, wanted a lemon in the water but afraid to ask and get the arrogant look!...many diners at bar, ordered from extensive wines by the glass list, measured pour! Should have asked for 1/3 of a glass of wine, 'casue that's what I got, instead of a glass! Very few wines were less than an Al Hamilton... Dinner, Hmmm...when food came, salmon was nicely cooked but not really flavorful. Veal was turned back flavorless...they came back with CO lamb chops which were good, but not excellent, at $37.95 not fairly priced either... Will give them another chance on a non-busy night....hope they can deliver!"

  • "We went here Saturday night during Restaurant Weeks. Service was excellent and attentive. We were seated immediately based on our reservation but Cotto was packed to the point of being uncomfortable. We exchanged comments with the couple next to us because they really were that close and it was a little tough to hear each other. The staff did a fantastic job given how crowded it was and we never felt that they weren't paying attention to us. We both enjoyed our dinners (but if you are there during restaurant week, ask for the special menu, it might not be given to you automatically). We will be back for sure--likely for a Sunday evening when I suspect it's a bit less crowded and wine bottles are half price!"

  • "The restaurant was packed and the tables were so small we had to keep rearranging the plates to ensure our food did not fall off. It was so packed the wait staff could hardly move."

  • "The restaurant is very tight in space, very noisy, and have to watch your bill they charge things that u didn't order. The food is alright the best thing was the salad , tapas are small and lack of flavor."

  • "My family and I went to Cotto for the first time this past weekend to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent! We ordered the burratta mozzarella appetizer to start, along with the truffle arancini and fried calamari. I then had an order of the homemade orecchiette for my main meal... Everything was delicious! Plus, on Sundays it's half-price bottles of wine! Our waitress was wonderful as well, however she seemed a tad overwhelmed. I don't think they realized that Monday was a holiday, and that a lot of people would be out on Sunday night, so they were understaffed and the service was a bit slow. But overall, great experience!"

  • "We were four of us. Two of us were vegetarians. We started out with the Barbarossa Alba red wine which was great and we ordered the Salmon , Fried Egg?zucchini and OrecchieteCotto. This was very vegetetarian friendly so we will go often. It was crowded and a little noisy. Its a great find"

  • "This restaurant was a delicious and romantic Italian meal. The servers were very fast and attentive. The mozzarella and meatballs were out of this world. I would definitely go there again. It was Valentines day so I'm not sure if they added more tables to pack more people in, it was quite a tight fit but overall worth it."

  • "They didn't have barely any white wines( it's a wine bar). They informed me that the snow did not allow for deliveries. Well, it's a holiday where people come to drink and be romantic, go to the liquor store around the corner and stock up. With a heave fish menu, a white wine would be the go to wine. The food was way below what I had previously experienced. Flavor was not there, and you clearly could tell that they were too busy. The food plates were just sitting on the little table making it even more crowded when done. We literally couldn't have coffee due to the over cluttering at the table. We were sitting in top if each other and it really made a romantic night, not do romantic."

  • "There are many good to excellent restaurants in Stamford these days and Cotto is near the top of the scale. Its a comfortable place especially on a Monday night. If I were a traveler to Stamford this would be the place I would want to eat. Sit at a nice long bar and have a excellent meal in friendly surroundings. The food is fresh, well prepared and in generous portions. The variety of wines by the glass is impressive and the wine list is well balanced. The salads were large and fresh as were the pasta dishes. The service was a bit slow at first but turned out t o be OK. We certainly didn't feel rushed. Overall, a very good to excellent dining experience and an excellent value."

  • "Had dinner Saturday night; lively, energetic crowd and pretty much every table taken at 7:30 and after. We enjoyed a burrata cheese appetizer and the orecchiette cotto and pappardelle with wild boar ragu (could have used a bit more boar). Prices were reasonable, service very good. Will return at some point."

  • "We went to Cotto the same night as it received a "Very Good" by Patricia Brooks of the New York Times. The restaurant was packed and we waited at least half an hour to get a table. Given the amount of people, it was difficult to maneuver in the small space for both us and the staff who were gracious but erratic. The maître-d Ian was very attentive and and did an outstanding job of making sure that we were happy but service was slow and spotty. The food however was excellent and we will definitely go back during a less crowded hour to enjoy it."

  • "Cotto was jumping when we arrived. We had reservations and had to wait about 10 minutes for our seat. They put us in a great booth and gave us great service all night. We decided to just eat tapas and each one was wonderful. We will definitely will be coming back:)"

  • "Appetizers and drinks were phenomenal. The Grey Goose vodka sauce was to die for... BUT when asked to cook something a specific way the request was completely ignored. And I was super specific about it! Homemade pasta should NEVER be under-cooked, it was like chewing gum."

  • "Waiter didn't know what "pasteurized" was and hovered over the table. Was asked if a dish had meat in it and was told "No" - long behold giant chunks of pancetta all throughout. Bread was stale. Pasta overcooked. Desserts, and menu overall, WAY OVERPRICED for what you are getting which is empty pockets and regret."
