Diner Reviews
  • "Fantastic staff and chef, my wife and I were absolutely "wined and dined" - This is the best place to bring someone for a special occasion. (or if you are owing your wife a special night out). The chef and Owner personally asked us if there was anything we needed. And our waiter was on top of everything! People may say that this place is expensive, and it is, but it is NOT overpriced. You get what you pay for here and the food and service is beyond what most have experienced and I highly recommend the Cottage Place to anyone!"

  • "Very small cottage atmosphere Two rooms and a table for 4 on enclosed porch Waiters very friendly, courteous and attentive Prime Fillet Mignon is without question the finest Bread, soup, salads and desserts are wonderful Only open for dinner Expensive but definitely worth it."

  • "What an outstanding dining experience. Everything was perfect. Our meals were wonderful, truly unique."

  • "We had a wonderful meal celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary at Cottage Place. The only downside was that one of the servers (not ours) was quite loud when talking to other diners. She needs to keep her volume down to a much lower level. It was greatly appreciated that the owner (wife of the cook) came by our table to see how we were doing."

  • "Traveled to Flagstaff for a brief visit and found this place due to other reviews. We both loved the ambience, the service, and the food was excellent. We shared chateaubriand and it was cooked to perfection. The shrimp bisque was delicious. We were stuffed from the meal so no dessert, but the ones passing us by looked wonderful. I am sad this restaurant is in Flagstaff as I don't know when we'll get there again, but if we did, this would be our go to place!"

  • "I had mentioned on our open table reservation that I would like a "nice" table for an anniversary dinner - when we arrived we were greeted with a "happy anniversary" and sat at what I would consider the best table in the house (literally a house). I gave a "very good" for service instead of outstanding as our server was being trained, but for a trainee she did a fine job and her skilled trainer working with her was outstanding at making sure everything was going well. Food was great with beautiful plate presentation, we even got a table side visit from the Chef!! It is our goto for "special" dinners."

  • "This was our second dining experience at the Cottage Place and again we were not disappointed. We only get to Flagstaff about once or twice a year, but plan to make this a "must do" for future visits. The food was exceptional and the serve was outstanding. There are a wide range of menu items to satisfy every taste. I had the Filet Mignon and it melted in my mouth. My wife enjoyed the salmon and was equally pleased. The Cottage Place deserves all the accolades it has received!"

  • "All the food was absolutely top notch, perfectly prepared with fresh ingredients. They serve classic French foods, but the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. We were also impressed that the restaurant was both elegant and professional, but not pretentious. We were on vacation and did not have the 'suit and tie', but we dressed nicely and did not feel uncomfortable at all. Don't get me wrong, you certainly could dress formal, but it's refreshing to have a more comfortable atmosphere with food quality equal to the best."

  • "My fiance and I dined at The Cottage Place for our one year anniversary, and the experience was phenomenal! The food is excellent, the service was amazing. My filet mignon steak was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special night out! Pricey, but the food and experience is well worth the cost!"

  • "We keep going to Cottage Place with the intent to have the chateaubirand for two, but we have opted for the monthly Tasting Menu both times now. It's just too hard to resist. From the seafood ravioli appetizer to the crepes suzette for dessert, all courses were superb. Their variation of the cobb salad was the only weak point in the meal, but even so, it was excellent. The wine pairings with every course were spot-on. I enjoyed the Rickshaw Pino Noir immensely. We were celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary and requested a romantic table; they gave us the best spot in the restaurant. Well worth the price overall, we will be back again."

  • "I looked up this place on a whim, because I was looking for more things to do in flagstaff that might be a little more upscale than Olive Garden, or wandering downtown. But boy, did I stumble upon a gem. I can easily see why this place is considered in the top 100 restaurants in the U.S.A. However small it be (like a very small building, or a home that was converted into a restaurant) the size allowed greater concentration of energy, overall: and the positivism of the staff will make you feel right at home. The food? The best I have ever had. I'm still thinking about my french silk pie, and Gorgonzola steak. I doubt I can eat anywhere else in Flagstaff now, because it won't be good enough. Size in mind, you MUST reserve, to be seated."

  • "I researched Travelocity prior to traveling to Flagstaff to check out NAU with my 17 year old daughter. Since she's a bit of a foodie, I made a reservation. We had to wait about ten minutes despite our reservation, but I understand that with such a small place. It's set in an old house and converted to a charming restaurant. They offered a 6 course tasting menu, add the wine pairings (3 half glasses of wine, wish it was more) for $89, which was my choice. A variety of tastes and everything was delicious. Crepes Suzette were being prepared tableside, and that was my choice for dessert. The crepe was too thick and just kind of laid on top of the cinnamon ice cream and homemade caramel. That's my only complaint. I look forward to going back."

  • "We can't wait for the encore!!! Great find in Flagstaff. Romantic ambience, excellent service and amazing food. It made our Valentine's weekend!! My fiance said "even the butter tasted great", we can't wait to go back. But be sure to make reservations!!"

  • "My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here this past weekend while visiting Flagstaff. The atmosphere is very charming, although tables are quite close together which doesn't lend to much privacy. Both the soup and the salad were excellent. My husband had a pasta with scallops and shrimp that was good and I had a shrimp over quinoa that was very tasty. We both enjoyed a tableside crepe suzette. We would definitely return when we are in the area."

  • "Shook hands with head chef Frank who took our coats. Sat at the 2 top by the front window which has its own dimmer switch. Shrimp bisque soup was excellent, filet with Gorgonzola with fantastic, and homemade ice cream with sauce flambed tableside was delicious (and tiny). Service was great; pace was relaxed as we wanted it to be. Price was high but worth it."

  • "For our Anniversary our children gave us a certificate to dine at the Cottage in Flagstaff, Arizona. The restaurant is located within a home raising an eyebrow we entered and immediately were greeted like we were at home. The atmosphere was pleasant, laid back. The food was excellent, from appetizers to the entree we were so happy to finally find a great place to dine. I am extremely picky about the food I eat and would go back there anytime. I had the most tender filet mignon with bernaise sauce that melted in your mouth. The wait staff were always there when you needed them, no hovering, just attentive."

  • "This restaurant was a fantastic find and has now become our favorite restaurant. We make the trip up from Phoenix to dine there for special occasions and it is well worth the drive. The food is amazing; the service exemplary; and the atmosphere quaint and comfortable. It's like being in the home of a very special friend. The Cottage Place is a diamond among 5 star restaurants."

  • "Our dinner was ok. We had chateaubriand and it could have been prepared better. Potatoes were just ok. I ate here a few years ago and thought it was much better. The owner chef was running around in the restaurant and didn't seem to be spending too much time in the kitchen flagstaff is starting to step up its game with notable restaurants. I don't think Cottage Place is keeping pace."

  • "Cottage Place is located on the "other" side of the tracks near downtown Flagstaff, in a very cute cottage on a residential street. The ambience is lovely, and the staff are attentive. There is an early bird dinner which many people chose, which provides excellent value. We came too late for the early bird, so we had the prix fix dinner, a somewhat more pricy option. The place has great pretentions of high quality, but it is just not there. The food was not bad in any way, just not very sophisticated for the price you pay. So go there for the atmosphere and the relative quiet, chat with the chef, and eat simply."

  • "Wonderful experience. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Cottage Place. Food was terrific, presentation beautiful and service from Kendra was professional in a way you just don't get in Flagstaff. Best of all, the executive chef, Frank Branham spent a great deal of time in the dining room talking with guests and making sure they were enjoying themselves. We learned from him that Cottage Place has been in business for 31 years and he's been there for the pasts 19. The place is small and was packed. Make reservations. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We love Cottage Place!! We consider this our place in Flagstaff for special times, rewards, relaxation, romantic dinner, quiet time with friends, and anything else that brings a smile to your face, warmth to your heart!! We have been going to Cottage Place since it opened in the 1970's, and have never been disappointed. This restaurant is always comfortable and relaxed. Since it has been owned by the Branhams it has maintained a particularly high quality of food, personalized service and surroundings that can't be matched. Chef Frank's menus and special items are wonderful, always beautifully prepared, presented and EATEN!! Wines and parings are great. Deserts fabulous. We LOVE Cottage Place!!"

  • "The Cottage Place was excellent as every. The food had you higher than the mountains surrounding Flagstaff. The wine pairing diner was excellent. The Banana Foster was smooth and unbeatable. The cocoa encrusted sirloin was quite a surprise. The herb mushroom soup was to die for. Thank you such a delightful and wonderful evening."

  • "We have three times driven from Los Angeles to Santa Fe, and needed a good stopping point. In Cottage Place Restaurant, we have instead found a new destination, for we are certain to plan our travel around going there for dinner and spending the night in a nearby hotel (such as the Druiry Inn & Suites, only a block away). Arriving at Cottage Place, one expects that a cozy meal is in store, in its warm, unprepossessing atmosphere. After that, we were happily taken aback: the food was superbly executed, and the service was some of the best we've ever had, professional, warm, and attentive, never fussy or cloying. The wild forest mushroom ravioli were delectable. We shared a fine bottle of Sancerre, selected from their well-edited wine list."

  • "The Cottage Place has been voted 'Best In Flagstaff' for umpteen years and for good reason... they're THAT good. Being locals, my husband and I dine there frequently, and always take our out-of-town family and friends there for dinner as well. Chef Frank Branham and his lovely wife, Nancy, are the best of hosts... always a warm welcome by Nancy... Chef Frank always stops by the table. The wait staff is just as warm and welcoming... your wish is their happy command. And we haven't even gotten to the food yet! Everything on the menu is fabulous... we know, cuz we've had everything on the menu! Chef Frank is nothing less than superlative... an imaginative wizard who blends flavours that can only be described as 'divinely inspired'."

  • "We ate at the Cottage almost thirty years ago when it was under different management. It was great then. As we entered, this time we wondered if it would be as good. It was far better. If there is better dining in Flagstaff, it has to be off the charts and I want to know about it. Our meals were exquisitely prepared and served. The staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. The cottage is quaint and very nicely appointed. The owner/chef wanders through from time to time and is happy to speak about the Cottage and its history. A most enjoyable evening in every respect. Thank you."
