  • "We didn't get the Costata, but the Restaurant Week prix fixe lunch was great! We tried the steak tartar, a beet salad, the skate with the creamiest polenta and roasted corn, and steak tips. Everything was cooked well, though the steak was a bit uneven (ranged from blue to medium rare). The desserts were both good. One was similar to tiramisu and the other was a beautiful cup of chocolate mousse, pistachio cake, and cheesecake topped with berries. We hope to return soon!"

  • "From start to finish our lunch was wonderful! We took advantage of restaurant week to try this restaurant for lunch and we will return for dinner soon. Service was excellent. Food was perfect. Presentation was so impressive. I had the burger which was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. My husband had the skate which was delicious also. I am looking forward to our return visit."

  • "went for restaurant week- such a great deal. food portion was large and everything was delicious. some small snags: there were flies due to the front door being open. i was handed a blank menu by accident, which was fine. then instead of being charged for two glasses of wine, i was charged for two bottles. hopefully this will improve, but food was worth going for."

  • "Went here for lunch. The burger was like nothing I've ever had. Absolutely the best tasting and most satisfying burger I've ever had. And everyone at the table of four of us agreed. Also got to taste the skate with polenta and that was another outstanding dish. The wine selections offered by the glass was very well thought out and there's something for every taste and dish pairing. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive and the room was very comfortable and relaxing. Good background music too. Can't wait to try Costata for dinner."

We were seated within minutes, and after telling the waiter we were in a rush because of work, they made sure our food came out very fast while still making this meal memorable. Amazing food! The atmosphere is good for lunch but nothing special. Would highly recommend!"

  • "My boyfriend and I came here for restaurant week to sample the menu we had heard so much about. We each started with different appetizers, he had the beef tartar and I had the beet salad. Both excellent and I made him share with me! And we both had the burger, which was dripping down the sides of our hands and was so delicious we could barely speak while finishing our meal. The cheese, and bacon marmalade was just perfect. A great way to experience a fabulous restaurant- and I will definitely be back for more another time."

  • "We had a reservation and when we arrived after 25 minutes of taxi ride they told us it was closed for the day. We couldn't believe it. Nobody called us or send us an email to cancel the reservation. Incredible! I would never recommend that restaurant."

  • "Maybe other people were eating outside on the summer night we went, but the place was about 25% full. We ate around 9:30 pm so it's a little concerning when most of the restaurant is empty. Service was fair, it seemed the manager took our order. Steak was good but very salty. Nothing special here-mushrooms were average. Pretty place inside, just didn't have much vibe."

  • "I do not give 5 stars with ease. I was absolutely impressed with Costata from my first to last bite. First of all the drinks, champagne and wine list were fantastic. The sommelier "Tim" was fantastic. Wise far beyond his young looks ! Ty the London Calling cocktail it does not disappoint. The crudo was amazing, lamb off the charts and the side of artichokes were the best I have ever tasted. Dessert was decadent yet light at the same time, chamomile gelato to die for ! Is it my birthday yet because I cannot wait to return. Hands down my new favorite in NYC !"

  • "In New York w/wife to see a broadway play - wanted a high end steak house and found this Gem - Lobster was $48 you can't beat that in NY - From the hostess to the sommelier to the waiter etc., awesome service - Food good, wine awesome - Steak was ok - I have been to a ton of high end steak houses so my expectations maybe to high... Anyway, no bone in rib eye so a little disappointed.... anyway food was good and we had a great time - nice ambience"

  • "I have been to all the Top Steakhouses all over the USA. My Ribeye steak was up there only second maybe to Peter Luger. Staff was excellent. Brought my own wine and adhered to their two bottle limit and I thought I was told over the phone it was a $50 corkage charge, but $50 per bottle was charged. Well worth it sommelier was a very personable gentlemen. "

  • "I went to Costata for first time since it opened and it was an amazing experience! BR Guests used to own Fiamma, at the same location, and Michael White was the executive chef. Fiamma was my favorite and I went there for years. Then BR Guest got greedy and messed up with the staff and restaurant eventually closed. I'm so happy that Chef White has taken ownership of the location and Costata is outstanding, all Fiamma is back, all over again. Beef tartare, oysters, Garganelli Fiamma, Tagliatelle with morels and pistachios, the lobster, all fantastic! Drink menu is also incredible. Desserts could improve a little... they were really good but not phenomenal. I will definitely go back, no doubt!"

  • "Knowing this was a Michael White restaurant my expectatoins were high, but each and every one of them was surpassed. This restaurant gives you such a wide variety of courses from the raw seafood to pastas to steak at a quality level that makes you think it specializes in each. I could not of been more sastified with my dinning experience, and I think everyone has to try this restaurant! "

  • "Costata is a charming restaurant; with friendly staff, warm atmosphere and mediocre food. I took my friend for a celebratory dinner after reading rave reviews about Costata's dry aged steaks. A very friendly and knowledgeable sommelier (or captain?) helped me choose a very good bottle of Cali Cabernet to enjoy with our steaks that was trully excellent. But the food....it just fell flat for us. The Mayan Prawns were very tough, rubbery, and the dish was pretty bland. Same for my friends Bone Marrow Salad, which needed salt / acidity. The steaks were cooked perfectly, but also needed salt and a better accompaniment. And the steak knives were dull! Overall for the price of the meal, the food needs to be improved upon by leaps and bounds."

  • "First time there. But had a feeling that COSTATA should be good because it is same group with Marea and Ai Fioli where I have been several times with satisfied experience. I was right. We had oyster, crudo (sea urchin). green salad, pasta (spagetti) and ribeye steak with my friend, two of us. Everything was so tasty but if I chose one dish it was green salad. Dressing and freshness was so sophiscated. Compared with Marea or Ai Fioli, it seems to feature steak but least favaorable dish was rib eye steak among my choice at this time. It was good but a little bit too fatty for me. Size of pasta is small and good for appetizer. Next time, I would llike to try some more pasta. Bread (foccatio?) was super!"

  • "A friend told me to go here because "it would change my life" and so I had to do. Although my life has not dramatically changed, we did have a really nice evening. The crudo portion of the menu was very fresh and delightfully different with interesting ingredients such as celery root that complimented the really fresh seafood. The wine list was excellent. Especially then Italian wine that was "great value" which tastes like a Sancerre but with crisp herbal hints. The main course was authentic and fresh pasta and I liked that you could order an appetizer portion if liked. The desert was heavenly, especially the ricotta cake. Overall a really great restaurant but definitely priced for a special occasion. The staff was lovely. "

  • "Local Gem , it wasn't recommended we just stumbled across it . The service was outstanding and so was the food . Being an Italian restaurant we shared a pasta dish ( vongole ) , mussels and seafood salad as starters . My 2 daughters and i are here from Australia , so they made us feel extra special , we shared the rib eye steak which was melt in the mouth matarial and cooked medium rare to perfection . unfortunately there was no room for dessert . I would highly recommend this Soho gem ."

  • "Took some out-of-towners there for the first time. Everything was perfect, from start to finish. The staff was very attentive and the food was prepared well. The boneless ribeye was cooked as requested and the seasoning provided the perfect accent to the flavor of the beef without being overpowering. The wine list is extensive and has great selections from Italy, France and the US. I would highly recommend Costata. "

  • "We had an early Saturday evening table and enjoyed 4 courses of heaven; Fluke Crudo, Quail, Ricotta Ravioli, Beef Tenderloin and Torte di Mascarpone. Every bite was delicious. The food and service were fantastic, even if we were slightly rushed out towards the end. The atmosphere was intimate but lively, until an older couple asked for the mid-level music to be turned down. The check was a little on the expensive side but was worth every cent. I'd certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a top notch meal in Soho. - @SamUKSays"

  • "The steaks here are good but not as good as at Delmonico's or Smith & Wollensky -- but they are more expensive! And the hard surfaces here make the dining room very loud. We could hardly hear ourselves talk in a nearly empty dining room. The two table of four on either side of us were talking in normal voices but they converged over us. Carpeting would go a long way to solve the problem."
