  • "The food at Cosa Nostra is just outstanding. Everything I have had thus far has been excellent. I think my overall favorite is the Rigatoni with 3 meat gravy. Although, the Scampi dish is to die for…..the Chicken Marsala if fabulous, and the Lazy Lasagna is terrific! The atmosphere is nice, warm and romantic. The service is wonderful and the owners are terrific, always dropping by the table to make sure everything is satisfactory! Cosa Nostra is now my first choice when dining in Gainesville."

  • "Since the only other Italian in Gainesville is Olive Garden, this is a welcome edition. Meals begin with included salad and bread. Salad is Iceberg lettuce with a mild italian dressing, no other veggies. The calamari was OK, the tentacle parts a little chewy, the rings tender, fried in a tempura type batter. Pasta dishes were OK, linguine and clam sauce had plenty of clams, just not alot of briny seafood flavor, but OK. Oil & garlic pasta with broccoli was good. Dessert of cannoli creme, served with shell"chips" was a little different than traditional Cannoli creme. Prices were moderate, service was attentive and friendly. Great old building, if you don't mind being in the basement."

  • "Took my parents for Father's Day and had a wonderful meal! Sean, our server, was absolutely fantastic. He made excellent suggestions and was a pro at tableside conversation. We had heard great things, but were pleasantly surprised that the food surpassed our expectations. I had the chicken parm with alfredo instead of the marinara at Sean's suggestion. YUM! My Father had the veal chops (which he claimed were divine) and my Mother had the chicken alfredo. We will definitely be back!"

  • "The service was outstanding. Josh was very amiable and checked on our needs frequently. He also spent time talking with us and introducing himself to us. Made our time there very personable. Also several of the other servers checked on our needs as we ate. The food, from bread and gravy to dessert was fabulous. Already looking forward to going back."

  • "We're searching for some favorite places, but this one won't be on the list. Entrance looked promising, and we got one of the few tables with any ambience near the bar, but rest of restaurant was just rows of tables, like a mess hall. Way too much of a family place with crying babies and kids playing with their video games instead of enjoying a meal. Salad that comes with meal was nothing but iceberg lettuce and a little oil/vinegar. Yuk. Quite a limited menu. Veal entree had at least 15 whole cloves of garlic in the sauce which had to be picked out. One bite would have totally covered the taste of the veal from that point on. Avoid this place. "

  • "We were seated by the Owner, and the waitress was attentive and informative. The marinara was out of this world though a little too much was on the veal parmesan. Kinda smothered the veal. The porcini ravioli was perfectly done with the right amount of sauce. Did I mention that the waitress was fabulous. The cheese cake was good but not your traditional New York style. All in all a great addition to a sorely lacking cullinary community. We will go back!"

  • "Their gravy and cacciatore sauce is *really tasty. Staff is friendly. Other than that....very average. Salad is plain iceberg lettuce with dressing. 5 Day old bread. All 8 Mussels were small, over cooked and from freezer. If they made a few tweaks could be really good."

  • "I was so excited to find a non-chain Italian restaurant in Gainesville, and I was not disappointed. We shared a Calimari for an appetizer, it was delicious and there was plenty of it. The sauce that was served with it was a spicy marinara that complimented it nicely. It was crisp, but not overcooked, and the coating did not fall off, as it does so many places. For my entree, I enjoyed the Chicken Marsala, which had a very light Marsala gravy. I was much too full to try desert, but the ones I saw, looked delicious. They even had Cakebread Cabernet on the wine list, one of my favorites, but outside my budget. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "We are so happy to have this restaurant in our area! Four of us enjoyed our tasty and relaxing dining experience from salad and bread to the finale of cannoli bites. This is our 4th time and I also brought a group of 12 ladies for lunch. Everyone was pleased and many have returned. It's wonderful for a group. We were set apart in a very cozy area and seated around one large table. We could actually see and converse with anyone around the table. That is hard to find in any restuarant. Just be sure to reserve it for your group! We'll be back!!!!"

  • "I took my wife to this restaurant on Valentine's Day and it was our first visit to the restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service. We would have rather been seated in the front areas but recognized that it was unusually busy for this special day. I would highly recommend the food (we had the Scampi dish) and the atmosphere. The owner came around to make sure we were happy and pleased. We will go back soon for the Fra Divoli!"

  • "This restaurant serves the best Italian food south of New York City. I had the red clam sauce - excellent with abundant clams. My husband always chooses chicken marsala and he said it was the best ever. The salad is good, lightly tossed and generous. The service is friendly but not overbearing."
