CortonFantastic MealHighly imaginative and perfectly balanced cuisine. Honestly, some of the most delicious food I've had the pleasure of enjoying. I'm surprised Corton isn't booked months out.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOMGIf you love food, please go to Corton. You will experience the limits of how immaculate, stunning, pampering, and delicious it can be. All the while in super comfy chairs.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSpring Tasting Menu, It was amazingI took my sister to Corton after watching her graduate fashion show at FIT.
When we got there, there was only one more party beside ours. It was quiet and even after the restaurant was filled up, it was not noisy or anything at all.
I loved every single one of the courses.
Every small details, small herbs, flowers, they were not just fresh, tasty but also so pretty.
All those small bites on a plate were plenty of flavor.
Lots of complimentary - starters, chocolates, macarons....
Thai tea ice cream and sorbet were crazy good. I have never had those before in my life.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique and adventurous tasting menuWe were late for our reservation on a Friday night and I expected it to be a problem based on prior reviews here, but I couldn't have been more pleased as they were most accommodating.
We had the 14 course tasting menu, and thought it was just stupendous. Really interesting and unique flavor combinations--not a run-of-the mill meal at all. It was a bit difficult to understand the frequent descriptions of each course between the accent of the staff and some background noise.
I've been to some pretty fancy places and I felt this was unique and interesting, and must be tried,4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMProbably the overall bestProbably the overall best meal I have had in New York, and I've eaten in many of the greats.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy dinner partner has dairyMy dinner partner has dairy and gluten issues and this presented somewhat of a challenge with our server and with the chef, as we wanted to do the 14 course tasting menu. However, after some discussion, consensus was achieved (I said to just go ahead and do the best they could!) and they went forward to do some subtle differences for my dinner partner that did not use dairy or gluten and more traditional choices for me. The meal was like Easter, finding little hidden gems of flavor that were subtly layered or burst over the palate like fireworks! A for effort in accommodating our needs and an A+ for the presentation, quality and variety of the meal. I asked the wine steward for wine pairings and he was a bit too deferential. They worked OK.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMjust go there. It was sublime experience. We are from Poland and we came to Corton because we saw a documentary about Paul. What a story! Stands up to the real experience.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful good, beautifullyWonderful good, beautifully presented. Probably the prettiest food we have eaten.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe chef is obviously oneThe chef is obviously one of the best in the world. The cuisine is the most innovative in NY.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, but chef tries too hardThe restaurant itself is very beautiful, with an elegant touch. The food is very good, towards modern french. I do think that maybe chef Paul Lebrandt get too carried away with new ideas and sacrifices flavor for presentation. Half of the tasting menu was alright. Half of it was remarkable.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative food, complex andCreative food, complex and rich flavors, excellent service. All in all, a wonderful experience.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat placebeen there when it was montrachet, and this was better, there 4 course dish had flavors that i loved i was reaaly impressed3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMYum,yum!Unbelievably tasty and beautiful food! Service was a bit inattentive.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI always liked the food atI always liked the food at Corton, but recently it gets better day after day, if that is possible. The dishes are getting more sophisticated, and a lot of efforts seem to have been put into them. Both thumbs up!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative & great diningThe tasting menu was very inventive and tasty, although was one or two low points whereby some lacked flavour for either my wife or I or both. Could not go past the creativity though and we both admired foods presentation - even if not all stimulated our tastes could see what the chef was striving for and admire this. Wine selection is fabulous and Sommelier gave wonderful advice for us on a wine for our palettes leaning towards an earthy French Pinot (would be great to have a dedicated wine accompaniment offering as they can offer suggestions but be better if available). Ambiance is fashionable in whites & sparseness - focus is definitely food & fantastic service. Wonderful dining experience.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place the food is nothingGreat place the food is nothing short of incredible. The techniques and idea had you interested the entire meal.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our third visit. This was our third visit. One of the gems of NY, and we had one of our best meals. Ever. Anywhere. The "lighter" winter menu was sheer genius, building on itself course by course. The menu descriptions were not really very useful - I'm not fond of game or liver, and the game pie was not something I particularly would have ever ordered, for example. But it was memorable, and I now crave it. The dessert courses (2) were fabulous, light and refreshing. We really didn't need all those chocolates and macaroons at the end, but of course, we dove right in. Expensive and worth every penny.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWow! Corton has been greatWow! Corton has been great before but tonight was the best! Every dish tasted a few notches better and the service was far better than before! Accurate, swift, and personalized! I am impressed! Also looking forward to soon-to-open Elm!1/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAn experience that we willAn experience that we will be taliking about for a long time. It came at a dear price but maybe that's what it costs to be so memorable. Save your pennies, nickels, dimes, etc. and try it if you can.12/22/2012 12:00:00 AM
